At first, Li Qingcang had only wanted to stay by Ye Tianxin’s side while she slept. He did, however, find himself drifting asleep. It was already nightfall when he woke up.
Those who had gone out for work throughout the day had returned to Lang Garden. Li Hang, who had divorced his wife and whose son had already married, was one of them.
Staying in the Li family’s villa might be boring for Li Hang. So he gathered his belongings and carried them to the Lang Garden’s guest room. It wouldn’t harm if he stayed in one of the unoccupied rooms.
While Ye Linlang seemed unconcerned, Xie Xuning was a little bothered by it.
When Xie Xuning came home, he saw that Li Hang settled comfortably under a vine tree, drinking tea and holding a document in his hand as he browsed through it intensively.
“Li Hang, don’t you have a house of your own?” Xie Xuning asked, irritably.
“Xuning, Li Qingcang is my son,” Li Hang remarked, setting aside the paper in his palm, unbothered by Xie Xuning’s remarks.
“Ha-ha!” Xuning let out a sarcastic laugh.
Some words were unnecessary, and Xie Xuning immediately understood what Li Hang was trying to say.
“Are you telling me that at this young age, you’d have to rely on your son for your living?”
“What’s wrong with my son supporting me every day? It’s only natural,” Li Hang continued, staring at Xie Xuning. “To be honest, I just thought the Lang Garden was a nice place with a good environment. I like the food here as well. No matter what, you’ll still have to pay for the chefs, gardeners, and domestic helpers, with or without me. So it doesn’t make much difference whether I’m staying here or not.”
Xie Xuning cracked a dry laugh after hearing Li Hang’s blatant words. Then he uttered, “You’re really something else. I don’t mind if you want to stay here for the rest of your life. I don’t have many helpers here, so your stay won’t be too expensive. But think about it before you make any rash decisions. Do you plan to rot on the dole like a scrooge here for the rest of your life? Do you plan to kick start your retired life this early?”
Li Hang quickly recognized the meaning in Xie Xuning’s statements. An interesting thought popped out of his mind.
“Xie, I wish to reconcile my marriage with Wu Tong, and it’s all thanks to you.”
With that, Li Hang immediately jumped to his feet.
Xie Xuning watched his silhouette as he strode off rapidly. It came as a surprise to him since he did not say anything specific. He wondered what had happened that caused Li Hang to have that idea in mind.
That night, Li Hang returned to his villa. As he glanced at his large but barren mansion, he began to miss the color and warmth of the Lang Garden. Xie Xuning was right after all. He had to be the one who made an effort to make up with his wife.
Li Hang wanted to drink some hot water in the middle of the night. So he stood up and began to boil water. He did, however, manage to burn down the entire kitchen for some reason.
An epiphany moment occurred while Li Hang stood in the kitchen that was on fire. He then strolled over to the sofa and pretended to be sleeping. After receiving a report of the incident, the fire department responded immediately to put it out.
Meanwhile, they alerted Wu Tong, who was still on the job at the time. Fortunately, the fire did not spread around quickly, and Li Hang, who had pretended to be asleep earlier, was unharmed.
“Wu Tong, it’s really late now. Do you think you can take me in?” Li Hang asked.
“It’s okay. Forget about it,” Li Hang added, without waiting for Wu Tong to react. “I’ll contact Xinghe and ask him to pick me up.”
“Li Hang, did you burn the house down on purpose?” Wu Tong said, peering at Li Hang.
“Do I appear like someone who would do anything so immature and lame?” Li Hang questioned Wu Tong.
After some contemplation, Wu Tong thought that even Li Hang would not be so ridiculous as to put the villa on fire purposely.
“Why didn’t you tell the servant to prepare hot water for you before you went to sleep? Why did you do it yourself and end up burning the house down?” she said glumly. “Cang’s wedding is only around the corner. Where do you expect the guests to stay now?”
