Chapter 563: At Least, Draw Something Humans Can Understand

Since she had nothing better to do, Tan Mo thought for a brief moment. She decided that she may as well sketch some storyboards for Tan Jinqi.

She talked on the phone with Tan Jinqi every day to discuss their new drama.

She was familiar with how Tan Jinqi wanted the scenes to be filmed.

Tan Jinqi had shown her his version of the storyboard.

It seemed that the three Tan brothers’ artistic talents had all been passed down to Tan Jinyi.

If not for his detailed explanation, no one else would have been able to read Tan Jinqi’s drawings or understand what his storyboard implied.

Tan Mo thought that he was better off drawing stick figures. It would’ve been a lot easier to understand than the scribbly mess her brother created.

According to Director Hou, the two directors in charge of separate teams were bawling their eyes out trying to understand the storyboard Tan Jinqi had drawn.

Neither one of them dared to speak ill of his drawings at the time.

After having seen the drawings himself, Director Hou was silent for a long time before he said to Tan Jinqi, “Jinqi, have you ever considered art classes? I recall your little brother is an artist, right? Maybe you could learn a thing or two from him?”

Tan Jinqi had a questioning look on his face. Was his drawing that awful?

Seeing such a genuine look of query in Tan Jinqi’s eyes, Director Hou was silent for a few seconds again. He then said, “You don’t need to draw impeccably well, but at least, draw something humans can understand.”

Tan Jinqi was lost for words.

The two directors looked at Director Hou with gratitude in their eyes.

Someone finally said what they were thinking.

Tan Jinqi then went to ask the two directors, “Did you not understand a single thing from what I had drawn?”

The two directors were silent for a while. “Honestly, no.”

Thus, Tan Jinqi went to look for Tan Jinyi to try and learn how to draw from him.

Unfortunately, Tan Jinqi was a complete idiot when it came to drawing. He had no talent whatsoever.

No matter how Tan Jinyi tried to teach him, Tan Jinqi just couldn’t master the craft.

Tan Jinyi was too afraid to lose his temper at his eldest brother. Even if his eldest brother could not draw to save his life, he had to be patient for fear that he would make his eldest brother angry.

In the end, Tan Jinyi had no choice but to avoid going home.

The excuse he gave was that he was busy studying with He Haoyan, when in fact, he was just trying to avoid Tan Jinqi.

Tan Jinqi did not know what else to do, so he ended up discussing how he wanted the series to be filmed with Tan Mo every day. She would then draw the storyboards for him.

With Tan Mo’s storyboards, the two directors felt a lot more at ease.

All they had to do was shoot according to her drawings.

Since Tan Mo had nothing else better to do at this moment, she began to sketch.

Normally, she drew with an iPad. Since she was in the middle of an exam, she only had scratch paper to draw on.

Though the paper she used was a draft sheet for her exams, it was actually a fresh clean piece of A4 paper.

It wasn’t perfect, but it would have to do for now.

She would simply take a picture of her sketch later and send it to Tan Jinyi.

Fully emerged in her drawing, Tan Mo looked incredibly occupied.

If anyone didn’t know better, they would think she was diligently answering her exam questions.

From time to time, the examiner would step off the stage and take a few laps around the hall.

When she first walked by Tan Mo, she did not pay much attention and thought Tan Mo was hard at work jotting down equations.

However, when she took a closer look…

What in the world? This girl was actually doodling away.

‘Coming all the way to the examination venue of the most prestigious mathematics competition in the country just to doodle? How dare you!’

The examiner did not recognize Tan Mo, but she thought about how there was still more than a half-hour left.

There was no way she could’ve finished answering all the questions.

Was it because the questions were too challenging that the student found it too hard to answer?

The examination hall was silent. The examiner held her tongue because she did not want to distract the other students from their tests.

Thus, she could only shake her head silently. She took another glance at Tan Mo’s test paper just to see who this student was.

Just then, she saw the name, Tan Mo.

The examiner had heard that Tan Mo was exceptional in history and Chinese literature.

