Upon hearing this, Xuanyuan Mo Ze smiled, reached out to take her hand, and said, "I just want the best for our daughter. Besides, I truly want her to stay by our side for a few more years. After all, the children have been away these past years and have rarely been with us."

Seeing this, Feng Jiu finally said, "Yue’er has already come here with her master. It will take at least half a year for her injuries to heal properly, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see her during that time."

She shook her head as she spoke. "Yue’er is such a worry. Her two older brothers are out in the world and only send occasional messages to let us know they’re safe, so I feel at ease with them. But with this child, if I don’t keep a close eye on her, I’m genuinely afraid she’ll get into trouble at any moment."

"So, before her injuries flared up, we’ve kept her confined to this island to prevent her from causing trouble elsewhere," Xuanyuan Mo Ze said with a smile.

"Come to think of it, given the Azure Emperor’s abilities, he should have reached our Immortal Island by now. Why haven’t we seen him yet?" Feng Jiu asked curiously.

"I suppose Yue’er got distracted playing and got delayed!" Xuanyuan Mo Ze said, not giving it a second thought.

Meanwhile, Yue’er had indeed left Yunxiao Mountain with her master. However, in the end, her master couldn’t resist her pleading and agreed to take her on a scenic journey to the Immortal Island.

She knew that if she went to her parents’ place this time, she wouldn’t be able to go out and play for a long while. She’d stayed on Yunxiao Mountain for so long, and had only just come down before getting seriously injured. Now she was headed to the Immortal Island to recuperate, and wouldn’t be allowed to go out and play. Being the playful type, she simply couldn’t stand being cooped up, so she had to make the most of her time and have one last good time before reaching the Immortal Island.

Along the way, the Azure Emperor indulged her. Seeing how much she enjoyed exploring towns, he let her wander around and buy little trinkets she liked whenever they arrived at a new place.

One day, after they entered the city, the Azure Emperor went to an inn to rest, while Yue’er eagerly set off to explore the market. Although she was currently unable to cultivate like a mortal, her master—fearing she might be bullied while out—had left a strand of his divine consciousness within her to protect her. Thus, even when he wasn’t by her side, there was no need to worry that she would encounter danger.

After wandering around the city and buying a few trinkets, just as she was about to head back, she noticed quite a few cultivators heading toward the outskirts. Glancing up at the sky beyond the city walls, she detected faint fluctuations of powerful energy—as if caused by the turbulence of a battle.

"Is there a fight? It looks pretty intense," she murmured, her curiosity piqued. She decided to follow the crowd to take a look—after all, with her master’s fragment of divine consciousness protecting her, she figured she’d be safe.

So, full of excitement, she ran after the cultivators toward the city gates to catch the spectacle. Though she couldn’t channel her spirit energy, her agility remained, allowing her to move quite swiftly.

When she reached the city gates, a large crowd had already gathered. She pushed her way to the front, but the sight that met her eyes left her stunned; she stared in disbelief, her eyes wide.

Shen Shiqi?

How could it be him? How did he end up here? Were those dead bodies on the ground members of the Shen family? And who were those black robed men? Why were they attacking him?

In an instant, a flood of thoughts rushed through her mind, and seeing the numerous wounds on Shen Shiqi’s body only made her even more anxious.
