Chapter 6345 Once More Encountering Ying Wudao
Long Chen and Mu Qingyun had barely flown for an incense stick’s duration when the ground in front of them split open. Countless bat-like lifeforms erupted forth from underground.
Though these lifeforms looked like bats, each was the size of an adult human. They had no eyes, and their sharp venomous fangs dripped with a pale blue fluid. If bitten, perhaps even a nine-hundred-flame divine sprout would meet their end.
The sky filled with them as they charged at Long Chen and Mu Qingyun.
With a calm expression, Mu Qingyun formed one-handed seals. A sword manifested in midair, then split into thirty-six blades that wove into a sword-net and sliced all those lifeforms.
In the blink of an eye, this space emptied. Then, thirty-six flying swords returned to one and vanished.
Mu Qingyun’s movements were clean and composed. Having fully refined these flying swords, she could summon them with a single thought. Although she hadn’t reached the same level of fusion as Long Chen and Evilmoon, she could kill these lifeforms as easily as flicking her wrist
Suddenly, a vine came out of Long Chen’s back and stabbed into the ground. The ground rumbled and rose.
BOOM!
The earth exploded as Zhi Zhi dragged up an enormous corpse. It was a four-armed, two-headed giant. Though it was dead, the body was preserved quite well. As it was pulled free, countless bats poured from its hollowing. The corpse was actually their nest.
With another sword seal, Mu Qingyun slew them all with her flying swords.
Then, two of them went up to the giant. Sensing its vast devil qi, Mu Qingyun shivered.
“This lifeform has been dead for countless years but still emits such terrifying devil qi. If it was alive, who knows how strong it would be?” Mu Qingyun muttered.
They moved to the giant’s chest and found a large gaping hole. Long Chen frowned as he examined the wounds.
He said, “Its heart was ripped out while it was alive, judging from these scars.”
Mu Qingyun gasped. “This giant was probably a Divine Sovereign. How did someone manage to rip out its heart? That’s really terrifying.”
Long Chen nodded. “The records that the nine heavens have about the heaven region’s battlefield are not very accurate. We know too little of this place. There are more than corpses buried here—there’s hidden history.”
Long Chen’s mind flashed to the five Sovereigns. What secrets did this battlefield hide? All five had surfaced here before heading to the Martial Heaven Continent... what had transpired?
Just then, Zhi Zhi spoke up, and Long Chen nodded. “If it’s useful to you, go ahead and devour it. Grow up quickly. I think a bloody battle is coming.”
Zhi Zhi dragged the giant corpse into the primal chaos space to siphon its remaining energy.
“It seems that the fluctuation I sensed just now came from this corpse. Brother San, we can’t waste time,” said Mu Qingyun.
Previously she’d felt something strange and led Long Chen here—only to find a corpse. It was not much of a lead.
Long Chen nodded. Rather than searching for treasure, killing for treasure was more efficient. Those Golden Crowns had flocked here for some prize—there was no time to waste.
Mu Qingyun was about to form seals when the void trembled and a flying boat screamed overhead. It moved so fast the two barely saw it before it whistled past.
Startled cries came from it, and it turned back. This time, Long Chen saw it clearly. It was a Divine Sovereign flying boat.
A flying boat like that was essentially a mobile fortress. It was worth at least ten times a Divine Sovereign magical item of the same tier, perhaps a hundred. With the support of its grand formation, even an ordinary cultivator could unleash devastating power if they had the necessary resources. It couldn’t be compared to an ordinary Divine Sovereign magical item.
Mu Qingyun immediately tensed when she saw the flying boat turn back to them. She got ready to fight.
“Wow, Brother Long, so it really is you!”
A pleasantly surprised voice called from the flying boat, and a group disembarked.
The one leading this group was a young, fair-faced man wearing white robes. He was handsome and looked rather scholarly, but the horns on his head could only mean one thing—an expert from the devil race.
Mu Qingyun felt a wave of pressure from him even though his cultivation was hidden. His strength rivaled Di Mengyao’s.
Behind him were hundreds of devil experts, each with between nine hundred ninety-five to nine hundred ninety-seven Sovereign flames. Although there were only a few of them, their power was truly terrifying.
The white-robed man looked at Long Chen like seeing a long lost friend.
“It’s you, Ying Wudao?” Long Chen asked, surprise.
Back in the violet blood race’s territory, Long Chen and Luo Yanfeng were fighting the devil race, and he ended up encountering this person on the battlefield.
This person was from the devil race’s emperor race, the rainbow winged devil race. Ying Wudao gave Long Chen a map, a status plate, and a dagger that allowed Long Chen to sneak into the devil race’s hive and destroy it.
Long Chen had never expected to encounter him again here. Seeing his expression, Long Chen walked up to him.
“Hahaha!”
They laughed like brothers. Ying Wudao even opened his arms and embraced Long Chen.
This scene caused the devil experts behind him to stare in disbelief, wary of Long Chen.
After all, Long Chen was a leading figure of the human race and a mortal enemy of their kind—if word spread that Ying Wudao fraternized with him, it would spell disaster.
Mu Qingyun was also stunned. This was a devil expert he was hugging.
Long Chen had cut down untold numbers of them across the battlefield, enough to cover Heaven’s Spine Mountain Range. How could the two be friends?
“Come, let’s talk on my boat. Do you have any of that wine again? After the last bottle you gave me, everything else became flavorless,” Ying Wudao laughed, gesturing them up.
“Is this a pirate ship? The kind you don’t get off alive?” Long Chen joked and started to board.
“Are you joking? Would the number one expert of the human race fear my little pirate ship?” Ying Wudao retorted with a laugh.
They were halfway up when some devil experts blocked their path. At this sight, Ying Wudao’s smile vanished.
One of them ground their teeth and said, “Your Majesty, please reconsider. This person is a major foe of the devil race. He should be—”
Ying Wudao raised a finger. A ray of divine light pierced that man’s head, killing him instantly.
