Chapter 1248: BACK AT T UNIVERSITY

LUO YAN watched as their car slowed near T University's main gate, the large stone sign coming into view. The road ahead was packed with other cars dropping off students, all inching toward the parking lots. Through the window, he saw crowds of freshmen dragging suitcases toward the dorms, their families trailing behind with boxes and bags. Upperclassmen in bright vests directed traffic, some holding signs for different departments. The familiar brick academic buildings lined the paths, their windows reflecting the morning sun.

A strange sense of déjà vu washed over him. It felt just like his first day arriving here as a freshman twelve years ago, back when he was still bursting with hopes and dreams for the future. While he didn't feel quite the same now, he was still genuinely excited to study here again. And one of the biggest reasons for that excitement was Shen Ji Yun.

Luo Yan suddenly remembered the day the college entrance examination results were released.

` Three days after the after-party of the Arcadia Cup, Luo Yan sat in front of his laptop, staring at the screen where his college entrance examination scores would appear at exactly 2 PM. That's right. The results had come much earlier than expected. So here he was, waiting. He glanced at the time on his laptop. Ten minutes left. He just had to wait for ten minutes more.

"Are the results out yet?" Luo Jin asked from behind him.

He glanced back at his younger brother. The other had suddenly entered his room after lunch and had been pacing back and forth ever since Luo Yan opened his laptop. Luo Jin's hands were shoved deep in his pockets, his shoulders tense, and his bottom lip caught between his teeth. Every few seconds, his eyes darted to the laptop screen, then to the clock on the wall, as if counting down to an execution.

Luo Yan almost wanted to laugh. Here he was, the one actually waiting for his results, yet Luo Jin looked like he was the one who had taken the exam.

"There are still about ten minutes before the results show up," he said, amused. "Let's be patient."

Seeing Luo Jin let out a frustrated sigh, Luo Yan suddenly felt glad their father and older brother were at work. If they were, they would definitely act just as anxious as Luo Jin. Then he would have three nervous men hovering behind him instead of one.

The minutes passed and the clock hands finally pointed to 2 PM. Luo Yan quickly refreshed the page, only for the website to stutter and freeze. The loading circle spun endlessly, taunting him with its sluggishness. When the login screen finally appeared after what felt like an eternity, it took another ten agonizing minutes before the page fully loaded.

Luo Jin scoffed behind him. "What kind of shit website is this? Are they running this on a potato?"

Luo Yan didn't turn around, but he could hear the scowl in his brother's voice. He said as he typed in his admission ticket number and ID number on the login page, "It can't be helped. With so many people checking their scores at the same time, the site was bound to lag."

As soon as he pressed 'enter', a red error message flashed on the screen: [Login Failed. Server overloaded.] He tried again, only for the page to freeze completely. The third attempt brought up a new message: [Too many users. Please try again later.]

"Okay. That's it. I'm calling Dad," Luo Jin said with a frustrated huff. "I'll ask him to call someone at the Department of Education and get your exam score directly."

Luo Yan turned to his brother just in time to see him pulling out his phone. He quickly stopped him before he could actually do it. "Ah Jin, stop. It's fine if we wait a little longer."

Luo Jin seemed about to say something when Luo Yan's phone rang. He picked up his phone from the desk and saw Shen Ji Yun's video call request flashing on the screen. Without thinking, he accepted it immediately.

Shen Ji Yun's handsome face appeared on the screen. At first glance, most would think he wore his usual indifferent expression, but Luo Yan could tell how excited and happy he really was right now. The reason for that became clear the moment Shen Ji Yun spoke.

"Yan Yan, you got 738 points!"

Before Luo Yan could react, Luo Jin squeezed beside him and demanded, "Is that true? How did you know? We can't even get past the login page."

An awkward look crossed Shen Ji Yun's face for a second before disappearing. He cleared his throat and answered Luo Jin's question, "I have my sources."

Luo Jin narrowed his eyes at Shen Ji Yun but didn't ask anything further. Then he threw an arm around Luo Yan's shoulders and grinned. "Congrats, Yan! 738 points, you must be one of the top scorers in all of S City!"

They heard Shen Ji Yun clear his throat again. When they looked at him, he said with a proud smile, "He tied for second place with one other person."

"That's great!"

Luo Yan almost fell from his seat when Luo Jin hugged him again in excitement. But nothing was really registering in his brain right now. Because all he could think of was, how the hell did Shen Ji Yun know all of this?

Well, after an intense 'interrogation', which was really just Luo Yan teasing him, Shen Ji Yun finally admitted that he had asked Brother Zhao to hack the site that posted the exam results for S City. That way, he could be the one to tell Luo Yan the good news himself.

Luo Yan's first thought when he heard that was 'his boyfriend could really do crazy things sometimes'. And then, being a little crazy himself, he just felt touched by Shen Ji Yun's actions instead of worrying that the other had technically asked someone to commit a crime just to make him happy.
