Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1710: Vindictive

Chapter 1710: Vindictive

Wang Wei cupped his hands and bowed ninety degrees: "It’s an honor to meet you all." One of the first lessons the sect taught him when he was a young mortal was that powerhouses must be respected. Wang Wei knew that these people must be aware of his future self, but that did not matter. The future was not set in stone, and currently, he was only a little Paragon. As such, he showed them the respect all powerhouses deserve.

’What an interesting fellow,’ Karma Root Monarch thought. A sign of wisdom is knowing when to bend, stretch, and when to be willful. She didn’t believe for a second that Wang Wei was not aware of his future potential — thinking as such would be an insult to someone capable of reaching the third step. Yet, he held no pride or arrogance about this fact and acted with the proper required modesty. The Tribunal Saints nodded to Wang Wei. Since the latter shows them respect, they would return it.

’Well?’ Source Qi Cardinal asked.

’Nothing at all,’ Time Cardinal sighed. How could these cunning people easily reveal the cards in their hands?

’Did you at least confirm whether either of them has ever entered the Dark Truth?’ the Heaven Cardinal asked.

’The Primordial Heaven Sword Saint was tempted, but I didn’t see if he ever entered,’ Time Cardinal answered. Spying on the past or future of these beings is already challenging enough, but doing it in their presence while trying to remain a secret is a nightmare.

’That’s enough to report back and investigate,’ the Heaven Cardinal nodded.

’True.’

"Commander Wang, since you’ve made acquaintances with everybody, you can spend some time getting to know your other troops," the Time Cardinal suggested.

"Hold on," Wang Wei said. "Is our objective only to eliminate the production of the Reverse Black Stones?"

"What else could we do?" Source Qi Cardinal asked.

"This is a perfect opportunity to cause trouble," Wang Wei explained. He glanced at the Karma Root Monarch and told everybody about the plan he had concocted the moment he saw that symbol. "What do you think?"

The room was quiet. All the Tribunal Saints present are the most talented individuals in the Chaos Universe. They have come so far in their cultivation despite living in an era when the Grand Dao has dramatically oppressed them. However, it could be argued that cultivating talent is not the same as having a strategic mind. But, is this the reason they didn’t think of a grand plan to deal with the Infinite Divine Court? No.

The difference between them and Wang Wei lies in their mindset. For them, this is just a job to get some resources and continue their cultivation. Meanwhile, Wang Wei was vindictive and thinking about how he could truly hurt the Infinite Divine Court for what they had done to him. Typically, an ant couldn’t hurt an elephant — no, a galactic star beast — but luckily, this ant had the wisdom and access to other powerful creatures to help him deal with the star beast.

"The karma aspect is possible," she responded. "But I don’t know about the ceremony."

"The Ritual Magic is sounds and logic, the issue is how are we supposed to hide it from the court," the Erudite Duchess commented.

"Through slaughter," Wang Wei explained. "Killing will be everywhere in this expedition. We will also send a few distractions while the key nodes to the ritual will be the countless acts of slaughter."

He glanced at the True Dream Lord. "Even killing in dreams can be used."

’He has only been here for a few minutes, but he has already thought of a way to use everybody as his pawn. I understand why he reached such a height,’ True Dream Lord secretly sighed. Unknown to him, everybody felt this way. As the true masterminds of the Chaos Universe, what plot have they not seen? What plot have they not conducted themselves in? However, those were things mostly done after becoming Saints and standing at the pinnacle of the universe.

"This poor Daoist can design the array for the distraction," the Trinity Venerable added. "However, if we really want this plan to succeed, it might be best to invite Emperor Yunqi."

"Absolutely not," Slaughter Ancestor immediately refused. While Emperor Yunqi’s mastery of Luck Dao would be invaluable to this plan, they would lose most of the benefits. These Saints could accept the invitation of anybody but Emperor Yunqi.

"I second that," Primordial Heaven Sword Saint added. Although the others didn’t say anything, it was apparent they had the same consensus.

