Chapter 3395: Demon Record (18)
Ning Shu pointed at An Yujun in the snake king’s arms and shouted, “Whoa, looks like your woman has been envenomed.”
An Yujun was merely an incomparably fragile human. How could she possibly withstand the snake king’s venom?
Her face had turned all sorts of colors and was swelling up.
The snake king was startled. He had no choice but to open his mouth wide and suck the venom mist back in.
He could suck it back? That skill really rendered one speechless.
The immediate crisis was averted, and Ning Shu heaved a sigh of relief internally.
She still didn’t dare lower the water barrier, however. The snake king was a very sinister person.
Through the water barrier, Ning Shu saw the snake king feed An Yujun a pill. It was likely the anti-venom.
Not long after swallowing it, the kaleidoscope of colors on An Yujun’s face faded slightly.
So he did have an anti-venom, yet he claimed he didn’t.
Ning Shu just wanted to roll her eyes. She looked down at her chest—it was a bloody mess, after being first corroded by the venom and then carved out by herself.
No compromise. She absolutely would not compromise.
No matter what, she had to keep the snake king stuck here.
An Yujun was crying from the pain. She had inhaled the venom mist while still in her postpartum confinement period, plus the room temperature was extremely low.
An Yujun couldn’t handle it. The root of her health had been slightly damaged.
Especially since she had just given birth, and there were still eggshells inside her body.
The snake king frowned. While holding An Yujun, he said, “Don’t cry. It’s okay.”
Right now, in the snake king’s heart, this woman was merely the one continuing his bloodline. One could say she held a somewhat special spot, but to call it love, it was still a bit too early.
After all, this was only their second meeting.
That was why he hadn’t considered An Yujun when he spewed the venom mist.
The snake king took a deep breath. He looked at Ning Shu on the other side of the water wall, wanting to say something, but couldn’t open his mouth.
The demon in front of him was immune to both coercion and persuasion, and stubborn as a mule.
Ning Shu’s ears twitched, and she said with a smile, “Seems like someone’s here. Must be the Special Investigation Bureau folks.”
The snake king’s eyes turned incomparably scarlet as he stared at Ning Shu. “You’ve got guts!”
Of course she’d got guts!
Soon, several people stood at the door. There were people dressed in Daoist robes, men in military uniforms—both men and women—and even several demons.
Did demons work for the Special Investigation Bureau too?
They were blocked outside by Ning Shu’s barrier.
The snake king looked gloomily at Ning Shu. “You think the Special Investigation Bureau people will let you off?”
Ning Shu tapped a finger. The water barrier at the door opened a hole. The people outside had just been planning to use their full arsenal of martial arts to break the barrier open.
But unexpectedly, the barrier opened first.
A capable-looking woman, dressed in a leather jacket and leather pants, was the first to enter the room.
The leather pants hugged her long legs tight, making them look straight and slender. She looked indescribably sexy and alluring.
Especially as she walked—the mysterious triangular zone was particularly captivating.
Seeing the messy room, her gaze first stopped on the snake king. She said, “Snake King.”
When the snake king saw this woman, his expression wasn’t very good.
The woman saw An Yujun in the snake king’s arms. “Are you holding a human hostage? That violates the Special Investigation Bureau’s regulations. You have to come back with us.”
The snake king smiled coldly. Then, he pulled An Yujun close and gave her a passionate, lingering kiss. He then released her lips and said to the woman, “Have you ever seen a hostage treated like this?”
An Yujun, who had suddenly been kissed by the snake king, flushed a shade of crimson.
Her eyes held watery ripples and were covered by a layer of mist. She appeared dazed and at a loss, yet seemingly cute.
The woman turned her face, cold as frost, and looked at Ning Shu.
Ning Shu’s head was covered by the square ice block, so her appearance couldn’t be seen clearly.
“And what demon are you?” The woman scanned the situation in the room and the frozen snakes.
A light flickered slightly in her eyes.
Ning Shu said in a lowered voice, “I’m just a nobody.”
“What’s your name?” the woman said, taking out her phone, seemingly to check Ning Shu’s data.
“Why are you asking for my name?” Ning Shu asked.
“To be able to trap the snake king who escaped from the Special Investigation Bureau, your power shouldn’t be underestimated. We humans must have a file for demons like you. Speak. What’s your name, and what kind of demon are you?”
Before Ning Shu could speak, the little white snake popped its head out from the snake king’s arms and shouted, “He’s called Yuan Liang. His true form is a blind eagle.”
“Yuan Liang, Eagle…” The woman tapped on the phone screen.
Ning Shu turned her head to look at the little white snake. The little white snake immediately shrank back into the snake king’s clothes.
“Show your face. We need a photo,” the woman said to Ning Shu.
Ning Shu furrowed her eyebrows tightly beneath the ice, then said, “My face was corroded by venom mist. Even if you take a photo, you won’t see anything.”
The snake king sneered and said, “I told you. Once the Bureau sees a powerful demon, they’ll try every method to send that great demon either to the operating table or the dinner table.”
“Vile beast, hand over the stolen item!” the old Daoist shouted at the Snake King.
The snake king flicked his scarlet tongue and said grimly, “It’s in my hands, so it’s mine.”
The old Daoist led several burly demons to surround the snake king.
The snake king looked coldly at the demons. “As demons, you’re actually lowly enough to be running dogs for humans. If I become the demon king ruling ten thousand demons, the first ones I kill will be demons like you.”
The demons stayed silent. The old Daoist had some skill. Hhe flicked his horsetail whisk, formed hand seals, and worked with the demons to engage the snake king.
Ning Shu watched silently from the side, while the leather-clad woman stood beside her, constantly sizing her up.
“You haven’t done any crime or misdemeanour, have you?” the woman asked Ning Shu in a chilly voice.
Ning Shu said, “I certainly haven’t done anything illegal. I don’t believe you can’t find my info. I’m just an ordinary, plain demon.”
The woman curved her lips up. “I’m the chief of the Special Investigation Bureau.”
Ning Shu gave an ‘oh,’ then said, “Hello, Chief.”
The woman walked up to Ning Shu and leaned close to her ear. “We might be of the same kind.”
Ning Shu blinked. “You’re a demon too?”
The woman smiled slightly. Her smile actually had the flavor of a supreme, era-toppling beauty’s smile. “Playing dumb, are we?”
Ning Shu didn’t speak. Even if this woman really was a task-taker, Ning Shu couldn’t ascertain whether she was friend or foe, so she didn’t respond.
And she definitely wouldn’t expose her identity.
If it were before, Ning Shu might have been happy to meet a colleague in the same world.
But now that she was the embodiment of an ordinance. She had transformed from an obscure, unnoticed task-taker into the embodiment of the water ordinance.
This kind of attention carried malice.
Ning Shu didn’t know if this woman was friend or foe, so she had to be cautious.
Even if the woman saw something from the battle traces in the room, as long as Ning Shu couldn’t ascertain whether this woman was a friend or foe, she would deny it to the death.
Ning Shu remained unmoved. The woman didn’t get annoyed. She stood side-by-side with Ning Shu, watching the battle scene, seemingly not planning to intervene.
