Book 7: Chapter 117: Magic cage

“Can’t get out?” Arch Magus Ofalian was stunned, “What does this mean?”

The Great Magician who was the furthest away from Arch Magus Ofalian stretched his hand out in the air and there were thin traces of electricity that suddenly appeared. It quickly spread and covered an area of several dozen square meters in the air.

Arch Magus Ofalian’s expression changed, “Magic Domain Sealing Array? Wasn’t this supposed to be in Mero City? How did it suddenly get behind us?”

“Hong, hong, hong, hong, hong, hong!”

There was another series of powerful explosions, but Arch Magus Laduca had made a move to stop these attacks from the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s Magic Airships.

“Hu……Ofalian, I investigated it earlier and this Magic Domain Sealing Array changed its range when we were focused on those Magic Airships just now. It’s currently surrounding us. It seems like those fellows from the Frestech Chamber of Commerce already planned this and baited us into this trap.” Arch Magus Laduca said while panting a bit.

“How is this possible? The Magic Domain Sealing Array needs a long time to lay down. It’s already good enough that those fellows from the Frestech Chamber of Commerce could defend Mero City, how could they change it at will during battle? How could they even precisely trap us inside of it?” Arch Magus Ofalian shouted with a look of disbelief.

“This is fact.” Arch Magus Laduca flew up with a sunken expression and reached a finger out. There was a wisp of magic that appeared at the end of his finger and he poked up with it.

This seemingly normal space, when it made contact with Arch Magus Laduca’s finger, it was like a stone had been thrown into calm water. The countless coloured streaks of electricity appeared in the air and wildly spread before covering the entire sky.

Looking up, they would see that the electricity formed a half circle that curved downwards. It was around fifty meters high and covered a diameter of a hundred meters, wrapping up the fifteen magicians, including the two Arch Magi.

Arch Magus Ofalian looked around as his expression changed.

“Laduca, are you certain that this barrier is the same as the Magic Domain Sealing Array in Wimbledon City?”

“No.” Arch Magus Laduca floated back down and shook his head, “It’s clearly not the same. Once the Magic Domain Sealing Array in Wimbledon City is released, it will cut off all magic, whether it’s inside or outside of the array, so it stops all spells. What is around us now…..it shouldn’t be called a Magic Domain Sealing Array, it should just be a magic cage that was prepared for us. We can’t leave, but the attacks from outside can still come in. Look……”

Arch Magus Ofalian knitted his brows as he released all his magic power to create a magic shield, blocking off another round of attacks from the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s Magic Airships.

But this time, his expression wasn’t as relaxed as before.

Just three rounds of attacks and he found that half of his magic had already been drained.

The Magic Airships didn’t seem like they would stop, so he wasn’t confident that he could keep blocking them.

“Is there a way to get out?” Arch Magus Ofalian asked.

Arch Magus Laduca thought for a bit before giving a nod, “I’ll give it a try with them, you block the attacks and buy us some time. Of course, if you can’t hold on, switch out with me.”

Arch Magus Ofalian let out a breath, “It’s fine for now, but if those fellows keep maintaining this kind of attack, I might not be able to hold on for long.”

“I know.” Arch Magus Laduca patted Arch Magus Ofalian’s shoulder. He turned to wave at the thirteen Great Magicians and they gathered them near this strange magic cage as they started studying it.

Arch Magus Ofalian saw the flames being gathered by the Magic Airships in the distance again and took a deep breath. He focused his mind and released all his magic power.

“Hong, hong, hong, hong, hong!”

The explosions rang out, but when they fell onto the ears of others, it invoked a different reaction.

The southwest province’s reinforcement army were apprehensive when they watched. Although the magicians left behind were also worried, they weren’t that worried because they knew that with the two Arch Magi, it was impossible for any problems to happen.

As for the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s group back in Mero City, they didn’t feel any worry, but they were a bit nervous.

This wasn’t the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s first time meeting an enemy at the Arch Magus rank. Eight years ago, the Frestech Chamber of Commerce had been attacked by two Arch Magi, but they had killed one of them which had greatly increased the reputation of the Frestech Chamber of Commerce.

But that situation was different from how it was now.

