Chapter 3504: Martial Aunt (21)
The sect leader’s sudden decision to bar Yi Youxuan from the hidden realm made both Qi Cheng and his disciple suspicious. The claim that she was ‘too strong’ was clearly just an excuse.
There was no logic in forbidding someone from entering just because they were powerful.
As for the grand elder, he was someone who practically never appeared. No one even knew if he was still alive or if he had already ascended.
He rarely showed himself, so why would he specifically send word regarding a minor matter like whether a Foundation Establishment disciple could enter a hidden realm?
Who were they trying to fool?
Qi Cheng was, after all, a master at the Spirit Transformation realm. He was very displeased that the sect would treat his disciple this way without a valid reason.
“Sect Leader, this will not do. My disciple is clearly the first-place winner, yet she is forbidden from entering. How can the others be expected to accept this? At the very least, I do not accept it.” His disciple deserved what she had earned.
The sect leader rubbed his eyebrows. He was only being polite for the sake of Qi Cheng’s status, yet Qi Cheng refused to yield even an inch. The sect leader began to wonder if his own authority was even worth anything.
However, he also knew that he had no real way to stop Yi Youxuan using that excuse.
“Fine, have it your way. If she wants to go, let her go. Just tell her to show some restraint inside. The barrier of the hidden realm is fluctuating violently regardless.” The sect leader waved his hand, telling them both to get out!
Yi Youxuan admitted she was powerful, but she wasn’t so strong that she could break a realm’s barrier. The idea that her presence alone would shatter it was ridiculous. They really should have found a better excuse.
Qi Cheng led Yi Youxuan out of the main hall, where they ran into Ning Shu as she strolled toward them. In the blink of an eye, Ning Shu flew right up to them.
“What a coincidence! You two are here too!” Ning Shu greeted them with a beaming smile.
Yi Youxuan looked at Ning Shu with eyes full of scrutiny and disgust. She was certain this woman had something to do with the situation.
Ning Shu kept smiling. On the surface, Yi Youxuan appeared calm and indifferent, but internally, she was likely seething with murderous intent and a desire to tear Ning Shu apart.
“Did you come here for a reason, Junior Sister?” Qi Cheng asked with a dark expression. He clearly felt her appearance was a bit too convenient and suspected she was involved.
“Junior Sister, my disciple may be a bit willful at times, but you cannot cross the line on matters of principle like this,” Qi Cheng said displeasedly.
Tossing out the first-place winner and refusing to let her go—was that any way to act?
Oh, so you actually know your disciple is willful?
Ning Shu looked confused. “What did I do? Please, speak plainly. I am a bit slow and cannot guess what you are implying.”
It’s fine for your disciple to go to someone else’s peak to provoke them and beat them up—which is like walking into someone’s home and slapping them across the face—but now you want to lecture me about principles? What principles?
“Elder Jiang, come in,” the sect leader’s voice rang out loudly.
Ning Shu cupped her hands toward Qi Cheng. “The sect leader is calling for me.”
Yi Youxuan swallowed her anger. The most important thing right now was entering the hidden realm. She would settle the score with this woman once she returned.
Ning Shu walked into the main hall and saw the sect leader sitting in his chair.
“Yi Youxuan is still going into the realm, then?” she asked.
She had known the sect leader would compromise. After all, Qi Cheng was a Spirit Transformation expert and held great prestige on Zisha Island.
If Yi Youxuan truly hadn’t been allowed in, she likely would have attacked Ning Shu right at the door given her personality.
She was powerful and incredibly vengeful. She would repay any perceived slight tenfold.
“Let her go. Yi Youxuan is just a Foundation Establishment cultivator. How much trouble can she really cause?” the sect leader said.
Ning Shu sighed. “It seems your information is a bit outdated. Do you not know that I was soundly thrashed by Qi Cheng’s disciple?”
The sect leader: …
Have you no sense of shame? How can you say that so easily?
“The one I am worried about is Qi Cheng,” the sect leader said before vanishing in a flash.
Ning Shu shrugged. If trouble was coming, it was coming!
She spent time circling Zisha Island, beginning to lay down formations that she could activate when the battle eventually broke out.
No matter what, she could not let Yi Youxuan escape the island.
She intended to use Yi Youxuan’s upcoming ‘tribulation’ to finish her off once and for all.
She’d only told the sect leader ahead of time to give him a heads-up.
The incident with Jianzhan Peak would only serve to expose Yi Youxuan further.
When the day to enter the hidden realm finally arrived, the top fifty disciples went inside. There were many treasures within, and it all came down to luck to see how much one could obtain.
Ye Heyu watched the entrance with an envious expression. Ning Shu told him, “You will definitely be able to go in next time.”
Ye Heyu nodded and turned to her. “Master, there is something I have been wanting to ask.”
Ning Shu flicked her sleeve carelessly as she turned to leave. “Ask away.”
Ye Heyu followed beside her, glancing at her. “It seems that you and Senior Sister Yi are not on very good terms.”
Ye Heyu was a thorough person. Even though Yi Youxuan was now in the hidden realm, he still referred to her as ‘Senior Sister Yi’ rather than using her name.
After the competition, many disciples—especially those who had been kicked off the stage by her—were likely gritting their teeth in resentment.
Ning Shu was pleased with Ye Heyu’s conduct. In any situation, it was better to be the one in the right. It helped maintain a good reputation.
“You haven’t heard the other disciples talking about that old history between Yi Youxuan and me?” Ning Shu asked with a raised eyebrow.
Ye Heyu rubbed the tip of his nose. “I have heard too many versions, so I wanted to confirm it with you, Master.”
Ning Shu nodded. “I see. Roughly, it goes like this: I wanted to be her stepmother, and she looked down on me. I then told her master that he should teach his disciple a bit more about social graces. That apparently set her off. She is like a firecracker—one touch and she explodes. She came to Lanzhu Peak and gave me a sound beating.”
Ye Heyu: …
“Master, do you actually like men like Elder Qi Cheng?” He gave a small click of his tongue.
“In the past, he had that ‘top expert’ glow that blinded me. Now? Not so much,” Ning Shu said casually. “As for my relationship with Yi Youxuan, it is basically impossible for us to get along. Or rather, absolutely impossible.”
Ye Heyu gave an ‘oh’ of understanding. Ning Shu looked at him. “Do not gossip about your master. Cultivate well and make sure you get into the realm next time.”
That is, if the hidden realm is still there.
During this period, Ning Shu intensified her cultivation. In her spare time, she reinforced her formations, waiting for the chance to strike Yi Youxuan when she emerged.
This would likely be Yi Youxuan’s greatest setback, and Ning Shu was prepared to kick her while she was down.
Finish her off while she’s weak.
Endure, endure!
Almost the entire Zisha Island would likely turn against Yi Youxuan.
As an elder of the island, Ning Shu would naturally do her part.
Lately, Ning Shu had been gulping down spiritual energy until a lake of it had formed within her internal core.
Her internal core was divided in two: the lower half was the spirit lake, while the upper half was a vast expanse of stars. The twinkling stars were there because she had also been absorbing celestial energy.
There was plenty of celestial energy in this world, given that many spirit beasts relied on the essence of the sun and moon.
Ye Heyu and Ye Meiyu would occasionally come by to ask for guidance.
Ye Heyu looked at Ning Shu and asked, “Master, I feel like you have been very serious and tense lately. Has something happened?”
