Chapter 1345: LUO YAN’S PACING

Chapter 1345: LUO YAN’S PACING

LUO YAN paced back and forth across the entertainment room floor. He couldn’t sit still. His mind kept returning to the study. He had no idea what was being said in there, and that was what bothered him the most. Was his father being unreasonable? Did Shen Ji Yun manage to explain himself well? He trusted Shen Ji Yun, and he trusted his father. He knew his father wouldn’t be unnecesasry cruel, and that Shen Ji Yun could handle himself. Despite this, he still could not help but worry and wonder.

He wanted to be in that room, not stuck out here, waiting. But he didn’t have a choice. His father said that having him there might change the course of the conversation and influence his opinion. Luo Yan understood that, at least in some way. However, this did not mean that he had to like it. Not that he could do anything about it, of course. Because as much as he didn’t want to admit it, his father was probably right. So he just kept pacing.

"Yan Yan, sit down," Luo Ren called from the couch. "Walking back and forth like that isn’t going to help anything. You’re just going to make yourself dizzy."

"Or make us dizzy," Luo Jin grumbled from where he sat next to Luo Ren. "I’m already feeling dizzy just watching you."

"Don’t worry, Yan Yan. You don’t make me dizzy at all, so you can walk back and forth for as long as you want," Bai Ye said with a sweet grin.

"Xiao Ye, focus on the game, or I’m going to keep beating you," Bai Ze said as his character delivered a roundhouse kick to the one Bai Ye was controlling. "And address Xiao Yan as ’brother’."

"Brother! You can’t just kick me like that while I was talking to Yan Yan!" Bai Ye complained, turning his attention back to the large screen and gripping his controller tightly.

"It’s your fault for not paying attention," Bai Ze said, making his character punch Bai Ye’s on the screen. His younger brother groaned in complaint. Bai Ze glanced over at Luo Yan. "Sit down, Xiao Yan. Don’t worry so much. It’s not like our parents are going to torture him in there."

"Why would Mom and Dad want to torture Brother Ji Yun?" Bai Ye asked innocently, his voice confused.

"Just focus on the game, or I’ll keep kicking your butt," Bai Ze said. His character started beating Bai Ye’s on the screen, and that was enough to completely pull the kid’s attention away.

Luo Yan sighed and sat down between his brothers on the couch. He knew that worrying would not do him any good, but he could not help it. He knew Shen Ji Yun was not going to get hurt, physically or otherwise. His father wasn’t cruel. And after everything that had happened at the party, Luo Yan actually felt like his father had become more accepting of his relationship with Shen Ji Yun. However, the worry did not go away. It just sat in his chest, heavy and quiet.

Perhaps it was because he could feel how much this mattered. This felt like a significant step in their relationship. Getting the approval of everyone who mattered to them. Because how could they ever be truly happy if someone important in their lives didn’t accept their relationship?

At least, for Luo Yan, that would be impossible.

"Don’t overthink it, Yan Yan," Luo Ren said, squeezing his shoulder. "Have some faith in that guy. He’s the last person who would want things to go wrong. So I’m confident he’s not going to do anything to mess this up."

He might still have his own reservations about Shen Ji Yun, but he could see how much the guy loved his brother. And at the end of the day, that was what really mattered.

"Yeah, what he said," Luo Jin chimed in, looking up from his phone as he nodded. "Brother’s right. That guy will not mess this up. He’s too whipped for you to risk it."

This made Luo Yan laugh, and for a moment, the knot of worry in his chest loosened. His brothers weren’t exactly poets, but what they said had actually helped. Luo Jin’s blunt sarcasm and Luo Ren’s steady confidence both did their part to pull him out of his own head. He still felt nervous, but at least he no longer had the urge to stand and pace. He leaned back against the couch and let out a long sigh.

"Thank you," he said to both of them. Luo Ren just smiled. Luo Jin raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything.

After a few minutes, Luo Yan decided to distract himself by playing with Bai Ye. When he asked for the controller, Bai Ze handed it over without hesitation.

Playing with Bai Ye turned out to be more enjoyable than he had anticipated. The kid was loud, cheering and groaning at every move on the screen, his reactions were way bigger than the game actually required. Every time his character landed a hit, he would shout. Every time he was hit, he would let out a dramatic gasp. It was difficult not to be caught up in his energy. Which helped Luo Yan a lot to not overthink.

He lost track of how long they had been playing. But when the door to the entertainment room opened and he saw Shen Ji Yun walk in, he dropped the controller and got to his feet. He crossed the room quickly and threw his arms around him.

Shen Ji Yun was surprised by the enthusiastic greeting, but he quickly recovered and wrapped his arms around Luo Yan. "This is nice. Did you miss me that much?" he whispered.

Luo Yan didn’t answer. He simply held on tighter and nodded. After a moment, he pulled back and looked at Shen Ji Yun’s face, searching for any sign that something had gone wrong. But all he saw was the same handsome face. He even appeared refreshed. That had to be a good sign, right? Still, he had to ask.

"How did the talk go?"

Shen Ji Yun smiled a real, genuine smile. "Your father gave me his approval."
