Mesmerizing Ghost Doctor

Chapter 5000: Melee

Chapter 5000: Melee

Though the Song family’s forces were few, each fighter was capable of holding their own against ten opponents. Even the three younger members, Hao’er and the others, possessed combat prowess that could not be underestimated.

At that moment, a flying knife flashed through the air in Song Lingbo’s hand, slicing cleanly across Chai San’s throat. As he watched the man grunt and collapse, he looked up ahead. His gaze flickered uncontrollably. The words he’d intended to shout—a command for everyone to stop—got stuck in his throat, never forming.

Up ahead, guard and the others, along with Mi’er and the three children, were locked in fierce combat with the mercenaries. Setting guard aside for now, his gaze fell upon Mi’er and the children. Witnessing their astonishing combat prowess, his expression grew somewhat peculiar.

He knew his daughter well. While she was capable in combat, she certainly couldn’t take on three mercenaries alone. Yet here she was, moving with effortless ease, which surprised him.

As for the three children…

He knew they were disciples of the Azure Emperor, so their skills couldn’t be too shabby. Plus, they’d shown their hand a few times in the forest these past days, so he had some idea of their capabilities. But now, seeing them take on mercenaries with such decisive, clean strikes—that ruthless intensity was truly eye-opening!

The Song brothers had rushed back upon hearing the commotion, expecting trouble. Yet upon witnessing the scene, they froze. Turning to their father, they asked, “Father, what happened?”

“Wow! Who knew they were this strong!”

“That’s Chai San’s mercenary team. Just now…” He briefly explained the situation, paused, then added, “Though I’m not sure how it escalated to this.”

The scene before them had devolved into a one-sided massacre. As corpses piled up on the ground, the remaining dozen or so survivors fled frantically into the woods. They assumed the escapees would simply vanish, but the next moment…

“Lion! Drive them back to that monkey territory!” ”

Yue’er shouted. The moment her voice fell, a flash of light leapt forward. Perhaps to avoid startling the forest’s fierce beasts with its roar, the lion didn’t bellow upon emerging. Instead, it let out a low growl and gave chase after the fleeing dozen, driving them toward the area where the monkey corpses lay.

In this forest, the scent of blood was the surest lure for fierce beasts. With so many monkey corpses and the lingering stench of blood in that area, driving those people there meant they would meet a gruesome end without a single blow being struck!

Perhaps the shock they had already endured was too great. When the divine-tier lion appeared, the Song family members merely flashed their eyes briefly, saying nothing more, nor did they cry out in alarm.

As disciples of the Azure Emperor, possessing a divine-tier contract beast was hardly unusual. Without proper safeguards, the Azure Emperor likely wouldn’t have allowed them to travel unprotected.

“Arghhhh!”

Soon after, piercing screams echoed through the forest, mingled with beastly roars and desperate cries for help. The sounds grew fainter and fainter until they faded away entirely.

The lion watched from the thicket as the pack of fierce beasts tore the men apart. devouring their corpses in mere moments. After licking their lips, they glanced toward the Song family’s direction, seemingly detecting the scent of blood there. Just as they growled lowly and began striding forward to hunt, they suddenly retreated with alertness, their eyes fixed on the thicket with fear.
