Chapter 89: A Powerful Enemy wounding Two Martial Arts Legend with a single Attack

All of those spies sent to the country were highly trained. They all chose to kill themselves when it became obvious that they were unable to win in order to prevent the enemy from exploiting them.

At the same time, Yun Sheng got his hands on the case containing the Heirloom Seal of the Realm.

He was finally able to rest easy. When his superiors called him and asked him to intercept those robbers, he had been very frightened.

That was because when James and Sakata Juuzaburo were leading their men in circles. Any men that he sent were quickly dealt with by the enemy when they were about to corner those robbers.

While the enemy suffered huge losses in doing so, they had nonetheless prevented the Chinese forces from catching up with them.

According to speculations from Yun Sheng’s superiors, the enemy would have probably chosen Zhejiang to be the place where they fled to the ocean. As such, elite forces had been put there a long time ago, consisting of men that were far more powerful than the ones he gathered at the moment. Even the provincial boss of Southern Min had been summoned to participate in the interception.

The Special Task Force had even enlisted help from the military.

However, all that proved to be little more than a diversion. Just when those robbers were about to be cornered, they took a turn down to Southern Min all of a sudden, opting to flee to the seas from there.

The plans of the Special Task Force were messed up by that one move, which caused Yun Sheng to urgently enlist a group of people just to cobble up a line of defense.

The enemy had reinforcements, and so did the Special Task Force. Said reinforcements were traveling from Zhejiang at frightening speeds.

What those in the woods needed to do was simply slow the enemy down, buying enough time to prevent escape.

Both sides had cards up their sleeves and wanted to buy time for their reinforcements to arrive. As such, it was actually a contest seeing which side would be better at strategizing.

Yun Sheng thought the forces he gathered would suffer heavy casualties, so much so that he needed to join them.

However, no one expected that one such tricky situation had been defused without breaking a sweat as Lu Xuan took charge.

Lu Xuan’s way of dealing with the problem had been simple and utterly brutal, which somewhat opened Yun Sheng’s eyes.

He wondered before if Martial Arts Legends would be a huge obstacle.

Yet, Lu Xuan killed such an obstacle with a single kick.

There was no trouble at all.

He felt fortunate that he had thought of rallying Lu Xuan to be part of the Fu City Special Task Force as soon as possible, naming him a consultant—an arrangement that benefited both parties.

At the very least, the young man had proven very useful at key moments.

Having one’s back so securely covered during times of crisis was very reassuring, after all.

Everyone in the crowd was excited. The Special Task Force took care of the battlefield as they always had. All the other fighters were talking about the victory feverishly, as they were dressing their wounds.

At the very least, the country owed them a favor, and that meant all manner of rewards in due time.

But then again, the core of their discussion was still none other than Lu Xuan.

Although all of them had intentionally kept their voices down when they did so, it hardly made any difference to Lu Xuan, as he felt as if they were talking in his ear all the same.

“So, this guy is the real deal then.”

“Killing a Martial Arts Legend with a single kick. My gosh, would anyone even believe that if I were to tell them?”

“You got that right. This isn’t some big-budget movie with loads of CGI. Hell, even movies would look less ridiculous!”

“I don’t know about the entire country, but this master here sure is the best in all of Southern Min.”

“I thought the number one in the province would have either been Master Buyi from the Southern Shaolin Temple or that guy from the Special Task Force. I totally didn’t expect to see someone else taking the title.”

Everyone kept talking, but Lu Xuan hardly reacted to any of that.

Even Yang Chengsi and Monk Buyi, both of whom served as the main damage dealers back in the battlefield, shot glances at Lu Xuan every now and then.

They knew better than anyone else present just how terrifying Lu Xuan’s combat prowess had been. The more they felt this, the more shocked they were.

“Mr. Lu, we shall leave at once,” Yun Sheng said as he picked up the case containing the Heirloom Seal of the Realm.

“He’s here,” Lu Xuan blurted out all of a sudden, which puzzled everyone within earshot.

“Put down the case, and I shall refrain from tearing your bodies apart!”

A low voice was heard, speaking in Mandarin Chinese with rather off tones.

Everyone was shocked. None of them sensed anyone coming. Yang Chengsi and Monk Buyi were even more so.

It was just like how it had been when Lu Xuan showed up. It was a man whom everyone only noticed when he spoke.

 It was really embarrassing.

The crowd traced the voice and found a middle-aged man of average size dressed in white kimono. His long, ragged hair billowed with the wind.

The man looked like he was in his forties, and he carried a katana with him.

He looked rather laidback, yet no one present dared to underestimate someone who escaped everyone’s notice until he spoke.

“Who are you?” Yang Chengsi went up and asked.

However, that middle-aged man seemed to have blitzed like a gale straight for Yun Sheng as he opened his mouth.

 Clang!

The katana in his hand was drawn, which produced a gleaming flash in an instant under the bright moonlight.

The flash of the blade headed straight for Yun Sheng’s arm, which was carrying the case, at a frightening speed.

The man actually intended to slash off the arm carrying the case.

The slash was quick, accurate, and brutal. It felt like a very precise tidal wave.

Yun Sheng was unable to react in time. To put it precisely, he was unable to react at all.

He felt as if he had been targeted by a ferocious beast at that very instant. It had been a long time since he felt anything like that. His senses were numbed in an instant, suppressed by the enemy’s intimidating aura.

It was worth noting that he was a war veteran and had seen a great many brutal battles, yet the enemy needed only to cast one look at him, rendering him completely immobile and reducing him to a sheep waiting to be slaughtered.

 It was utterly terrifying.

 I’m doomed!

Just when Yun Sheng thought he was done for, a pebble shot through the air at a lightning-fast speed, crashing hard onto the incoming blade.

 Clang!

A crisp, clashing sound was heard as the blade veered off of its original course, swinging down right next to Yun Sheng.

All those actions seemed to have taken a long time, yet it had only been an instant.

Both Yang Chengsi and Monk Buyi realized what happened at that moment, and they were both bursting with cold sweat. If Yun Sheng died right before their eyes, they were probably next.

Be it the Coalition of the Woods or the Southern Shaolin Temple, they were technically employed by the Special Task Force, after all.

Both men stood before Yun Sheng and attacked like bolts of lightning. Monk Buyi brought his staff down on the assailant, causing terrifying sonic booms.

Yang Chengsi drew the twin blades by his side as well. The flashes of the blades were unwavering as they headed straight for that middle-aged man of average built. The swordplay was just as brilliant.

“Know your place.” The man scoffed at them as internal force coursed throughout his arm. The numbing, sore feeling from the pebble immediately dissipated.

He swiped with his katana, which brought forth a terrifying flash.

 Clang!

 Clang!

Two booming sounds of metal clashes were heard. Both Yang Chengsi and Monk Buyi spat up blood as they were sent flying like kites with their threads snapped.

He dealt severe damage to two Martial Arts Legends with one single attack.

The place was rendered dead silent immediately.
