Chapter 310: Even More Shameless
They all knew that Wei Zhiqian was Tan Mo’s uncle. If their relationship wasn’t that of a family, the event that had just happened would be the dream of any maiden.
Lin Fuxi lay on her bed depressed, completely jealous of Tan Mo at that point.
The roommate couldn’t help but wonder why Tan Mo was so fortunate. Not only was she born into a rich family, but she was also being treated nicely by Wei Zhiqian, one of the wealthiest people in the nation. She was also a genius at doing anything as she made everything seem easy to her.
Tan Mo was also loved by President Mu, Professor Guo, and Professor Zhao and they treated her like their own granddaughter.
She was one-of-a-kind at Beijing University.
Even being treated nicely by one of the two professors was already a blessing that every student wanted.
To add to her impressive resume, Tan Mo was now also a renowned scriptwriter.
It was as if there was nothing she couldn’t do, yet Lin Fuxi never saw her trying hard either.
It was natural for the roommate to be jealous of Tan Mo.
“Uncle has always been super nice to me.” Whenever Tan Mo talked of Wei Zhiqian, a happy smile would appear on her face.
She then climbed back up to her bed and logged into her WeChat to find her family had sent her birthday wishes as well.
She’d received them as soon as the clock struck midnight, just a few seconds after the fireworks went off.
They were only a step slower than Wei Zhiqian.
Tan Mo quickly thanked her parents and brothers and told them about the fireworks show that Wei Zhiqian had given to her as a present.
The father and brothers hadn’t know about the present previously, but now that they’d learned about it, all they felt was regret.
“Why didn’t any of us think of that?” Tan Wenci barked at his sons.
All four of them were sitting by the dining table enjoying their supper.
Since they wanted to wish Tan Mo a happy birthday as soon as midnight arrived, they’d stayed up late.
The brothers were still young and were used to that as they usually slept around 1:00 in the morning, but Tan Wenci was different. He was already past his 50s and was used to sleeping early.
In order to prevent himself from falling asleep, the father asked Auntie Guo to prepare a supper and dragged his sons to join him.
They ate as they waited for Tan Mo’s 18th birthday to arrive.
As soon as the clock struck midnight, they immediately sent their wishes to Tan Mo.
That was why the four of them were in the dining room now.
Since Xu Mingzhen could not hold out against her sleepiness, she’d gone to bed first and didn’t read Tan Mo’s reply.
“That sly b*stard!” Tan Jinsheng scolded and turned to Tan Jinyi. “Hey! Aren’t you an artist? Where’s your sense of art at such an important time?”
“What? Do you expect that my sense of art can just pop off any time I want?” Tan Jinyi argued back. “Wei Zhiqian must be used to flattering girls. Or else, how did he even think of such an idea?”
Even a full-grown woman would be touched by what Wei Zhiqian had done, and Tan Mo was just an 18-year-old teenager.
Luckily, Wei Zhiqian was Tan Mo’s uncle, or else the brothers would have to go into a protective mode right away and treat the man like he was a thief.
“Him? Flattering a woman?” Tan Wenci rolled his eyes. “It’s not that I’m looking down on him, but that dude never had a girlfriend in his life. Even his parents are starting to get worried.”
Wei Zhiqian was already 27 years old.
Before that, he had still been young, and his parents weren’t worried yet.
But as the years went by and he never got himself a girlfriend, they started to worry that they might not get a daughter-in-law if things continued as they were.
“If he really had the charm, do you think he would have stayed single until now?” Tan Wenci continued to deny the fact that he and his three sons had been defeated by Wei Zhiqian, who had stayed single for his entire life. “He must’ve gotten the idea from someone else. Like Mrs. Wei or his grandmother. They are women, and they know what a young lady would like.”
“If that is the case, then why didn’t they find a way to help Wei Zhiqian find a girlfriend so he can get out of his forever single situation?” Tan Jinyi asked.
No one could answer that question, but all four of them came to a quiet agreement that they would stop talking about this topic.
They didn’t want Xu Mingzhen to know about their thoughts.
If Wei Zhiqian really got the fireworks idea either from Xiao Menghan or his grandmother, then it could only mean that Xu Mingzhen had failed for not thinking of the same idea.
“Later!” Tan Jinqi, who had been quiet for the past few minutes, suddenly said.
After learning of what Wei Zhiqian had done, he had been reflecting on himself.
As the oldest brother, he had been beaten by an uncle who wasn’t even related by blood..
Thus, a self-reflection was much needed.
It wasn’t until after he’d finished criticizing himself that he finally said, “When we celebrate Mo Mo’s 18th birthday later, we have to give her a huge surprise!”
“That’s right! It looks like our original plan won’t be enough. We have to add something else.” Tan Wenci nodded.
Even Auntie Guo could not stand her drowsiness and had already gone to bed.
The three brothers got their laptops out and began to discuss the plan with their father.
They were even more focused on the discussion than they were during meetings. Everyone squeezed every part of their brain to think of a way to surprise Tan Mo and kept modifying it until they were satisfied.
…
Tan Mo had no idea that after sharing her happiness with her family that it would motivate her father and brothers to stay up throughout the night to think of a bigger surprise.
Just like them, Tan Mo could not fall asleep now.
Whenever she would close her eyes, she would see the fireworks once again.
They were so bright and beautiful.
Just as she was enjoying the replay in her head, her phone vibrated.
Since she didn’t want to wake her roommates up, she had muted her phone’s notification and set it in vibration mode.
Tan Mo quickly reached for her phone by her pillow, thinking it was from Wei Zhiqian.
To her disappointment, it was a message from Wei Keli.
Tan Mo had set Wei Zhiqian’s name on her phone as Uncle, but had used Wei Keli’s full name for his.
Tan Mo opened the chat and saw the message from Wei Keli.
“Mo Mo, Happy 18th birthday!”
“Thank you,” Tan Mo replied without any feeling.
However, she didn’t want to appear as if she was too cold and decided to add an emoji behind the message.
She was even too lazy to add Brother Keli to address him.
“Did you see the fireworks just now?” Wei Keli asked.
Tan Mo raised her eyebrows. She could feel that Wei Keli was planning something.
“I did. They were pretty. I wonder what event it was? To set fireworks off in the middle of the night suddenly.” Tan Mo pretended to not know about the details.
A few seconds after sending the message, Wei Keli replied, “I’m glad that you liked it.”
Tan Mo instantly understood what Wei Keli meant when she saw the message.
She scoffed at him as he was trying to make it seem as if he had been the one who’d planned the fireworks show instead of Wei Zhiqian.
After all these years, he didn’t learn anything but became more and more shameless instead. That’s why he’s getting closer to Qin Murong and Yuan Keqing… Tan Mo sighed.
Tan Mo could only laugh silently and turn her phone off.
She decided to just let Wei Keli wait since he wanted to steal Wei Zhiqian’s spotlight.
Back in Wei Keli’s room, he was literally scratching the walls as he didn’t get another reply from Tan Mo.
