Chapter 2104: Wilmot’s Death

Chapter 2104: Wilmot’s Death

Kora was about to make a move when Grey was suddenly sucked away by a portal.

"Huh?" Kora and the other Gnomes were shocked by Grey’s sudden disappearance. They had seen him use his space element a few times and it was not in this manner.

While they wondered where Grey went, Grey was also surprised by the sudden change in his scenery. One minute he was looking at the body of the middle-aged Gnome he managed to attack, the next second he was standing before two distracted Gnomes.

Grey did not stay distracted for long, recollecting himself, his mental sense spread outward and covered the puppets as well as Rikard and Wilmot.

The duo were still shocked by the slow disappearance of another one of their subordinates, and once again, it was one of Wilmot’s subordinates that was killed.

They were about to investigate what was happening there since their puppets had things under control with Robert when they sensed a strange aura.

Grey and General Robert did not give the duo the chance to recover. Grey cut the link between the duo, while aiming for the heart of Wilmot.

General Robert targeted Rikard, hoping they could kill the duo with this attack.

The attack was just about to land when Robert’s distracted eyes regained a little focus. Panic and fear appeared in the eyes before a burst of red light lit up in his chest, instantly enveloping his entire body. His fingers were the first to move in his entire frozen body, and at that moment, General Robert’s attack hit.

Wilmot was more out of focus compared to Rikard since he was the one who seemed to be losing another one of his subordinates. His mind was filled with regret when everything suddenly went blank. At the moment this happened, one name echoed in his mind, only he was unable to say it. Being a Peak Sovereign, he was able to regain his vision as well as attempting to control his body when Grey’s attack struck him square in the chest.

Grey’s hand appeared on the back of Wilmot with a beating heart in his clutch dripping blood.

Ba-dump!

The heartbeat was loud and clear even though the heart was no longer in Wilmot’s body.

Wilmot regained control of his body after the best of his heart and tried to grab hold of Grey’s hand that passed through his chest.

Grey swiftly withdrew his hand before retreating from where Wilmot was standing.

Wilmot coughed up mouthfuls of blood as he used one hand to try to keep the blood from gushing out of the hole in his chest, and another one to try to hold the blood in his mouth from pumping out.

Boom!

"Argh!!!"

An explosion rang from the other side as Rikard’s figure was sent flying by General Robert.

General Robert chased after Rikard, hoping to kill him before he fully regained his bearings.

Wilmot used his essence to stop the blood from gushing out of his chest before facing Grey with blood red eyes, "Give it back."

"What? This?" Grey toyed with the heart in his hand before looking at Wilmot as his grip on the heart tightened.

"I don’t think you need this anymore now, do you?" He asked.

"Give me the heart and I’ll leave with my troop." Wilmot tried to bargain.

"I don’t think you understand your current predicament." Grey squeezed the heart a few times before continuing, "Your life and death is currently in my hands, do you think I care whether you leave with your troops or not? Your life is more valuable than your entire troop."

Wilmot grimaced at Grey’s words. He knew Grey was right. Getting to the Peak of the Sovereign Plane was no easy feat. In every thousand Ninth stage Sovereigns, only about fifty or so are able to successfully break through to the Peak of the Sovereign Plane which goes to show just how difficult it was to achieve. As long as Grey could kill him here, then his troop was also as good as dead anyway since Rikard would not be able to defend against Grey.

"Grey Dawson, who would’ve thought you would grow to this level." Wilmot murmured.

"When the bounty was placed on you all those years ago, I thought the Prince had gone crazy. They made mention of how you were able to forcibly cut off the links to our puppets leaving us incapacitated and like me, a lot of us did not believe it."

"A few years later your name popped up once again, and this time, the reward was even higher. At that time even the Emperor started to show a lot of interest in you, after all, we were still planning to take over your world. When it was discovered that only you can do this, the reward for your death tripled, and I wanted to take up the offer when I was tipped off about one of your travels, but at the time, I didn’t see you nor the rewards as anything worthwhile."

"I..."

Wilmot’s speech suddenly stopped as Grey dropped the heart which had turned to ashes to the ground. He was not interested in Wilmot’s story, and since he did not need him alive, he decided to kill him right there and then. Generally speaking, just crushing the heart would not be enough to instantly kill a Peak Sovereign Elementalist, but when his fist went through Wilmot’s body, he released a large wave of hidden essence energy, so even if he did not crush the heart, Wilmot would have died all the same.

Wilmot was dead. A Peak Sovereign died in a matter of a few seconds in the hand of a Ninth stage Sovereign.

...

On the side of the Ninth stage Sovereigns.

When Grey suddenly vanished, they all looked around in confusion. Kora was the one who was particularly perplexed as she was unable to sense where Grey was going to appear. Previously, she could still sense his movements thanks to also being a Space Elementalist.

She was still trying to wrap her head around what happened when the explosion from General Robert’s attack hitting Rikard sounded out as well as the pained scream of Rikard. As they focused their attention in that direction, they saw Grey’s hand holding the heart of Wilmot.

They saw Grey distance himself from Wilmot, with the heart still in his hand. The subordinates of Wilmot were rushing over when they saw Grey burning the heart to ash with his blue flames.

When Kora saw the blue flames, her eyes suddenly widened.

"Blue flames, Space Elementalist, able to kill a Peak Sovereign while still being a Ninth stage Sovereign with the help of a sneak attack."

She could tell that the only way Grey was able to hold the heart of Wilmot without the latter being able to stop him was if he was incapacitated. When she thought about how Grey was able to swiftly kill one of the Ninth stage Sovereigns a few minutes back and adding it to his blue flames and space element, only one person came to mind...

"He’s Grey Dawson!" She exclaimed.

When the Gnomes heard Kora’s words, a look of dread appeared in their eyes. Even Wilmot’s subordinates paused when they heard this.

The entire Gnome world knew who Grey Dawson was, much less those who came to attack the human world. Grey Dawson was a name they had been warned to avoid due to how dangerous he was. It was well known that he had traded blows with a Peak Sovereign while only being in the Eighth stage of the Sovereign Plane, which went to show just how great his strength was.

That person was before them right now, and he just killed a Peak Sovereign like he was slaughtering a farm animal. Wilmot did not even get the chance to even fight back before he was killed in such a way.

The sound of Grey’s name sounded like a thunderbolt to the Gnomes. Kora and the other Gnomes who were beating Grey up a few minutes ago were unable to grasp how they managed to fight such a person.

A Ninth stage Sovereign took in a deep breath before looking at the others, "He’s not invincible, the cowardly manner of their attack proves this."

"Take the lead in attacking him then, we are behind you." One of Wilmot’s remaining two subordinates suggested.

"We are only weak to him if he can cut off our links with our puppets. Remember Baern is not like us." The Ninth stage Sovereign pointed at the young looking Gnome by his side. This was also a Ninth stage Sovereign, and unlike most Gnomes and Necromancers, the connection between him and his puppet was not something Grey could affect.

The Gnomes thought about it but none of them showed any signs of taking the lead to attack.

"Commander Rikard is injured, if he ends up dead, do you think Robert will spare us if we are still here?"
