Chapter 3450: Diva, Diva (7)
When the works eventually clashed, the resulting plagiarism scandal will be enough to make Qiao Ling’er’s reputation plummet.
Qiao Ling’er’s scripts were provided directly by the system, and she did not actually know how to write one herself. What was puzzling was that no one seemed to wonder how a newcomer could suddenly produce such professional scripts. Writing a screenplay was by no means an easy task.
Ning Shu seriously suspected that the system possessed an ability to lower the intelligence of those around the host. Otherwise, people wouldn’t believe Qiao Ling’er so unconditionally.
The email status showed it had been sent, and Ning Shu took a moment to stretch. Then she began writing more lyrics. These songs were all massive, chart-topping hits from other worlds. In the original storyline, Qiao Ling’er used them to seduce various men. One of her targets, a pop singer, was an adorable music nut who lived in his own world. Qiao Ling’er used these legendary songs to successfully bridge the distance between them and capture his heart.
To be clear, she captured the hearts of several such men.
Ning Shu tapped her head, trying hard to recall the melodies and lyrics. She slowly pecked away at the keyboard. Suddenly, a ‘ding’ signaled an incoming email. A famous screenwriter had replied, asking what Ning Shu meant by sending the outline.
Ning Shu simply stated that she was selling the outline and the creative concept. The screenwriter told her flatly that if she wanted to sell, it would be a one-time buyout. After the payment, the script would have absolutely nothing to do with Ning Shu, and she would not be allowed to mention it ever again.
Ning Shu agreed immediately. They reached an accord, and Ning Shu provided the bank account of a charity organization, instructing the screenwriter to transfer the money directly there. She emphasized repeatedly that she hoped the screenwriter would finish the work and get it onto the silver screen.
Once she finished with the screenwriter, Ning Shu sent the songs to the email of the pop singer’s manager. This pop singer was a complete music fanatic who didn’t care much for romance. Music was the only thing in his life, and that was exactly how Qiao Ling’er had captured him. She didn’t just target the pop singer, but also famous composers and lyricists. These were classic, time-tested songs from other planes.
Ning Shu rubbed her neck, stood up, and poured a glass of water. After a few sips, she rolled out a yoga mat and began exercising to maintain her figure. This task could be considered either difficult or simple. Stripped of her rebirth and her system, Qiao Ling’er was just a third-rate artist. Therefore, Ning Shu needed to strip away her halo and destroy her advantages. Once the system saw that Qiao Ling’er had no more value, it would naturally detach from her. When that happened, 2333 would be able to devour the rogue system.
Ning Shu twisted her body into various positions, grunting with the effort. The laptop on the coffee table chimed with another email. She struggled to untangle her legs and reached for the computer. It was a message from the pop singer’s manager.
His tone was quite arrogant. He asked directly how much she wanted for the lyrics, implying that money was no object. As expected of a superstar’s manager, he was brimming with confidence. Ning Shu replied that she was willing to sell all of them. She had no objection to a total buyout of the naming rights and told him to just send the money.
The manager was generous, offering over one hundred thousand immediately. Ning Shu didn’t mind the amount and provided the account number for a Hope Primary School, telling him to send the payment there. She didn’t want to keep the money for herself. If she took it, there would be a paper trail, and she didn’t want any unnecessary trouble.
The manager agreed and mentioned that if she had more lyrics to sell in the future, she should come to them first. Ning Shu gave a short affirmative. The man was a man of action; he transferred the money immediately and even sent Ning Shu a screenshot of the transaction. He had transferred 200,000 and made the donation in the name of the pop singer. After all, charity work was always good for a celebrity’s image. Ning Shu sent a short reply acknowledging that she had seen it.
Now that she had blocked some of Qiao Ling’er’s paths, Ning Shu took out her phone and scrolled through her photos. She found the one of Yue Wenlun grabbing Qiao Ling’er’s hand to wipe off the water. After a moment of thought, she decided to create a post with the title—#Shocking! Best Actor Award Winner Caught in Ambiguous Moment with Mysterious Actress: Who Is She?#
Ning Shu attached the photo. Due to the angle, the image looked incredibly intimate. Qiao Ling’er was looking up at Yue Wenlun with what seemed like adoring eyes while he held her hand. It definitely looked like something was going on. Furthermore, staff members were visible in the background, making it clear they weren’t currently filming a scene.
Yue Wenlun was immensely popular, so the post gained traction almost instantly, with the comment section growing rapidly. Most of the comments were from his female fans, all of them trying to dig up the identity of this woman. At this stage, Qiao Ling’er was just a fresh-faced newcomer who had barely entered the industry, so no matter how much they searched, they couldn’t find anything on her.
Ning Shu then switched to a different IP and account to make a second post. This one claimed the previous post was just a marketing stunt intended to drum up interest for the movie. To truly stir the pot, one needed to introduce conflicting voices and get people arguing.
In Ning Shu’s opinion, Yue Wenlun should actually thank her. She was, after all, increasing the exposure and buzz for his movie. Production companies often manufactured scandals for their actors just to grab the public’s attention. Regardless of the early exposure, if Yue Wenlun and Qiao Ling’er really did have an affair and he began protecting her, he would be doing so while he still had a girlfriend. His ‘mature and responsible’ persona would likely crumble.
Even if many people disliked Mu Shuyao as the Best Actor award winner’s official girlfriend, she was still the one he had publicly acknowledged. If he was acting intimately with another woman, Mu Shuyao would be the victim in the eyes of the public.
Yue Wenlun’s studio responded quickly. Their PR team was very capable and soon posted an explanation on Weibo. They claimed his actions were simply because water had been splashed on the actress’s hand and he was helping her wipe it off. They also threatened to take legal action against those spreading slander.
Yue Wenlun’s fans were instantly comforted and began praising the Best Actor award winner for being such a kind man. However, there were still dissenting voices who felt the behavior was far too intimate. Some trolls even flocked to Ning Shu’s Weibo to gloat, claiming she was being dumped.
Ning Shu ignored them. She scrolled through her Weibo homepage, looking at the various comments. None of it was her concern, so she offered no response.
She put down the computer and went back to contorting her body to improve her flexibility. After working up a sweat, she took a shower and began her cultivation. With a bit of martial prowess, she would at least be able to dodge more quickly if people started throwing eggs at her. The entertainment industry was an industry of fame and fortune, but it was also a place of endless drama. It was a complete ecosystem. While stars stood at the top, there were always paparazzi and tabloids digging for scandals to satisfy the public’s hunger for gossip.
In short, the media and the stars were in a codependent relationship. The internal struggles and backstabbing here were far more severe than in other industries. To enjoy the fame and the money, these were the things one had to endure.
