Chapter 1735: Thirteen Transcendent Foundation (I)
Void Between Realm:
The Creation Cardinal raised its head, looking at this menacing ensemble of powerhouses: eleven Tribunal Saints and two hundred Primordial Saints. As it saw these people, the only thought left on its mind was that the Infinite Divine Court alone could fight against the entire Primordial Timeline, which is a testament to the world’s current state.
’Things need to be accelerated. The new age must commence as soon as possible,’ the Creation Cardinal thought. The cardinal did not move, waiting for Grand Dao to make the next move. Its job is to protect this timeline, and that’s precisely what the cardinal plans to do. Then, as he expected, nine Tribunal Saints and countless more Primordial Saints teleported to this area, blocking the Infinite Divine Court’s actions.
The Creation Cardinal frowned. The court still had two extra Tribunal Lords, and they started building a strange-looking base. The cardinal’s first instinct was to stop them, but such a rash action could complicate things since the enemy still had two second-step Saints available to fight. If he moved from his spot and one of them directly attacked the blockade, then all their work would have been in vain. Without knowing what the best course of action in this scenario is, the cardinal did what it was programmed to do: report to its boss — Grand Dao — and ask for instructions.
Grand Dao’s response was simple: [providing battle aid]. The Creation Cardinal understood the implications of these words and immediately acted. They raised their hands to create an artificial Critical Hit Path, with the intent to resonate with the one from the Primordial Timeline. With such a boost, the Saints on their side should have the advantage, but something unexpected happened.
The Light Envoy summoned a projection of the Highest Sovereign’s Light Source Realm and rammed it into the enemy’s opponent. The clash of these pseudo-Dao Quintessences generated immense, devastating power. Luckily, they were now in the [Void Between Realms], and everyone present was a Saint or above.
The Creation Cardinal suddenly paused. Its empty facial socket stared at the man bathed in holy lights. After a short clash of their aura, the cardinal continued his previous attempts, trying to bring the Critical Hit Path alive in this foreign place. Grand Dao’s task cannot be accomplished in a direct manner, but it is still passively successful. By forcing the Light Envoy to focus on it, the Creation Cardinal has achieved his job of delaying the enemy’s actions.
Timeline NP89076H, Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array:
Wang Wei opened his eyes from his retreat. He glanced at his palm, and a white light manifested before disappearing. He tried a few more times, but the result was the same. He sighed deeply. "I’m still missing another opportunity." Saint Traits are not so easy to condense, so even with this epiphany, Wang Wei still failed.
He shook his head but did not dwell on it too much. Most of the work had been done; now, he just waited for the right opportunity. If that opportunity never showed up, he can use the rare items from this expedition’s Merit List or from the Exchange List back home to try and create it. Although those have lower chances of success, it’s better than nothing.
’And if all of those fail, so be it,’ Wang Wei thought. He had no attachment to the strongest Paragon title. The true purpose of Saint Traits is to increase his chances of sanctification. If he cannot condense them before a certain period, Wang Wei is prepared to try without them.
Wang Wei glanced through the formation. A few yuan epochs had passed since his retreat, but the entire array was still as quiet as a slaughterhouse. The Tribunal Lords were also in seclusion, probably to heal their injuries. The entire base screams the calm before the storm.
’That’s good news for me,’ Wang Wei thought, deciding to take advantage of this situation. He no longer hesitated before popping a Foundation Re-Establishment Dao Pill into his mouth. An intense pain that went beyond his Immortal Soul spread to every corner of Wang Wei’s very being: every cell, every atom of his existence started screaming in agony. Such
Such intensity of bodily harm would have driven any lesser men to madness, but he merely grunted. After the first wave of inhuman pain, the second followed, and this time it brought a drastic change in aura. Wang Wei’s terrifying cultivation started decreasing: Primal, Peak Pararagon, Paragon, Peak Empyrean...Great Emperor...Quasi-Emperor. Wang Wei’s cultivation did not just regress; his body returned to the state when he was in the Peak of the [Mortal Stage] of cultivation.
