Chapter 3498: Martial Aunt (15)
Dealing with someone like this was so stifling. Ning Shu could not beat her, and she could not do anything to her. She felt like she was going to explode on the spot.
Ning Shu silently recited a heart-clearing chant to suppress the irritability rising within her. This feeling was partly due to the lingering resentment left behind by the original host. A cultivator’s spiritual consciousness was powerful, so even after death, traces of their will remained in the physical form.
Ning Shu took a deep breath, then another, and another. “I do not know for certain if that mountain was the ruins of a Divine Dao sect, but it is always right to investigate such things. Now the whole thing has vanished into thin air. What are we going to do? What are we going to do?”
Ning Shu addressed Qi Cheng directly. She refused to speak to Yi Youxuan.
I cannot afford to provoke you, so I just will not talk to you at all.
“What are we going to do?” Qi Cheng was nearly dazed by Ning Shu’s repetitive questioning. How was he supposed to know? Now that the item was gone, he could only say, “We will just tell the truth.”
“Oh? A giant mountain vanished without a trace. Do you think the sect leader will believe that?” Ning Shu asked with a stony face.
“After all this talk, you still just think I took it.” Yi Youxuan pulled her bow back to its limit, the arrow pointed directly at Ning Shu. “Produce evidence, or else I will not allow you to slander me like this. You are just looking for revenge and trying to pin everything on me.”
Oh, my temper is really going now.
Ning Shu snapped, “If you are so capable, then shoot. Go ahead and shoot!”
Yi Youxuan’s expression turned cold. She pulled the Houyi Bow back even further and then released the arrow toward Ning Shu.
Ning Shu spun her body to dodge the projectile, but the arrow turned in mid-air and flew back toward her.
With a serious expression, Ning Shu drew a flying sword. When the arrow and the sword collided, the flying sword was snapped in half by the force of the Houyi Bow. The arrow continued its path, aimed straight for the space between Ning Shu’s eyebrows.
Ning Shu reached out and caught the arrow. Her hand immediately felt as if it had been splashed with boiling oil.
The momentum of the arrow dragged Ning Shu through the air. It moved so incredibly fast that the fierce wind distorted her facial features.
Ning Shu felt ridiculous.
Yi Youxuan watched Ning Shu flying back and forth in the sky with an indifferent gaze. Qi Cheng said somewhat helplessly, “You girl, stop being so naughty.”
“She is your martial aunt after all. Do not embarrass your elders like this.” Qi Cheng ignored Ning Shu, who was still being dragged through the air, and focused on lecturing his disciple.
Yi Youxuan crossed her arms. “Has she acted even a bit like an elder? She is only targeting me because I defeated her before. She has been nursing a grudge ever since and is just waiting for a chance to frame me.”
“Are you saying you do not even allow people to resent you?” Qi Cheng asked with a sigh.
“When it comes to cats and dogs like her, you have to beat them until they are afraid. That way, she will stay out of my way in the future and not dare to come looking for trouble.”
As she spoke, Yi Youxuan pulled out another arrow and aimed it at Ning Shu, who was still flying wildly through the sky.
A slight, calculating smile played on the corners of Yi Youxuan’s mouth. She was in an excellent mood after having just obtained a great treasure, and she felt like teaching this talkative woman a lesson.
Ning Shu was always trying to throw mud at her. Today, she would deal with this woman. If Ning Shu wasn’t strong enough and died, she deserved it.
It would stop her from running her mouth.
Ning Shu looked back and saw Yi Youxuan aiming at her. It looked like the girl truly intended to kill her.
Ning Shu gripped the arrow with both hands and used raw strength to force it to a halt.
Yi Youxuan smiled slightly and released the string of her bow. A second arrow flew toward Ning Shu.
Ning Shu’s hair whipped around her face, her pupils reflecting the high-speed projectile hurtling toward her.
She took a deep breath and threw the arrow she was holding directly at the incoming one.
The arrow was coated in the energy of her Unsurpassable Martial Arts.
