Chapter 1737: Fate & Freedom Fruit
As soon as Wang Wei asked himself that question, he thought of an answer. The Freedom Fruit is a physical manifestation of the Freedom Aspect of his Fate Dao, so what better way to nourish such a Dao Fruit than to the Freedom Path of other talented individuals? Wang Wei remembered he had met countless interesting individuals with unique Fate and Freedom Dao when he used the Refining Path Stone.
’I could use these people’s Freedom Dao to nourish my fruit and perfect it,’ Wang Wei thought. The more he thought about it, the more he liked the idea. Although Wang Wei’s Fate Dominating Dao also involved Freedom, Free Will, and Choice, those aspects paled in comparison to the Fate Aspect. However, if he could nourish his own Freedom Dao with the Dao of countless talented individuals or just people with unique interpretations, then he would make up for his weakness.
’Such an improvement to my Freedom Dao could be the key to completely eliminating my Fate Seed Status,’ Wang Wei thought. No matter how he thinks about it, he feels this was a superb idea. The only downside is that Wang Wei will require a lot of Refining Path Stone.
’The Merit List has the stones, but do they have enough?’ Wang Wei thought and checked on the list. Refining Path Stone was not a rare resource, but no one expected someone to need hundreds, maybe thousands of them. He did not hesitate to buy 500 of them, almost draining all the merit he acquired during the first battle.
’So far, there seems to be enough,’ Wang Wei felt relieved. With all the resources he needed, it was time to cultivate this third and final transcendent foundation. The first step was not even the technique itself, but the nourishment. Wang Wei expanded the spatial dimensions of one of the rooms in his quarters to create a larger space.
Then, using his Fate Dao as a medium and numerous formations to create an artificial River of Fate. He had extensive knowledge on the subject matter, and with his wife’s knowledge and experience from creating the six Grand Constructs, the process was smooth. However, the final result was an illusory river, which Wang Wei expected.
[Cause and Effect Feedback]
After casting that spell, a potent energy stemming from all the causality or influence Wang Wei has had in this timeline since his arrival rushed into the illusory River of Fate. In a matter of minutes, the River of Fate transitioned from an intangible state to a materialistic state.
"So potent," Wang Wei muttered, slightly surprised. However, a quick analysis made him realize it was as it should be. His actions have fundamentally altered the course of history in this timeline. If not for Wang Wei’s words, the Tribunal Lords and Cardinals would never have chosen such a brutal means of invasion. And that’s not mentioning the changes caused by Wang Wei, such as the death of a Primordial Saint and his influence on the hidden battle between second-step powerhouses.
So, as he watched his River of Fate rapidly reach the limit of its power, a bright smile flashed on Wang Wei’s handsome face. There was so much more causal energy left. "It’s a shame this thing only works for quick accumulation,’ he sighed. So far, Wang Wei’s understanding and application of this power are limited to instant accumulation. However, when he tried to use it for other things, such as improving his understanding or even something as basic as healing, everything else failed.
’Forget it. Let’s not be greedy,’ Wang Wei shook his head. Now that all the resources had been gathered, it was time for the technique. He had long prepared for the possibility of condensing his foundation in this expedition, so Wang Wei took out a Prime Enlightening Pill from his space ring and swallowed it. The war outside has already begun, but Wang Wei ignored it all.
The pill drastically decreased the time needed for the creation process. The 12 times time acceleration also gave him plenty of advantages, but it still took him a few yuan epochs to complete his technique and condense the [Fate & Freedom Fruit]. Despite the name, they did not resemble fruits; instead, they resembled two perfectly shaped rhombus crystals floating above Wang Wei’s head.
With a thought, the River of Fate appeared in the room, and the left crystal immediately trembled. It released a powerful, attractive force that rapidly devoured the artificial River of Fate. Countless images flashed in Wang Wei’s mind, forcing him to experience the events of this from a unique perspective: he saw everything through the lens of fate itself.
