Chapter 3168: Seemingly Wanting to Crawl Back Into Her Belly

The operating room was a mess. Surgical tools were scattered everywhere.

The monster jumped and tried to pounce on the pregnant woman, seemingly wanting to crawl back into her belly.

Wen Xing pulled the trigger of his gun and hit the creature. It screamed in pain and disappeared.

Ning Shu picked up a pair of gloves from the floor, put them on, and began to examine the pregnant woman’s belly to check for any remaining parasitic creatures in it.

The woman’s abdomen was red and filled with pus. Well, foreign objects inside the body could cause inflammation.

Ning Shu’s gloved hand reached inside the pregnant woman’s abdomen. She felt around and used gauze to wipe off the blood.

Ning Shu removed the clotted blood from the woman’s belly and inspected it carefully.

“Did you find anything?” Wen Xing’s voice was muffled by his mask.

“She has severe inflammation. How could she have endured this?”

Why hadn’t she gone to the hospital sooner?

“Any small monsters in there?” Wen Xing asked.

“This needs to be tested for us to know,” Ning Shu said as she dipped a cotton swab into the pus mixed with blood. She left the operating room and headed to the lab for testing.

The pregnant woman still lay on the operating table, and Ning Shu asked the doctors to stitch her up.

Ning Shu and Wen Xing waited outside the lab.

The doctor came out with the test results.

“What’s in there?” Ning Shu asked.

“Large amounts of dead white blood cells…”

Everyone knows pus was made of dead white blood cells; they were the ones that consumed viruses and bacteria and perished together with them.

Wen Xing directly asked, “What she means is, is there any indication of male stuff, any sperm?”

The doctor: …

“No.”

Ning Shu and Wen Xing both breathed a sigh of relief, as that meant there were no sperm monsters left behind in the woman’s body.

Ning Shu removed her gloves and discarded them in the medical waste bin before leaving the hospital with Wen Xing.

Whenever Ning Shu encountered a pregnant woman, she would use her mental consciousness to check whether there was a real baby inside or if it was a monster.

She dreaded seeing a monster inside a woman’s womb.

Ning Shu took out her phone and made a call. “Hello, I want to report that XX Hospital is selling unregulated medications without national drug approval. The giant sperm monsters had been rubbed out by a man named Xu Hongyuan.”

“This kind of drug was created by humans.”

Since they had resolved the issue of the disaster, it was time to pursue responsibility.

Wen Xing raised an eyebrow but only listened as Ning Shu reported the incident. After she hung up, he said, “The disaster would’ve still happened even if it wasn’t because of Xu Hongyuan. It’s a fixed event.”

“I know. But, even if Xu Hongyuan didn’t want it this way, it’s his fault for taking unregulated drugs.”

“I can’t just let him go after so many women were harmed because of the side effects of his actions. If your dog bites someone, it’s still your responsibility,” Ning Shu coldly said.

Wen Xing stopped talking lest he bring the fire to himself.

He had previously thought highly of her as a capable task-taker but was surprised by her vindictiveness.

Wen Xing believed that as long as the issue was resolved, it’d be enough. Xu Hongyuan’s future days wouldn’t be easy, and someone would eventually pursue him for this matter, anyhow.

After all, someone had to be held accountable for this incident.

But Wen Xing kept these thoughts to himself. He didn’t want to provoke Ning Shu further in case she expanded her anger to all men.

Wen Xing cleared his throat. “Let’s check other hospitals.”

Ning Shu nodded and got on the motorcycle.

Ning Shu and Wen Xing visited more hospitals and stood guard outside their gynecology departments. Ning Shu used her mental consciousness to scan women entering and exiting the buildings, especially those who were heavily pregnant.

After a day of this, Ning Shu was exhausted. She felt as if her spiritual consciousness had been depleted.

Wen Xing, meanwhile, used his copper coins.

Since their monocles couldn’t locate the monsters residing inside human bodies, they had to use the more labor-intensive but effective method.
