Quick Transmigration Cannon Fodder’s Record of Counterattacks

Chapter 3378: Demon Record (1)

Chapter 3378: Demon Record (1)

Without sufficient spiritual energy, many of them couldn’t even maintain their humanoid forms and were ultimately dealt with by the Special Investigation Bureau, all to prevent mass panic.

Ordinary people believed they lived in a world governed entirely by science, and the government made sure nothing emerged to shake that belief.

It was all about maintaining public order.

Some demons worked diligently, while others caused trouble.

Her entrustor, Yuan Liang, was an eagle demon.

He had always lived alone and worked as a webcomic artist.

Just imagine an eagle sitting in front of a laptop drawing webcomics—what a disturbing image.

He was a total shut-in, and he barely made enough to get by.

He was an eagle, so his eyesight should’ve been excellent, but he wore glasses and stared at a screen all day. Even demons were getting myopia now.

Computers and phones were truly toxic.

Originally, Yuan Liang had been just an ordinary demon, who also was a hopelessly single, reclusive otaku.

One day, while out shopping, he ran into a girl.

There were quite a few demons chasing after her.

She bumped into Yuan Liang in a panic.

Then, she hid behind him and begged for his help.

From her scent, Yuan Liang could tell the girl was human. However, she carried demonic energy on her body.

A human with demonic energy. And not just any—it was dense.

Such thick demonic energy was irresistibly tempting to demons.

The girl must be pregnant with a demon’s offspring.

And possibly the offspring of a powerful demon, given how rich the energy was.

In this modern society where spiritual energy was rapidly disappearing, devouring the girl—and the demonic fetuses in her womb—would provide demons immense benefit.

Which meant this girl was basically like Tang Sanzang’s flesh. She was irresistible to demons.

The girl hid behind Yuan Liang.

Yuan Liang was a demon after all. His fingers morphed into talons, and he swiftly drove off the little demons.

Only then did the girl breathe a sigh of relief and thank Yuan Liang.

Yuan Liang picked up the items that had fallen to the ground, lifted the bag, and prepared to leave.

But the girl followed him.

The demon fetuses inside the girl’s uterus was greatly appetising to Yuan Liang. He nearly lost control and almost plunged his hand into her stomach to extract the demon offspring and stuff it into his mouth.

Human food had no energy to speak of.

Yet the girl believed Yuan Liang was a good person. After all, he’d helped her drive away those demons from earlier, and she insisted on tagging along with him.

She practically clung to him shamelessly as she followed Yuan Liang all the way home.

Yuan Liang was on the verge of tearing the girl apart and devouring her flesh and blood.

But the girl didn’t seem to notice. She kept trying desperately to get closer to him.

In the end, the girl moved in with Yuan Liang, and he even had to expend his own energy to conceal her demonic energy.

Otherwise, other demons would keep come swarming in to her.

And so began their cohabitation.

The girl was carrying a snake egg. As an eagle, snakes were Yuan Liang’s natural enemies.

That feeling was unbearable.

Several times, while he was sound asleep, Yuan Liang’s hands had turned into talons, ready to slice open the girl’s stomach.

But when he looked at her peaceful sleeping face, he couldn’t bring himself to do it, and forced himself to suppress his instincts.

He kept replaying the girl’s expressions and smile in his mind.

Yes, that was right—Yuan Liang seemed to have fallen in love with her.

As a shut-in demon, Yuan Liang was pathetic enough to fall for a girl who was pregnant by another man.

He kept looking after her until she gave birth to two eggs.

Then he continued caring for them until the little snakes hatched.

He should have torn the snakes apart immediately, but instead, he found himself stroking them, tending to them.

He treated them like his own children by doing things like buying meat for them, and not just any meat, but the good stuff.

Yuan Liang felt that this kind of life was actually quite nice. Even though he was raising two greedy little snakes…

Living with the girl was worth it.

She was the first reader of his webcomic, and she’d even give him feedback.

The webcomic they created together was far better than the ones he made alone in the past.

And his income became a bit higher too.

But the girl didn’t have any special feelings for Yuan Liang. At most, she felt gratitude towards him for saving her life.

And she seemed to be waiting for someone.

Then one day, the snake king appeared. When he saw his sons tangled around an eagle’s hand, he attacked without a word.

Before the girl could even react, the snake king had already killed Yuan Liang—turning him into a dead eagle.

The girl knew full well that Yuan Liang had saved her and looked after the babies, so she was furious that the snake king had killed him.

The snake king coldly explained that eagles and snakes were natural enemies. Yuan Liang had only fed the children to fatten them up for later consumption.

The demon world was cruel like that.

The girl was half-convinced, half-doubtful. In the end, she at least buried Yuan Liang’s body.

Not that burial meant much. It was highly likely a demon would dig him up and eat him.

The world without spiritual energy was just that miserable.

The dead Yuan Liang had felt deeply complicated feelings. Of course he felt unwilling to accept his death. His heart felt icy cold.

Ning Shu sighed. This was the real life version of The Farmer and the Snake.

But snakes and eagles were natural enemies. When they met, of course they’d fight to the death.

The root of all this, however, was that Yuan Liang had fallen in love with the girl—the girl who was pregnant with snake babies.

That was why Yuan Liang endured everything.

Kindness was not strength. If anything, kindness required strength.

Yuan Liang’s wish was to live. He didn’t want to be killed by the snake king. Secretly, he was also thinking of ways to make sure the snake king got what he deserved.

Ning Shu pulled up her trousers and winced. Her haemorrhoids were acting up.

Even demons weren’t immune to such ailments?

