Chapter 1334: THE PARTY (IV)

Chapter 1334: THE PARTY (IV)

SHEN XIN glanced toward the entrance, barely interested. He didn’t really care about these Luo brothers. He only looked because everyone else did. But when his eyes landed on the two people walking in, his eyes went wide and his mouth fell open. Because one of them was someone he had seen before.

The young man walking with a sweet smile on his face was wearing a white suit that fit his lean figure perfectly. He was the same guy Shen Ji Yun had been clinging to at the shooting range. Shen Xin’s mind went blank for a moment, a jolt of shock running through him. So the guy Shen Ji Yun was dating was actually one of the Luo family’s young masters?

"What the fuck...?" he mumbled under his breath.

Then he slowly turned to look at Shen Ji Yun. The other man was staring at the young master of the Luo family with a look that could only be described as wistful. At least, that was what Shen Xin thought it was, considering Shen Ji Yun usually had no expression on his face at all, like a damn robot. But right now, his eyes practically looked heart shaped while gazing at that Luo kid.

Shen Ji Yun must have felt his stare. He turned and looked at Shen Xin with a frown, like he already knew exactly what was going through his head. It wouldn’t be hard to guess, after all. Shen Xin had never been good at hiding his expressions. The look in Shen Ji Yun’s eyes seemed to say, ’Don’t you dare make a scene here.’ As if he had any right to give him orders. That only made Shen Xin’s annoyance spike.

"Are you fucking me?" he almost snarled.

Shen Lin glanced at his brother, his observation of the Luo brothers momentarily interrupted. He felt like he was on the verge of remembering where he had seen one of them. The shorter one. When they walked into the banquet hall, his eyes had gone straight to him. Not for any particular reason, just a feeling that he had seen that face before. Which was strange. The Luo family was based in S City. There was no reason for Shen Lin to have met this young master. But before he could think where he could have seen the other, he heard Shen Xin mutter a curse under his breath.

He was about to warn his brother to rein himself in, when the matriarch of the Bai family spoke again. His attention shifted back to the stage. He saw that the two Luo brothers were already standing there.

"These are my nephews," Sun Xiulan said, gesturing to the two young men beside her. "Luo Yan and Luo Jin. Tonight, we are celebrating their birthdays together. Please give them a warm welcome." The crowd applauded politely. Sun Xiulan glanced at her nephews and smiled. "Would either of you like to say a few words?"

Luo Jin shook his head. He wasn’t really interested in this party. He was only here because of his family. He wanted to get off the stage and go find Su Yuqi instead. She had been invited to this party as well, of course. From their messages earlier, she was already here with her mother and a cousin.

He scanned the room and quickly spotted her. Su Yuqi was sitting with her mother, and the girl to her left was likely the cousin she had mentioned. She happened to glance up toward the stage at that moment. When their eyes met, she raised an eyebrow at him and smirked. Ah, he really wanted to step off this stage and walk straight over to her.

Luo Yan knew Luo Jin wouldn’t want to say anything, so he took the microphone from his aunt and smiled at the crowd.

"Good evening, everyone. I’m Luo Yan, and this is my brother, Luo Jin. We’re both very grateful that you all took the time to be here with us tonight. We know how busy everyone’s schedules can be, so it means a lot to see so many familiar and new faces in the room." He paused, glancing briefly at the crowd. "This isn’t just a celebration for us. It’s also a chance for our families to come together and share a good evening with all of you. So please, enjoy the food, enjoy the music, and have a wonderful night. Thank you."

He handed the microphone back to his aunt as the crowd applauded.

The three of them stepped down from the stage together. They made their way to the main table where their family was seated. The lights in the banquet hall brightened, and the waitstaff began moving between the tables to serve food and drinks. The soft sound of a string quartet filled the background as people settled in.

"Where’s Ah Ze?" Aunt Xiulan asked, noticing that her son wasn’t at their table.

"He’s with a girl friend," Uncle Chen said, an amused note in his voice. "Ah Ze wanted her to sit with us, but she was too shy, so he decided to just sit with her instead."

Aunt Xiulan’s eyes went wide. "A girlfriend? As in...?"

Uncle Chen chuckled. "Just a friend who happens to be a girl."

An amused glint appeared in Aunt Xiulan’s eyes. "Oh, so that’s how it is. We should definitely go talk to her later."

Luo Yan shook his head helplessly. He had a feeling this ’girl friend’ was Xia Li. He just hoped she wouldn’t be too overwhelmed once she met Aunt Xiulan and Uncle Chen later.

After the first few courses, guests started moving around. Some went to the bar to order drinks. Others walked to different tables to talk to people they knew from business or social circles. The music shifted from soft background to something with a light beat. A few couples made their way to the dance floor. Others stayed at their tables, chatting and eating.

Luo Jin finally couldn’t hold back any longer. He stood up from his seat. "Dad, Aunt, Uncle, I’m going to go talk to Yuqi and her mother."

Once his father nodded, Luo Jin headed straight for the table where Su Yuqi was sitting. He couldn’t wait to ask her to dance.

Seeing his brother head off excitedly to the girl he liked, Luo Ren felt a pang of envy. He wished Yu Jiao was here. They had invited her and her mother, but they were away visiting her maternal family for winter break. So he would have to wait until they returned to see her again.

"It seems that Xiao Qi is our Xiao Jin’s ’girl friend’," Aunt Xiulan said playfully, then turned to Luo Ren. "What about you, Ah Ren? Do you have a ’girl friend’?"

Luo Ren only chuckled. "I do have a friend who’s a girl. And she’s very special."

"Ah, a special friend," Aunt Xiulan said with a knowing look. Then she turned to Luo Yan. "What about you, Xiao Yan? Do you have a special friend too?"

Luo Wei Tian watched as Luo Yan gave an awkward smile in response to Sun Xiulan’s question. But he noticed how his son kept glancing toward the table where Shen Ji Yun was sitting. He could tell Luo Yan wanted to get up and walk over there.

He let out a silent sigh and took a sip of his wine.
