Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1706: Last Minute Preparations

Chapter 1706: Last Minute Preparations

Wang Wei held the token in his right hand and played with it. He would never treat Hongjun’s demeanor as a charismatic and helpless old man seriously. No matter what, this is a man who has plotted and schemed his way to the top, so he must analyze every move he makes. Does Hongjun know about the Infinite Divine Court’s attempt to kill him? If he does, why did he offer this token knowing their animosity? What does he mean? What is he planning?

’There is a chance that he doesn’t know and I’m overthinking, but I can’t be too careful,’ Wang Wei thought before sending the token and the technique to Maitreya to check.

"As far as I can tell, there is nothing wrong with the token," Maitreya replied through divine sense.

"I just want to be careful."

"Which is the right mindset to have when dealing with Saints," Maitreya nodded. "I’ll put a seal on it."

"Thanks. And can you find the Chaos Demon Gods with this technique?"

"Not all of them, but this should increase my chances."

"Alright, I won’t bother you with healing anymore," Wang Wei said before ending the conversation. He still had a few last-minute preparations before leaving, the first of which was engraving the new Heaven Deception Array in his Sea of Consciousness. The process was not arduous, requiring only a bit of time and some rare materials.

Once that was done, Wang Wei focused his attention on the sect’s Qi Luck Dragon. He cut off a small portion to refine a copy of the Saint Art Scroll before fusing the item into his Sea of Consciousness. Finally, Wang Wei summoned the space ring with all the coffins and started refining a potent memory crystal.

"Is she also making final preparations?" Wang Wei said as he sensed a Heaven-and-Earth phenomenon. The Saint’s Will manifested in the sky, and everybody felt it. Then, her voice spread to every corner of the world. "All Overlord Faction – lend me your sect’s Qi Luck."

Myriad dragons roared in all corners of the world before turning into beams of light, standing straight like the very pillars that hold Heaven and Earth. A terrifying formation — which most people recognized as the Grand Unified Will — materialized in the sky to intercept these beams. A towering golden palm manifested below the array to create a chain of runes.

"From now on until my return, no Saint can appear in the world or descend from Primordial Chaos," Maitreya’s domineering voice spread to every cultivator still alive. "I now appoint Heavenly Dao to use the Grand Unified Will to punish anyone who dares break this rule."

"How domineering," Wang Wei smiled. With this measure, the Chaos Demon Gods are screwed. By now, news of the Saint’s departure has already spread since Maitreya asked people to volunteer to create a legion as commanded by the Time Cardinal. The people most excited by this news were the Chaos Demon Gods. Unfortunately for them, Maitreya not only created an Order-Disorder to prevent any Saint-tier powers from appearing, but also granted Heavenly Dao the power to punish anyone who tries.

’While this is a great preventive measure, its effect is merely to prevent utter chaos,’ Wang Wei thought as he shook his head. Besides these Chaos Demon Gods — who cannot be underestimated — there is also the Infinite Divine Court and the revived Supreme Unity: all these people will not remain quiet, not to mention the possibility of foreign Saints, who did not participate in the expedition, using this opportunity to enter the Eternal Ascension World and reap the benefits.

’No matter what the Saint does, the Eternal Ascension World will forever be changed by the times we return,’ Wang Wei sighed. If Maitreya could leave a clone, all these issues would no longer be a problem. Unfortunately, a clone would cause even more problems if it gained sentience while Maitreya was isolated in the other timeline. She has already experienced it once with Wang Wei’s grandmother; Wang Wei doubted she would want to take the risk again.

There are still a few thousand years until the expedition, so Wang Wei waited patiently while checking on Grandma Ju’s situation. She was already inside the secret realm, using its resources to sprint to the Primal Stage. Once everybody has left and she has achieved her objective, the next step is to deal with the Primal Seer.

’I hope you don’t let me down,’ Wang Wei thought. To ensure the success of this plan, he even used his blood to refine a pill for Grandma Ju that will drastically increase her affinity with Fate. Additionally, his wife has long designed an array that would allow her to strip control of the All Seeing Temple’s most powerful weapon from them. With all these preparations, nothing should go wrong, but Wang Wei wanted to be extra careful.

’Should I leave Wang Ju as a backup?’ Wang Wei thought. However, after thinking about it for a while, he decided against it. Hongjun and Maitreya have already gone to the extra length of hiding Heaven’s secrets, but if Wang Ju is involved in any way, it’s easy to trace things back to him.

Time is like a flowing river, and for these eternal beings, a couple of thousands of years — which is the sum of human history on Earth — is nothing but a fleeting dream. So, when the departing arrived, Wang Wei teleported to the Heavenly Court. He was one of the last to come, but since the Saint had yet to reveal herself, everybody just calmly waited.

’Hmm?’ Wang Wei thought as he sensed something from Lin Fan. His reaction remained calm and revealed little. ’I should have thought about it. How can Lin Fan’s karma with the Chaos Demon God end so easily? One of them must be using him as a vessel. The question now is whether this is a situation similar to Feng Heng, or has he been possessed and replaced?’

Wang Wei favored the former. Based on the limited interactions and information gathered from Shenghuovi, he knew these Chaos Demon Gods disdained the human body and wished to recreate their former fleshly body.

’The imprisonment of the Chaos Demon God has always puzzled me,’ Wang Wei thought. ’If Grand Dao was so mad at Pangu’s actions, why did he punish everybody else? It could be argued that she’s vindictive and decided on a collective punishment. But in my eyes, she’s not that emotional. So, these Chaos Demon Gods did something that elicited the imprisonment.’

There are countless possibilities, but if Wang Wei were to build on his theory about [Perfection] corrupting Pangu, the answer is obvious: ’One, if not all of these guys, were tempted by the [Perfection] power and Grand Dao couldn’t tell who did it — maybe she couldn’t even tell whether they did. Regardless, she imprisoned them for eons to verify.’

Pieces of the puzzle started to fit together as Wang Wei deduced the truth with the limited information he had. ’The issue is whether they did it or not,’ Wang Wei analyzed. The last thing he wanted was for a power capable of corrupting a Grand Dao to have escaped into the world. With his terrible luck, he will most likely have to deal with it. No, this is not a matter of luck or having the trouble magnet physique. With [Perfection] power, his every existence means that all life in the Chaos Universe will eventually be drawn into his affairs.

Wang Wei secretly groaned. ’Let’s assume there is a culprit and it has escaped. What would be his next move? He’ll obviously need a way to hide from Grand Dao, but the issue is where they would hide? Could they be a part of the group that left the Eternal Ascension World, or did they choose to hide at the most dangerous place?’

He had reached the limit he could deduce with the limited information he had. However, Wang Wei now had a plan, and the first step was to know more about the Chaos Demon Gods. With a bit of logical reasoning, he can deduce that only an individual with a third-step strength could hide from Grand Dao in these circumstances.

The world has no absolute, so a capable Tribunal Saint with ample preparations can probably hide from Grand Dao. However, whoever the Chaos Demon God responsible for all this is, they would not have had ample time to prepare. The prison was most likely a place to try to purify them, and adding the fact that most of them were severely injured — if not dead — before being sent there, there are no resources or opportunity for a second step transcendent to prepare well enough to hide from Grand Dao.

’As long as I can find who among them has reached the third-step, I’ll have a list of suspects,’ Wang Wei analyzed. Such information is vital to him for a myriad of reasons. Whether to use it to prepare for the Prehistoric World’s calamity, or sell this information to Grand Dao for a prize, all are viable paths to gain him more benefit.