"So weak," Wang Wei grunted as he clenched his fist. A Quasi-Emperor with the power of a Third-Class Emperor was unheard of. But when compared to a Paragon — or even an Empyrean — it is indeed very weak. However, Wang Wei also knew it was unfair to compare them; the differences between the realms in the [Immortal Stage] are too vast.
Time was of the essence, so Wang Wei continued his cultivation. He activated the [Thirteen Transcendent Foundation] technique created by his wife. There are three levels to this technique: Essence, Spirit, and Qi. Wang Wei has felt his fleshly body cultivation has become somewhat irrelevant lately, so he chose to condense the Essence Seed first.
Three flowers materialized above Wang Wei’s head, each symbolizing the three talents of the body. The one in the middle—the Essence Flower—began to vibrate as Wang Wei performed the technique. The pain intensified to the point that Wang Wei contemplated giving up for a few seconds before removing all negative thoughts with his iron will.
Then, when the Essence Flower reached the pinnacle of resonance, Wang Wei summoned countless rare materials. A swallowing vortex formed around the flower, absorbing every single one of these precious resources. A purple light emanated from Wang Wei’s body, starting from his head and slowly spreading to his toes.
’Is this flesh optimization?’ he thought. He understood how this technique would have allowed him to have the strength of a Second-Class Emperor had he used it in the lower dimension. As a [Mortal Emperor], Wang Wei no longer had room for improvement. The process of becoming a Mortal Emperor is to break the limit on the amount of power a mortal body can hold by creating a larger container.
Unfortunately, such an approach contained many flaws. A Mortal Emperor has not experienced the transition to a higher-dimensional lifeform that Great Emperors have. A Mortal Emperor’s bucket can no longer hold more power, nor can it be further tampered with to increase its strength. So, how can they improve? Wu Hong learned from Primals and found a way to optimize the bucket, the water, and everything else to improve a Mortal Emperor’s strength.
Boom!
Wang Wei’s aura exploded, and his strength increased to the level of a Second-Class Emperor. "Truly a brilliant woman," he smiled as he threw a few punches that released terrifying shockwaves inside this retreat. After a few minutes of testing, Wang Wei immediately checked the evolution of his Essence Flower Divine Ability. Before this, he primarily used it to help him through bottlenecks in his Fleshly Body Cultivation.
’The cultivation assistance ability still remains, but the new ability has developed toward healing,’ Wang Wei analyzed. ’Hmm? Can it even heal [Existence Injuries]?’ He immediately checked and soon learned it was true. By absorbing any kind of energy, his Essence Flower Ability can accelerate healing — including Existence Injuries.
’This is a great ability — one that can even accompany me throughout my Saint Path,’ Wang Wei smiled. Saints do not heal easily, so any decent technique or ability that can accelerate their recovery is always welcome.
Wang Wei stopped what he was doing to check outside. The second attack hasn’t started yet, meaning he still has some time. Moreover, even if it had, as the Grand Commander, he did not need to put his life in danger unless the Tribunal Lords directly ordered his deployment.
’Let’s finish the second Transcendent Foundation as soon as possible so we can have time to create the third,’ Wang Wei thought. He ignored everything else and focused on the task at hand: which seed to plant next — Qi or Spirit.
’If I guess correctly, the Spirit Seed should have the ability to accelerate the rate at which someone becomes a Primal.’ Had Wang Wei used this technique before ascending, his [Primal Path] would have been easier since his soul would have experienced a lesser form of optimization from the Spirit Flower.
’By that logic, my already optimized soul should make the Spirit Seed easier and faster,’ Wang Wei analyzed. While the Foundation Re-establishment reverts his body to the state before becoming an Immortal, it doesn’t mean his previous cultivation is completely gone. By drawing on his prior experience optimizing his soul, Wang Wei can reduce the time — and maybe even the resources — required to condense the Spirit Seed.
’Spirit Seed it is,’ Wang Wei muttered. He once again summoned the three flowers above his head, and the one on the left started trembling.
[AN: Any suggestions on the subsequent updates of the Spirit and Qi Flower Abilities?]
