Chapter 2109: Fiend From Hell
Grey had a grin on his face as he waved before taking a step forward. His entire body became covered by lightning with faint golden lights around it. He turned into a streak of silver and golden light and breezed past the approaching puppet he had slowed down with his gravitational force field.
Baern saw the streak of light getting larger even in the complete darkness of his domain and felt his heart palpitate. He hurriedly tried to get the puppet to come back to defend him, but to his dismay, the puppet’s movements were like a crawling snail compared to Grey’s lightning speed. He was certain that if Grey caught up to him he would die.
"Ahhh!" Roaring with all his might, he sucked in the darkness enveloping him and Grey, hoping one of the others outside his domain would be able to help him.
While sucking in the domain, he also weaved a quick series of hand seals and a token appeared in front of him before shining with a dull brownish glow. The brownish glow turned into what looked like the shell of a turtle with Baern in it.
Grey was unperturbed by the turtle shell, clenching his fist tightly, he punched the shell with all his might.
Baern, who was still in the middle of sucking in his domain yelped when he felt the shell shake and cracks began to form on it. He tried to suck in the darkness faster, but the cracks on the shell were expanding at a much quicker rate.
His eyes were wide open when Grey’s fist passed through the shell, shattering it in the process. The next thing he saw was Grey standing before him with a look of disdain. He wanted to speak but Grey grabbed him by the neck, forcefully shutting his mouth and stopping him from removing his domain.
Baern’s eyes were filled with fear and panic. It had only been a few seconds since he trapped Grey in his domain, the others hadn’t even gotten the chance to reach them, yet he was about to be killed by Grey. One has to know that they were both Ninth stage Sovereigns, and he even had a Ninth stage Sovereign puppet helping him as well, so how was he beaten this quickly and this easily as well?
What he found even more mysterious was how Grey was able to find him in his domain. It was practically impossible for anyone in the same cultivation stage as himself to negate the effects his domain had on their senses. He also knew at the start Grey was unable to locate him or his puppet, hence the reason he was able to harass him with his puppet.
Using all his strength, he asked, "How? How did you find me?"
Grey looked at him listlessly, "I can’t cut the connection, but I can get to the end of two lines with ease. I must admit your domain is quite interesting."
Baern looked at Grey in confusion, only for realization to hit him right after. Grey used the puppet to locate him. He was connected to the puppet, which meant as long as Grey interacted with the puppet, he would be able to use it to find him.
’I brought him to me...’ He could barely contain the pain and regret he was feeling at the moment. He only wanted to delay Grey long enough for the others to come help him, but he would’ve never thought his act of harassing Grey would bring the fiend right to him.
Outside the domain.
Grey saw the expanse of darkness rapidly reducing and knew that Baern was trying to remove his domain. Just after the reduction went past halfway, it suddenly stopped.
An ominous feeling arose within her and she hurriedly attacked the domain, destroying it from outside.
"That moron." She cursed at Baern for his foolishness as she attacked.
The others arrived and they destroyed the domain after five seconds or so.
The sight that welcomed them was one that made their hearts grow cold. Grey was standing in the sky like a warlord, his hand firmly on Baern’s neck who was motionless. Looking closer, they saw tears on the side of Baern’s eyes that were filled with despair and hatred.
Grey looked at the dead eyes staring at him and felt nothing, he would never feel pity for Gnomes, never. He tossed the body of Baern to the side like a rag doll. Turning his attention to the four Gnomes watching him, one side of his lips curved upwards to form a smirk.
Kora and the old Gnome were the duo standing at the front. Seeing the dead Baern, they tried to search for his puppet, but it was nowhere in sight.
Gritting her teeth, Kora glared at Grey, "You’re really something, Grey Dawson."
"Thank you." Grey said cheekily as he slowly strode forward. With every step he took, the old Gnome unconsciously took one back too, matching him stride for stride.
Kora noticed this and nudged the old Gnome, snapping him out of his state of fear. When she looked at the eyes of the old Gnome, all she saw was dread. She looked at the two other Gnomes, and she saw the same dread and fear in their eyes. She turned to Grey, and looking at him and recalling the manner with which he tossed Baern’s body to the ground, she did not see a devilishly handsome young man, all she saw was a fiend.
Grey’s killing intent soared when he sensed their fear. He was a veteran warrior even though he was still very young, so if he sees fear from an opponent, he knows it. As much as elemental and physical strengths had a lot to do with fighting, there was also psychological warfare. An Elementalist could defeat an opponent in the same cultivation realm with ease if said opponent feared him.
Overflowing with momentum, Grey used his fire domain to manifest a burning scene behind him like he was walking out from hell, giving himself an even more ferocious aura, scaring the Gnomes witless.