The two arrows collided mid-air, tip to tip. With a sharp clink, they both fell to the ground.
She had used the opponent’s own spear to strike their shield.
Yi Youxuan’s expression did not change. She brought out another divine artifact. It was a sword with a hilt adorned with luxurious, ornate patterns.
As soon as the sword appeared, the air vibrated with a chorus of sword-cries, filling the area with sharp intent.
What a ‘bitchy’ sword.1This is a pun in the original Chinese. The word for ‘sword’ (剑 – jiàn) sounds exactly like the word for ‘cheap/low/bitchy’ (贱 – jiàn). Ning Shu is insulting both the weapon and its owner.
The girl had an endless supply of divine artifacts.
Ning Shu patted herself down but could not find a single magic tool worth mentioning—at least, nothing that could compare to Yi Youxuan’s collection.
In Yi Youxuan’s immortal estate, there were all sorts of weapons. She had every one of the eighteen types of traditional weapons, and every single one was a divine artifact.
God damn it.
But fight she would. Why wouldn’t she? Even if she were going to die, she would fight.
If all else failed, she would take Yi Youxuan down with her.
Yi Youxuan held the sword and stood opposite Ning Shu.
She performed a beautiful sword flourish and charged at Ning Shu. Ning Shu untied a red silk ribbon with bells from her waist. This was a piece of red silk with bells attached to both ends.
It was a decent magic tool. The original host had been searching for a life-bound magic tool but had not yet found a suitable one.
The divine sword in Yi Youxuan’s hand released a sharp arc of sword-energy that instantly sliced through Ning Shu’s red silk ribbon.
Ning Shu: …
Good grief.
If that had been a life-bound magic tool, she would have been coughing up blood after it was severed like that.
Without a weapon to protect her, Ning Shu had to fight Yi Youxuan’s divine artifact with her bare hands.
She felt like things were going very poorly.
Ning Shu sank her spiritual energy into her internal core and released a surge of energy shaped like a dragon.
The dragon-shaped energy rose up from behind Ning Shu. The head of the spiritual dragon roared toward the sky. It looked lifelike, its eyes seemingly filled with spirit.
Yi Youxuan frowned as she looked at the creature rushing toward her. It looked like a dragon, but also like a spirit beast.
She did not dare be careless and struck out with a powerful wave of sword-energy, slicing the spirit water dragon in half at the waist.
Ning Shu flicked her finger, and the severed dragon instantly reformed. It let out a silent roar and charged at Yi Youxuan again.
Yi Youxuan glanced at Ning Shu, who was hovering in the air. “You are slightly more capable than before, but it is still not enough.”
Yi Youxuan struck out several more times, her sharp sword-energy tearing the dragon-shaped force into scattered pieces.
Ning Shu shrugged and poured out even more spiritual energy. The shattered force reformed once again, becoming even larger than before.
“Interesting,” Yi Youxuan said calmly. She looked at the massive spiritual dragon and curled her lip. She sheathed her sword and pulled out a bottle.
She opened the bottle, and a thick, heavy flame poured out. As soon as the fire touched the dragon-shaped energy, it began to burn fiercely, threatening to consume the spiritual energy entirely.
“This is Innate True Fire. It burns all things in the world, including spiritual energy,” Yi Youxuan explained indifferently. She pulled out a second bottle. “This is Red Lotus Karmic Fire. It uses the seven emotions and six desires of all living things as fuel. The more sins a person has committed, the more intensely it burns.”
Then, Yi Youxuan pulled out a third bottle. “This is Nine Heavens Divine Wind Fire. It burns everything. It is like wind, yet it is fire. It can incinerate all things, leaving only nothingness in its wake.”
Ning Shu: …
Wow, how impressive!
So many treasures. Ning Shu could feel her spirit water dragon being burned away. She could not even retract her energy, or the flames would follow the connection back to her body.
Ning Shu was truly impressed by this cheat. Using one type of fire would have been enough, but she had brought out three.
