Chapter 2505: Proposal
"Do you like card games?"
Watt asked again, in response to the silence of the crowd.
"Seems like you guys are shy. Let me pick the game, then."
As he said, the cards in his hands changed. The blood red cards were replaced by a huge pack of silver cards. At the same time the wind currents changed.
Based on the type of shuffle he used the wind changed its direction. It was sharp and dangerous... every single person in the zone felt it.
At that moment, one of the nervous ones couldn’t handle the pressure anymore and just jumped at Watt.
At that moment, Watt flicked one of the cards, mid-shuffle. It wasn’t even aimed at the opponent, so he didn’t care for it after a moment of confusion. But the card which was flying in a different direction, had a puppet intercept it.
At the same time, as Watt changed the shuffle, the wind current changed. The card changed trajectory mid-air and it brushed past the nape of the opponent that came at him. Even before he could make sense of what was happening... he head fell off his neck, followed by his body which collapsed.
And that’s the beginning of it.
Watt noticed the killing intent flashing in the eyes of some enemies and all the cards in the pack flew away from him. But it seemed like no matter how many cards left his hands, they didn’t seem to run out.
Out of thin air, more and more cards appeared and they flew in the territory like it was their natural habitat.
The opponents thought the puppets were the threat, but all they were doing was act as aides to manipulate the wind trajectory.
The true threat were the wind currents and the cards they carried. There were dozens and soon a couple of hundred of them. They didn’t leave even in a small opening to advance.
Some people slammed them with their weapons and some threw the ranged attacks... but whenever an attack landed, the barrier in the cards triggered. The inscriptions lit up and deflected the attacks.
Some times, even the other enemies got hit by those attacks.
Watt... throughout the whole time, didn’t even move. He just shuffled the cards like he was at a poker game.
The cards were lethal. And unlike the first time, Watt wasn’t even making decisive hits. He wasn’t killing them in a single shot. Instead, the cards scraped.
They took off the skin, the flesh, cut off a limb, and sometimes even just a finger.
Despite their huge number, the opponents felt useless and desperate. They couldn’t even land a single blow properly...
The whole thing lasted more than an hour. Watt really did take the longest out of the three.
And by the time the only last remaining member succumbed to the fear, Watt stopped his cards from floating around. They all came back and landed in his palm and even the hundreds of cards, turned into a regular pack.
The Silver Wind slowly descended towards the remaining survivor.
Watt for the first time actually looked at the opponent in the eyes.
"Maintain that fear that you have in your eyes right now and let them know. I am Watt, and I work for Sam. Tell them to come and catch me if they can."
Watt just like the other two, made a recording.
All three slaughters happened at around the same time. And the last three survivors from all three slaughters came out of the worlds at around the same time.
They were beaten, terrified and exhausted.
All three of them went to the elders that hired them, and submitted the evidence. All three survivors were sent to the Zeus academy where they were sent to the healing room. The healers there took good care of them.
When the elders and the Dean saw the videos, they felt anger, surprise and helplessness all at the same time.
Bloody Chariot out of all people, wanted to smack himself silly.
"They are mocking us. He is mocking us."
Everyone is silent. But Bloody Chariot went on...
"Those bastards. His closest friends, were right here in the middle our ranks, they rose to the top. Just when we thought they were all done, these three pop up.
They are clearly rubbing it in our faces that even after they taught us such a lesson, we still didn’t weed them out.
And they are telling us that we can’t do shit even after we found out.
This...This..."
He felt at a loss of words.
He ground his teeth and took a few deep breaths.
"Call for the Deans of all the academies. We are having an emergency meeting. I am calling for a vote on the change of regulations in the conquest of worlds."
Within an hour after Bloody Chariot made that demand, all the academy deans. All of them including Dean Wharton showed up.
For the rest of the academies, even their grand elders, or whoever’s left of them paid the visit, but Wharton was alone and he still had that same curious, goofy and bored expression. Only god knows how he maintains all three emotional states at the same time...
Bloody Chariot looked at the room full of powerhouses and said.
"I am calling for a vote on the change of rules in the conquest.
We should be able to send people of higher cultivation into lower worlds with the contingency that they suppress their cultivation. And once they enter the lower world, if they try to forcefully regain their full strength, the laws of the world should forcefully kill them.
I request you all to give me a vote and agree with my decision so that I can petition the gods."
That was the only statement and Bloody Chariot turned to look at Wharton before he asked.
"All those who agree with my proposal, please raise your hand."
And just like that, all hands raised. Except for Whartons.
"Proposal approved. I shall conduct a ritual to summon the gods and ask for permission. If everything goes well, we will have approval by tonight."