’Yunqi – as in luck?’ Wang Wei thought. He deduced briefly before saying. "For the luck component of this ceremony, we have someone who bears the Tribulation Destiny of the upcoming Transcendent Age." As soon as he uttered these words, numerous eyes were on Emperor Kong. Luckily for him, they did it secretly.

"He should suffice," the Erudite Duchess commented.

"We need someone to protect him," Karma Root Monarch added. "Better yet, let’s not involve him in this plan until the last minute."

"How about I leave some of my power inside his body in case of an emergency?" Trinity Venerable suggested.

"That’s too obvious," Slaughter Ancestor disagreed. "Didn’t he come with that Buddha Saint? Have her leave something to protect him."

"But is that enough?"

"Of course, we’ll keep an eye out. But as long as we do our job correctly, the enemy shouldn’t detect his importance."

"And if he dies, we can still transfer the destiny," Karma Root Monarch added.

"Very well," Trinite Venerable nodded.

"Now, there are only three things left to do," the Erudite Duchess uttered as she glanced at the Cardinals. "Have you asked Grand Dao’s opinion on this?"

"I have, and the lord has agreed," the Time Cardinal added, trying but failing at hiding his excitement. After so long, they can finally contribute a good enough merit and improve their status in the eyes of the lord. After the Fate Cardinal’s transgression, everybody realized they were replaceable and had been on edge for a while.

The Tribunal Saints nodded, not surprised by this outcome. The person who will benefit the most from this plan is Grand Dao. Even if they do their best to take a bigger chunk of the profit, this fact will not change. "In that case, let’s renegotiate our previous agreement."

"Are you serious?" the Heaven Cardinal asked.

"Why are you acting surprised?" the Karma Root Monarch countered. "Now there is more benefit and more risk involved; isn’t it normal to renegotiate?"

"Haven’t you people already got your fair share?"

"I’m going to take my leave," Wang Wei suddenly said. He bowed to everybody before rapidly flying toward Maitreya. When gods fight, mortals suffer. Although he believed these people would not harm him, he would not put his safety in the hands of others. Not to mention, they might not be doing it on purpose. Just the aura of one of these beings is enough to crush him to death.

"What’s going on?" Maitreya asked through divine sense. While everybody could see these people’s actions, no one could hear them.

"Negotiation has broken down," Wang Wei casually explained.

"Did you cause trouble?" Maitreya frowned.

"I did what I’m best at: bring benefit to everybody," Wang Wei explained. "However, this time around, I can’t even lead the conversation." He did not doubt he would receive his fair share of the reward. If either side didn’t give it to him, that would mean forming karma with him. Unfortunately, without the proper strength to lead the conversation and fight for the biggest share, he can only rely on fate and karma to ensure he is compensated.

With Wang Wei’s Saint Dao Heart, his desire to climb the ranks of the cultivation world has never wavered. However, every time he meets these Saints, that conviction is reinforced. As someone who pursues absolute freedom, standing around a bunch of people that can determine his life and death — his fate — might as well be a form of torture.

Wang Wei and everybody else calmly waited. As expected, after an intense argument — at least, Wang Wei believed so — everybody came to an agreement. Finally, it was time to have it in writing. The Tribunal Saints released a strange temporal energy that condensed into a lock, while the cardinal released an aura that originated from their domains. The locks bind together before disappearing.

"What’s this?" Wang Wei asked.

"A Time Nexus Contract," Maitreya explained.

"Not an [Existence Contract]?"

"Those are not as binding to Saints as their Time Nexus," she explained.

"That makes sense," Wang Wei nodded. Someone like him was able to survive with most of his [Existence] destroyed or erased, so he could imagine what Saints could do. They have probably escaped most of the shackles of their [Existence], and their only true weakness is their Time Nexus.

"But what about the cardinals? Aren’t they immortal as long as Grand Dao exists?"

"That’s why they use the origin of their domain as collateral," Maitreya explained. "As long as they go back on their words, the Tribunal Sants will take a large chunk of these Grand Constructs as resources."