Timeline NP89076H originally had its own trajectory, and Grand Dao’s expedition drastically altered that course. But Wang Wei’s influence — even without knowing it — might be on par with Grand Dao’s actions. Through this unique experience, Wang Wei finally learned of his influence on helping the Tribunal Lords break away from the cardinal’s or maybe even Grand Dao’s spiritual hint.
’Interesting,’ Wang Wei muttered. His current state was truly unique. He seems to be fused with the River of Fate, but simultaneously, he appears to be a spirit wandering around the river. Regardless of the truth, the current state has allowed him to experience the subtle machinations of one of the Grand Constructs and learn a few secrets.
’Hmm? It’s not over?’
Wang Wei thought the experience had finished, but there seemed to be more. ’That’s right, I’ve only seen the effects on my side of the line.’ His actions also influenced the people of the Infinite Divine Court, and as part of his third Transcendent Foundation, it seems he’ll also experience their side of the story.
Wang Wei’s mind wandered, and he "saw" a figure sitting cross-legged in an unknown area. The figure was hard to make out at first, but as time passed, it became clearer. ’A woman?’ he thought. There was still no clear visual clearance, but the overall shape and charm of the figure indicated a woman.
Boom!
A clear pair of eyes that seemed to contain endless charms suddenly opened and glanced at him. The moment Wang Wei laid eyes on these eyes, everything about him was instantly charmed or enchanted. He lost his soul, his body’s instinct lost control, and even his Dao seemed to have escaped his control and showed allegiance under her pomegranate skirt.
Luckily for him, he was in a unique state of enlightenment, so the protective mechanism of the River of Fate activated to wake him up from that terrible state. ’That woman should be the court’s hidden Tribunal Saint,’ Wang Wei thought with a look of horror. He immediately wanted to stop his epiphany, but he found himself unable to move.
The woman glanced at him before reaching out, probably with the intent to annihilate him. However, Suijing suddenly stopped as she realized that if she took action, her whereabouts would be discovered. For a moment, she debated whether she should take the risk, but stopped herself for the greater good. This little ant was not worth risking all the progress she’s made so far. Of course, she couldn’t allow him to leave just like that and reveal her whereabouts.
So, with a thought, she wiped out his memory of today’s interaction. Despite the overwhelming difference in strength, Wang Wei instinctively resisted. His Sea of Consciousness contained a unique spirit clone he didn’t even know existed; he left it there to monitor his behavior, to prevent himself from losing his emotions and from treating everybody — including his family — as nothing but pawns or puppets. That spirit clone desperately tried to resist the memory erasure, but it was useless.
This level of attack is direct character modification. It’s as if Wang Wei were a computer program with code, and Suijing directly altered the code of his existence to erase his mind. Their level of life was too far apart, so all forms of resistance were pointless. But that did not mean Wang Wei did not try.
Whether it was his willpower, Saint Dao Heart, ChronoSpirit, his Fateless status, and everything else, he tried everything. Unfortunately, the result was the same: he forgot ever seeing the woman. No, he even forgot he had his mind wiped in the first place. Wang Wei continued his enlightenment as if nothing had happened.
Wang Wei opened his eyes and exhaled deeply. A smile crept on his face as he watched the left rhombus crystal turn from transparent to silver-grey: the Fate Fruit was completed. However, his smile quickly turned to a frown.
"This Fate Fruit seemed too powerful," he commented. For his third transcendent foundation to be truly successful, there needs to be a balance between the two Fruits. But now, the Fate Fruit has used such a potent item as nourishment, pushing it to a level Wang Wei did not expect.
"How many Refining Path Stones will I need to absorb before I can nourish the Freedom Fruit to a similar level?" Wang Wei muttered. A quick calculation told him no amount of stones might be enough. He may need something else.
"Anyway, let’s refine as many as possible first," Wang Wei sighed.