So, what was she doing here at a mathematics competition?

Why did she come if she couldn’t answer the questions?

Wouldn’t she just end up tainting the good name that she garnered for herself?

And to think that Beijing University actually allowed this to happen…

The examiner couldn’t stop shaking her head.

Thus, she stopped watching her and moved on.

When the time was up…

The examiner came around to collect the test papers.

She deliberately chose the row Tan Mo was seated in. When she received Tan Mo’s paper, she quickly skimmed through it.

To her surprise, Tan Mo had answered every single one of the questions.

The answer sheet was completely filled up, and they were all neatly written too.

Of course, the examiner did not have time to look at it in detail to know if the answers were correct.

As she continued to collect the rest of the papers, her mind was still hung up on Tan Mo.

Did Tan Mo actually know all of the answers?

After all the papers were collected, the students left the classroom.

Some of them had to sit for the second round of exams, so they needed to get to their next examination hall.

The geometry and topology test that Chi Xuanzi was taking did not start until 6:30 in the evening, so there was no need to hurry.

After Beijing University had sent its students over in a bus, the rest of the transport between the two schools would be provided by Hua University’s shuttle buses—chauffeuring the students with long breaks between papers back to their campus to rest.

The shuttle bus would then pick them up and send them over again when it was time for their next test.

“Tan Mo, what do you say? Do you want to go back to school now?” Chi Xuanzi was walking with Tan Mo. “Although you’re taking the next exam, it’s only noon now. The next one is at 2:30. There are still two and a half hours left until then.”

Tan Mo was thinking about that too. If she stayed, she wouldn’t be able to rest well.

But to go all the way back to Beijing University—the journey back and forth plus the peak-hour traffic at noon—was a lot of haste.

Before Tan Mo could make up her mind, she heard someone call her name. “Tan Mo.”

It was a familiar voice that she had heard right before the exam earlier.

Tan Mo turned around. Just as she suspected, it was Ji Jiayi.

Coincidentally, people from the examination hall next door were also walking out then.

However, Tan Mo paid no mind to them.

Chi Xuanzi, on the other hand, had noticed the crowd pouring out.

She was the first one to see Du Zeyang walking over.

Then, she also saw Peng Jiayou and Pang Xinlu walking in front of Du Zeyang.

These two happened to be the students from the Department of Mathematics of Hua University with whom they had a showdown when they went to Jiaoyuan for the student enrollment.

Chi Xuanzi was not the least bit surprised that they both signed up for the math competition.

But she couldn’t help but feel like they had just run into their nemesis.

Peng Jiayou and Pang Xinlu stopped when they saw Tan Mo.

“Chi Xuanzi, Tan Mo.” Seeing them, Du Zeyang strode past Peng Jiayou and Pang Xinlu and walked over.

Ji Jiayi barely glanced at him. He saw Peng Jiayou and Pang Xinlu and nodded at them.

All of them were top students, but Peng Jiayou and Pang Xinlu were ranked slightly further beneath him.

Thus, he felt a sense of superiority over the two.

Because of his superior ego, Ji Jiayi had not looked straight at Peng Jiayou and Pang Xinlu. He was oblivious to the discomfort in their faces after having seen Tan Mo.

Ji Jiayi asked, “How did your test go, Tan Mo?”

Peng Jiayou and Pang Xinlu had overheard him. Their ears immediately perked up, focusing their attention on Tan Mo.

“It was okay.” Tan Mo wanted to keep a low profile.

Every time she answered that she had done well in her exams, people always found it hard to believe.

It seemed as if they did not like hearing her say that she had done well at all.

Therefore, Tan Mo decided to give a mediocre answer instead…

Just to make others happy.

Ji Jiayi sneered mockingly, “So, why on earth did you come to embarrass yourself for? How many questions did you answer?”

Peng Jiayou opened his mouth, wanting to say something.

Pang Xinlu seemed a little lost for words as she stared at Ji Jiayi.

Tan Mo raised an eyebrow.
