Chapter 1770: Confucius?
Wang Wei was not a fan of the fact that most of these Transcendent Foundation Methods belonged to Taoism, Buddhism, and the Literary Way. However, the sect can use them as a foundation to innovate and develop new, more universal methods. He can work with the other Ancestors or choose someone with high comprehension and assign them the task of refining these techniques.
"When you think about it, the foundation of the Infinite Divine Court is truly scary," Wang Wei sighed.
"Indeed," Emperor Kong nodded. In just one of the many worlds that make up one array, in one timeline, there are more than a hundred Transcendent Foundation Methods. Meanwhile, the Infinite Divine Court has probably conquered millions of timelines, if not more.
"Do you think our faction will ever be this powerful?"
"I don’t see why not," Wang Wei replied.
"But would Grand Dao ever allow it?"
"The good thing about the Highest Sovereign’s existence is he has shown the Infinite Trichiliocosm a new path forward," Wang Wei smiled.
"Indeed," Kong nodded with shining eyes. Who wouldn’t want to build an empire or lineage on a scale as large as the Infinite Divine Court? The only reason people haven’t tried is probably that they haven’t figured out the unique method the Highest Sovereign used to perfectly fuse so many timelines to the point he could build a world that resembled the Primordial Timeline.
Once that technology is cracked or once the Highest Sovereign ever released it, the Chaos Universe, with all the infinite timelines, will erupt into a chaotic state unlike anything anyone could ever fathom. One of the reasons Grand Dao is probably scared or dares not to push the Highest Sovereign too far is probably out of fear of him overthrowing the board by releasing that method.
The two chatted for a few more minutes before Emperor Kong left. As Wang Wei watched his departing back, he couldn’t help but frown: "Education for all — isn’t that Sage Confucius’ ideology? And if I remember correctly, the Sage’s last name was also Kong. Is this a coincidence? Or did Kong also inherit the latter’s spirit? Is the Literary Way about to transform into Confucianism?’
Numerous thoughts flashed in his mind. If this theory is correct, it means that the revival of the Literary across the entire Chaos Universe might be happening during the Transcendent Age, and Kong is the person with the destiny to achieve such a goal.
’I’m suddenly tempted to kill him and have someone from the sect take his destiny,’ Wang Wei thought. There was a perfect candidate as well: Dong Lifen’s husband, Wang Zi. However, after briefly considering it, Wang Wei gave up the idea. He knew too little about people who inherit spirits or legacies from Earth. So far, he’s only met Maitreya, Ksigarbha, and Ye Dafu, who may or may not have inherited Sun Wukong’s spirit. More importantly, he had a feeling that Kong may not be as simple as inheriting Confucius’ spirit.
’While I can’t kill and take his destiny, I also can’t allow him to enjoy all the fortune and blessing involved,’ he analyzed. ’Our sect should have scholars participate in the spread of Confucianism. And since Kong can inherit Confucius’ ideas and develop them, Wang Zi can follow in the steps of Mencius." As long as this can be done properly, Wang Zi will become a prospective Saint, which is great news for the Dao Opening Sect.
A smile crept on Wang Wei’s face. After today’s event, he was further reassured in his decision to reject the status of Destiny Chosen One. Because of who it was, Wang Wei could still benefit from them. Kong cannot escape his clutch.
’I need to further tighten the karmic ties between us,’ Wang Wei thought, who immediately sensed something. ’And here is an opportunity showing at my door." He invited Xu Shi to come in while he cleaned up the table.
"Wine or tea," he asked as she sat down.
"Tea, please, preferably something that calms the mind," Xu Shi replied. Now was not the time to have her mind affected; she needed to remain calm and rational when dealing with either Lin Fan’s matter or negotiating with Wang Wei.
Wang Wei served her tea with an effect similar to the wine he gave to Kong. Currently, most soldiers at the base were dealing with their Dao Heart, so spiritual items that could benefit this area had become extremely popular.