It was probably because her entrustor had been sitting at the laptop all day and developed them from prolonged sitting.

Ning Shu thought for a moment and decided to try using her ordinance of water power.

She pointed a finger lightly in front of her, and a droplet of water the size of a football appeared.

She intended to use the water to flush the toilet. However, the water dropped with a splash, hitting the toilet bowl and splattering everywhere.

Her trousers were soaked. Even her unmentionable areas were wet.

Ning Shu: …

A bit rusty—wasn’t as smooth as back in the City of Water.

This was the highest level of control she could manage. It wouldn’t affect the balance of the plane.

Still, she could at least form water into arrows. It counted as an attack technique.

Ning Shu changed into dry trousers and sat cross-legged on the bed to begin cultivating.

As she was lost in thought, she looked down and saw that her hands had transformed into sharp eagle talons. The talons glinted coldly.

One was the snake king. The other, just an ordinary mountain eagle. The power gap between them was enormous.

The worst part was, the snake king hadn’t even given him a chance to defend himself. He’d just killed him right then and then.

Yuan Liang hadn’t even had a chance to fight back.

Only with power would one earn the right to be kind.

The eagle talons slowly transformed into pale, slender fingers. Ning Shu began to cultivate slowly.

The snake king and that girl were probably the male and female leads of this world.

As for her entrustor, he felt more like a temporary bodyguard.

And falling for that girl made for a very solid reason to protect her.

The rightful male lead arrived and saw the mother of his children actually together with another man, and not just any man, but his natural enemy.

To hand his children over to a natural enemy in such dangerous circumstances…

His anger and jealousy surged. He lashed out and killed Yuan Liang. But then again, Yuan Liang was also very weak.

He died in an instant.

Even if things were explained afterwards, once a person was dead, they were gone for good.

To be fair, her entrustor, Yuan Liang, had been gambling on luck. Since the pregnant girl exuded such powerful demonic energy, he should have realised she was carrying a great demon’s offspring.

But the children’s father had never shown up, so he assumed something had happened to him. Perhaps he’d died.

A stream of fiery yang energy surged into Ning Shu’s body.

Ning Shu felt extremely unwell.

The fiery yang energy was the most potent yang force of heaven and earth, and it seemed to clash with the demonic energy in her entrustor’s body.

The resulting tug-of-war made her body ache.

With a point of her finger, a droplet of water appeared before her. Ning Shu took a sip, and the dryness in her throat eased a little.

Spiritual energy was scarce in modern planes, and there was barely anything that could be absorbed there. However, the fiery yang energy seemed to conflict with demonic energy.

That meant cultivation was out of the question for her now.

The yin gathering formation only attracted sinister, malevolent yin energy.

Cultivating with yin energy? What nonsense. Was she trying to become a ghost or a demon?

Her only option seemed to be to cultivate the Unsurpassable Martial Arts by absorbing celestial star energy.

She might as well just swallow starlight essence. What, was she supposed to sneak up to the rooftop every night?

In big cities like this, with car exhaust and all sorts of pollution, you couldn’t even see the stars at night.

Life was a bit miserable for demons living in the city.

Ning Shu rested her chin in her palm and sighed.

How could she gather celestial star energy? That was a problem.

It seemed only one of the worlds she’d been to before had used celestial star energy.

Ning Shu rubbed her stomach. She was a little hungry. She got out of bed, dragged her slippers on, and opened the fridge.

There wasn’t much food inside. Eventually, she found a bag of frozen dumplings in the freezer compartment.

She decided to boil them.

With a point of her finger at the pot, half a pot of clear water appeared inside. It was incredibly convenient.

She then went to turn on the gas, but no matter what she did, it wouldn’t ignite.

She gave the gas cylinder a shake and discovered it was completely empty.

Ning Shu fumed. She got so angry she nearly ate the dumplings raw.

Fortunately, she had previously exchanged for some fasting pills. She took one, and her hunger subsided a little.

Ning Shu opened the curtains and the window.

The apartment unit Yuan Liang lived in wasn’t big. It was also rented.

Sunlight streamed into the unit. It stung her eyes slightly. She opened the window to let in some fresh air.

He lived alone in a narrow apartment unit. He’d certainly lived a cramped life.

But once that girl arrived, this place would probably start to feel cosy.

Ning Shu grabbed her phone, took some money, and headed to the convenience store downstairs on the street to buy a few things.

She also planned to carry a new gas cylinder home.

Occasionally, one still needed to eat for the sake of flavour.

Fasting pills were only for use when things were truly difficult.

Ning Shu counted on her fingers. There was still some time before she would encounter the female lead.

Until then, she needed to figure out a way to cultivate.

She could only use her ordinance power when absolutely necessary, especially since she hadn’t yet mastered it fully.

At most, she’d conjure some water when she was thirsty, or occasionally practise water attacks.

Regardless, she still had to cultivate the Unsurpassable Martial Arts.

With a bag in one hand and a gas cylinder slung over her shoulder, Ning Shu made her way home.

Her entrustor wasn’t utterly weak, either. After all, he was also a demon.

He was thin, yes, but he still had some strength to him.

But he was a nearsighted eagle.

He initially had sharp eyes, but now they had become a pair of blurry, nearsighted ones.

Everything he saw was a blur.

If he were in the mountains, how was he supposed to hunt, for Heaven’s sake?

Humans weren’t the only ones affected by the changing times. Demons had changed, too.

Ning Shu carried the gas cylinder home, got everything ready, and resumed cooking the dumplings.

Demons had rather high daily energy needs, and in order to avoid reverting to their original form, they had no choice but to eat a lot every day.