That time, Arch Magus Levin Hasko had walked the path of his own death, running to the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s headquarters to trap himself.

But this time, the Frestech Chamber of Commerce took the initiative to attack, arranging a trap for an Arch Magus in the Candra Empire. The difficulty of the two matters weren’t even on the same scale.

Although these fellows had been trained countless times, each Arch Magus was different, they were all experts that couldn’t be measured.

To kill an Arch Magus was an impossible matter for most people.

Although everything was going smoothly, there were two Arch Magi on the other side, so it was hard to tell if anything would change.

So even if the other side was passively taking their attacks, chief Hart didn’t let down his guard at all and kept in touch with the Magic Airship squad the entire time.

“There’s still half of the ammunition left. Based on this attack frequency and intensity, it’s estimated that it will be consumed in seventeen minutes.”

Hearing the report from the Magic Airship, chief Hart thought about it before saying into another Magic Communicator.

“Magic Tank squad, listen to your orders. Immediately attack the Candra Empire’s reinforcement army and drive them five kilometers away from Mero City. We can’t let them enter this range. If this mission fails, retreat to the southwest as quickly as possible, don’t delay at all.”

“Chief, do you mean that we shouldn’t care about you?”

“Stop wasting words, listen to my orders.”

“Yes.”

Chief Hart cut this Magic Communicator off and turned to say to Noons, “Have the logistics team load up some ammunition and go out the south gate to prepare to support the Magic Airship squad.”

Noons picked up the first Magic Communicator and contacted the Magic Airship squad.

“Magic Airship squad, prepare for a resupply of ammo outside of the south gates. However, during this time, you must maintain firing on the Great Magician and Arch Magi team, you can’t let them relax at all. Understood?”

“Received!”

“Willrod, lead the elf team into the city and maintain the city’s stability. If you see any changes, don’t be polite, understand?”

“Understood.”

“Good, go.”

The elf team leader Willrod immediately led another two elf guards down the city walls.

After a while, the elf guards disappeared like shadows into Mero City.

After giving these orders, chief Hart let out a sigh of relief. He turned to look at the Great Magicians and two Arch Magi being wildly bombed by the Magic Airship squad.

This mission, or rather this fight, would decide the fate of the Frestech Chamber of Commerce and the Candra Empire. It might even decide how the entire Sines Continent developed in the future.

If they succeeded, the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s future development would be bright.

If they failed, the consequences would be hard to imagine.

Thinking of this, chief Hart who had been through hundreds of battles couldn’t help feeling nervous.

Of course, compared to chief Hart, the most nervous were the two Arch Magi and the thirteen Great Magicians.

If they failed, it would be related to their lives, so this was more important than anything.

However, Arch Magus Laduca and the thirteen Great Magicians had studied it for a while and still couldn’t understand the principles behind the strange magic barrier around them, not to mention being able to break free of this cage.

Although they didn’t know why, the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s Magic Airships’ attacks were a bit slower than before, but based on Arch Magus Ofalian’s magic domain, Arch Magus Laduca knew that he wouldn’t be able to hold on for much longer.

“Alright, let me do it.” Arch Magus Laduca gave a sigh before flying in front of Arch Magus Ofalian, “The characteristics of this thing is closer to your magic domain, so you should have an easier time studying it.”

Arch Magus Ofalian looked at Arch Magus Laduca and knew that he was just making an excuse, but he also knew that his magic power was running out. If they didn’t switch, he might not even be able to hold on for three more attacks. He gave a nod and switched places with Arch Magus Laduca.

Flying over to the Great Magicians, he asked them a few things and understood what they had just studied, causing Arch Magus Ofalian to knit his brows.

Time was too short, the environment wasn’t good, and they didn’t have any magic materials here. They didn’t have the conditions to slowly research this strange magic barrier, so naturally they couldn’t break it.

Thinking of this, Arch Magus Ofalian waved his hand to have the thirteen Great Magicians move back. He focused his mind and raised both his hands, wildly releasing all the remaining magic power in his body. He reached his hands out again and created a black crack in space that he sent into the strange magic barrier.

Since it was impossible to break it by studying it, then he would use brute force to break it!