After taking a sip, Xu Shi closed her eyes to enjoy the savour and the effect. She finished the entire cup before opening her eyes. Wang Wei served her a second cup, and she finally spoke:
"Lin Fan is missing."
"I noticed after he failed to report back," Wang Wei nodded.
"I’ve searched the last place he visited, but I cannot find anything. However, my intuition tells me there is something, so I was hoping you could check it out."
Wang Wei smiled. "We both know that is not true."
"Pardon me?"
"Why don’t we have an honest conversation? For starters, you should introduce me to the being sharing your consciousness."
Xu Shi’s expression became stiff. "I thought you said no one could detect your presence — not even the Tribunal Lords."
"Nothing has gone wrong so far, so it should have been true," Siwangji replied. She was as baffled as he was. "Let me talk to him."
"Are you sure about this?"
"Since he’s already aware of my presence, there is no point in hiding it."
"Fine."
Wang Wei suddenly felt a pull on his mind. Since this was his home base and he did not sense any danger, he did not resist. His spirit entered a white spiritual world, where two people sat on a small pavilion overlooking a lake. He recognized Xu Shi; meanwhile, the other person was a beautiful woman in all black, with rouge and a small black tattoo running down her left eye. In the eyes of a modern Earthling, she would be the ultimate goth queen.
However, what caught Wang Wei’s attention were her eyes. Her dark pupil contained the purest essence of death, and for a brief moment, he even saw the origin of death itself. ’At her peak, this woman was probably very close to condensing the death Dao Quintessence,’ he thought.
"You must be the Death Chaos Demon God."
"Strange. There is something familiar about you," Siwangji muttered. She never noticed it before, but upon close examination of Wang Wei, his keen senses detected something odd. "You have such a deep causal connection to brother Hongjun? No, not just him, even with Pangu."
Wang Wei observed her quietly while his real body was already on guard. Any signs of trouble, he will instantly activate the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array and make as much noise as possible.
"I’ve met Hongjun, and he’s helped me immensely," Wang Wei admitted while still secretly observing. Siwangji’s eyes became unfocused, seemingly lost in her memories.
"I wonder how they’re doing?"
"I don’t know about Pangu, but Hongjun reincarnated and started over."
"So, he has abandoned our race? Well, I can’t blame him. In that situation, survival was more important than anything else," Siwangji sighed. "Can you tell me where I can meet him?"
"No, but I can send him news and see if he wants to see you or not."
"That’s fine too," she nodded.
’It seems this one has no animosity toward Pangu or Hongjun for what they did,’ Wang Wei analyzed. The catastrophe awaiting the Prehistoric World is the revenge of the Chaos Demon Gods. For Wang Wei and everybody on Earth, the fewer of these demon gods that hate them, the better their situation will be.
Wang Wei had many questions he wanted to ask this woman, but now was not the time. Instead, he asked for a brief introduction before the conversation shifted to Lin Fan’s and his situation.
"Who is the one inhabiting Lin Fan’s body?"
Xu Shi and Siwangji glanced at each other.
"It’s my big brother, Hundunxi."
These words elicited a frown from Wang Wei. "Based on the information I know, I can probably deduce that the secret realm you found was probably left by the final battle between this timeline’s Hundunxi and Pangu. The fact Lin Fan was able to enter is probably not an accident."
"We feared as much," Xu Shi sighed. "We can’t enter the secret realm to save him, so I came to ask for help."
"I can help you, but I need a favor from you."
"I’ll hear you out," the Death Chaos Demon said.
"I need you to keep an eye on someone for me," Wang Wei revealed. "No, not just keep an eye, but also observe and analyze them, and if necessary, I need you to eliminate him."
"Who are you talking about?"
"It’s a man called Death Reverence."
"Isn’t that one of the Primordial Saints?" Siwangji asked. "It’s fine to keep an eye on him, but I can’t do much else."
"I don’t believe for a second that you haven’t regained basic Saint strength."
"True, but I’m still weary of the Tribunal Lords."
"There really is no need," Wang Wei said. "Your sister is a proper member of our expedition, and nothing has happened to her."
