Chapter 4569 - Green Heart

Chapter 4569 - Green Heart

Tianming approached the final survivor, sword in hand. “So this was the outcome you wanted? Can’t you see it yet? Those Aeternal Beings only treated you as worm eggs.”

The sword formation shredded and sliced apart the surrounding green sea.

The shock of seeing her sisters torn apart once more restored some of Yueling Long’s clarity. Seeing their bodies reduced into green sludge made tears finally flow.

“It’s too late,” she said bitterly. “Everything was doomed from the very beginning.”

In Tianming’s memories, this female imperator had always been supremely confident, certain she could control everything.

But now, she could only smile in despair. For the first time, she let out a long sigh before Tianming, sorrow and heartbreak in her green-tinted eyes.

Finally, she looked at him calmly. “Li Tianming, things have already reached this point. They may still be alive. There might still be time.”

Tianming had intended to kill her immediately, but her words caught him off guard.

“You mean they’re still alive?” he asked.

“Perhaps,” Yueling Long answered calmly.

Tianming noticed that the deaths of her sisters seemed to have restored some of her sanity. Her expression no longer carried the same chaotic madness as before.

He nodded. “Lead the way. Why do you think they might still be alive?”

Yueling Long turned around and began moving through the sea of green sludge.

Her expression had returned to coldness, but it was no longer the lofty indifference of before. Now it was the coldness of utter despair, as though she had lost all interest in the world.

Without hiding anything, she explained, “When you fought Shen Wu, Dao San and Jie Ba attacked at the same time. Li Muyang and the others chose to bear it themselves instead of calling for you. Dao San forcibly dragged them into this space to erase them.”

“When I was fighting Shen Wu?” Tianming’s expression twisted. Afterwards, he had spent considerable time using the Sun to devour several stars. During that period, Li Muyang and the others could very well have encountered disaster already.

Still, Li Muyang and Li Tianzi had both surpassed the imperator level. Perhaps they could endure for some time. That was why Yueling Long believed they might still be alive.

Following behind her, Tianming pushed aside the green sludge as the surroundings became increasingly grotesque and foul-smelling.

Sensing his anxiety, Yueling Long suddenly laughed. “You seem tense. But there’s no need. Do you see my current state? Your parents already died long ago. Just like us, they were resurrected by Dao San as bait to lure you here.”

Tianming froze.

“You mean Dao San resurrected them? Then Mu Qingqing’s so-called true body was fake from the start? She had already died?”

His mind roared.

He remembered meeting Mu Qingqing for the first time in her identity as Comma Girl within a wondersky realm.

That had set in motion events that led to him using the chaos worldbangle to convert his power and go to Nullity for the first time. There, he had reunited with Li Muyang, Wei Jing, and even his grandparents. The mark of skypole stars still remained on his hand to this day!

“Impossible.” Tianming’s face darkened. “If they were resurrected by Dao San, then how could no one in the whole Realm of Chaos notice anything wrong?”

Yueling Long replied calmly, “That’s what made Dao San terrifying. I didn’t know either. Only after I was resurrected inside this place did I begin to realize it.”

Another horrifying thought struck him.

“If that’s true, doesn’t that mean my parents were under Dao San’s control all along?” But that made no sense. If that were true, why had Li Muyang and Li Tianzi repeatedly appeared to save him and help him?

Yueling Long shook her head. “Li Muyang and the others broke free from her control long ago. Even Dao San never expected that.”

So that was it. Tianming could tell she was speaking the truth, or at least the truth as she knew it.

Yueling Long radiated a sense of overwhelming tragedy. Perhaps helping him now meant she had fallen into complete despair. She had finally realized that both Dao San and Jie Ba had merely treated her and her sisters as pawns.

“Even if we had truly defeated you back then, my sisters and I probably would never have had a good ending anyway,” she sighed.

Yueling Long pushed through layers of green slime, eventually stopping before an enormous green, blood-soaked heart. It pulsed, countless blood vessels extending from it in every direction and vanishing into the distance.

It was also the source of the green veins continuously pumping green matter into Yueling Long.

“This really does look like the inside of some gigantic green worm.” Tianming stared at the colossal heart, so big his seventy-thousand-meter body seemed utterly insignificant.

Even a single blood vessel dwarfed him.

Its pulse sent waves rippling through the green sea which crashed against him. Some of the slime stuck to his body and slowly slid across his skin.

Ying Huo clicked its tongue. “Little Li, how’s it feel? Like getting smothered in piles of crap?”

“Why ask when I can help you experience it yourself?” Tianming threatened.

Ying Huo wisely shut up.
