Chapter 3549: Medusa (15)
Smallness had its benefits—namely, agility. Ning Shu easily dodged Poseidon’s grasping hands.
However, his hands were so massive that she had to run for her life just to stay out of his reach.
Poseidon’s hands snatched at her from both sides. Even if he couldn’t grab her, he intended to flatten her like he was swatting a mosquito.
Meanwhile, the heart in Ning Shu’s hand struggled constantly, trying to break free and fly back to Poseidon.
Ning Shu poured out every bit of spiritual energy, celestial energy, and fiery yang energy from her internal core. The dragon-shaped energy grew immense, engaging Poseidon in a fierce struggle and clawing at the wound in his chest.
Ning Shu flew far away, silently watching the two giants battle.
The earth shook and stones flew. Ning Shu clutched the thin veils around her body tightly; if they blew away, she really would be streaking.
Likely due to the loss of his heart, Poseidon was huffing and puffing with exhaustion. Ning Shu toyed with his heart, giving it a squeeze whenever she felt like it. It felt quite elastic.
Every time she squeezed it, the heart beat faster—thump-thump, thump-thump.
Poseidon: …
This audacious mortal!
Poseidon eventually grew weary. As the energy dragon coiled around him, he had to exert a great deal of effort just to shatter it.
He returned to his normal size, with the front of his robes soaked in golden blood.
Poseidon flew to Ning Shu and stared at his own heart. Seeing it held by a mere mortal made his face look incredibly hideous. He had lost his heart to a human because he hadn’t been paying attention.
While a god wouldn’t die without their heart—and the heart itself would continue to beat—it was still the source of their power. Without it, he would lose more than half of his strength.
“Give me back my heart. What is this trade you want?” Poseidon said humblingly. He had never been blackmailed like this before. He was the sea god, the brother of Hades and Zeus, one of the Big Three of Olympus, and so on…
“Like I said, let’s make a deal.” Ning Shu bounced his heart up and down in her hand. Poseidon’s eyes followed the organ’s every movement.
He was terrified that his heart might just go splat on the ground.
He could clearly feel the connection to his heart, yet it refused to return to his body.
This damned woman…
“What deal?” Poseidon’s face was dark, his jaw set tight.
“Teach me curse magic,” Ning Shu said. Curse magic was likely something only gods knew. If she had known beforehand that there were curses in this world, she would have exchanged points for them in the system mall. She had to learn the craft, and more importantly, she had to know how to break them.
The original Medusa had been a defenseless, weak beauty. After being raped by Poseidon, she was cursed by Athena. She had no access to divine knowledge and knew nothing of curses or punishments. Even if she had known, she lacked the power to break them.
“I don’t know it. I don’t know any curse magic,” Poseidon said directly. He had no intention of teaching her.
When gods used this magic, they gave it the refined name of ‘divine punishment.’
“That is knowledge reserved for the gods. A human like you has no right to know such things,” Poseidon said with extreme arrogance.
Ning Shu said nothing and gave his heart a hard squeeze.
The heart immediately began to beat at a frantic pace. Poseidon clutched his own chest, feeling a sharp pain as if he were being strangled and couldn’t breathe.
Ning Shu squeezed his heart like a sponge, wringing the blood out of it. Golden blood sprayed everywhere.
Poseidon: Arrgh…
He wanted to kill this bitch.
Seeing that Poseidon refused to agree, Ning Shu used both hands to wring the heart like she was twisting a wet towel. Golden blood poured out like it was coming from a faucet.
A god’s blood was incredibly precious. A single drop could create a human hero or give birth to a powerful demonic beast.
Poseidon watched in agony as his golden blood seeped into the dirt. After losing this much blood, no amount of food could replenish it.
Ning Shu felt like she was going to drop from exhaustion. A god’s heart was truly powerful; even outside the body, it kept beating and producing blood.
“Fine! I’ll teach you!” Poseidon had to admit that he currently had no way to deal with this woman. Rather than wasting more of his blood, it was better to give her a bit of knowledge regarding divine punishment.
Ning Shu immediately beamed. “It’s wonderful that you see it that way. But you better not give me the wrong instructions, otherwise I’ll…”
She bounced his heart again. Then, as if she were about to bite into an apple, she shoved the heart toward her mouth and took a massive chomp.
Ning Shu: …
Dammit, my teeth nearly shattered…
Was this a heart or a rock?
“I’ll eat your heart raw. I wonder if I’ll become a god myself after eating a god’s heart?” Ning Shu’s mouth was covered in golden blood.
She stuck out her tongue and licked her lips. “Hey, this blood is actually a bit sweet. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have wasted so much.”
However, the blood she swallowed began to burn fiercely in her body, as if it were about to sear a hole through her stomach. Ning Shu remained expressionless and directly absorbed the heat.
Even though Ning Shu was currently beautiful with eyes as blue as a starry sea, in Poseidon’s eyes, she looked ferocious. He had never seen a woman like this—not even among the goddesses.
Every goddess was elegant and moving. Who would hold a heart and start gnawing on it? Even modern humans had stopped eating raw flesh and drinking blood.
“I can teach you divine punishment, but I also have a requirement. You must tell me how you controlled the ocean.” Poseidon decided to reclaim his heart first, then devour the woman afterward.
Ning Shu let out a triumphant laugh.
Poseidon: Laugh your head off…
“Actually, I can’t control the ocean at all. What happened earlier was just an illusion. Do you understand what sleight of hand is?” Ning Shu said. “If I really could control the ocean, would I be a priestess in Athena’s temple, prostrating myself every day?
“I would have challenged you for control of the sea long ago,” Ning Shu said candidly. “Don’t worry, you’re still the sea god.”
Poseidon let out a nearly imperceptible sigh of relief, but then he realized something was wrong. “Even if those were illusions, why was it that I couldn’t control the ocean? You said you stripped me of my control.”
“I lied to you. I can’t believe you actually fell for it. Are you stupid?” Ning Shu said directly. “Go ahead and try it now.”
Poseidon: Try, your sister!
He felt more and more like he was being played by this woman.
Ning Shu stepped aside. “You can try. I used a certain method to temporarily return the ocean to a state of calm, but I’ve run out of talismans now. I can’t control the sea anymore.”
