Chapter 3224: You Really Did Hide One

Chapter 3224: You Really Did Hide One

For Zhuo Cheran to shoot the emperor dead right in the palace, the emperor must have pushed him too far.

Hadn’t they searched him before he entered the palace?

As for the stationed troops outside the city, they couldn’t stir up much trouble. After all, the emperor had only given him eight hundred soldiers to suppress the uprising, and now only half remained. Once the city gates were closed, those men would be stuck.

The real question was whether there were any of Zhuo Cheran’s men within the palace guard, and whether they’d switch sides at the last moment. After all, Zhuo Cheran had the protagonist’s halo.

Ning Shu asked Marquis Xuanping, “Father, is everyone else in the palace now?”

“They are,” he replied.

After a moment’s thought, Ning Shu said, “Father, I have something to give you.”

The marquis called over a young servant to follow Ning Shu. They returned to his study together.

Back in her courtyard, Ning Shu reached under her pillow and pulled out a gun. She then wrapped it in a handkerchief.

“Give this to my father… Nevermind. I’ll speak to him myself,” she said.

In the study, Ning Shu went straight to the marquis and said, “Father, take me into the palace.”

“Ridiculous! You’re a young woman, and the palace is in chaos right now. Why would you go in?” the marquis scolded her.

Ning Shu unwrapped the handkerchief. “I have another gun. If needed, I can use it to kill Zhuo Cheran. Once he’s dead, Prince Xin’s household won’t be able to cause any major waves.”

“You really did hide one,” the marquis said. His eyes were fixed on the weapon in her hand.

“That’s not the point,” Ning Shu replied.

“You want to go into the palace and kill Zhuo Cheran?” he asked, staring straight at her. She now seemed unfamiliar to him. “Do you even understand what you’re saying?”

So it was fine for men to kill, but if a woman did it, she was suddenly a venomous shrew? Somehow less pure, less admirable?

“Father, I’m a decent shot. This thing can kill from a distance. In fact, you could even present it to the crown prince or one of the other imperial princes,” she suggested. “But once Zhuo Cheran is dealt with, others will surely come to demand this weapon from you. If you say there’s only one, will they believe you?”

The marquis rubbed his eyebrows. He wanted Zhuo Cheran dead more than anyone else did.

It was a gamble, and on top of that, one that meant his entire household would be wiped out if he lost.

“I can kill Zhuo Cheran quietly, without exposing the gun,” Ning Shu promised. “This is all for the good of our household.”

The marquis shook his head. “The palace is on lockdown. No one can get in.”

That was a problem. Ning Shu pressed her lips together. This wouldn’t be easy.

“Give it to me. I’ll find a way to get it into the palace. As for which imperial prince it ends up with… well, that’s out of our hands,” the marquis said.

He summoned his hidden guards and ordered them to find someone with an unfamiliar face to deliver the weapon into the palace.

Ning Shu looked at the guard and heard her father say, “Every family has its hidden resources.”

“You really only have one gun left?” the marquis asked her.

Ning Shu raised her hand in a vow. “This is truly the last one. I swear.”

“You’d better not be lying,” the marquis warned. His expression was dark. “Otherwise, I’ll have your mother search your room herself.”

“Go ahead. I really don’t have any more,” she insisted. “After this, keeping something like that would only bring trouble.”

She might even be suspected of being the gun’s creator.

Someone was probably already investigating where the weapon had come from.
