Chapter 3766: The Next Step
No one came after Alex or the other three once the battle was over. Having to pay out so many stars at once had left them all numb and hopeless. A not-so-insignificant portion of the group was even forced to depart from the place, while those that remained didn’t have enough to go around challenging others willy-nilly.
The community hadn’t collapsed just yet, but the atmosphere had changed quite a bit. The safety net they thought they had before with Su Nian was no longer there, and they could only stare at Alex standing next to the Marker with awe in their eyes.
Alex didn’t really do much once he was near the Marker. He simply sat and cultivated, letting the women decide whether they wanted to train or cultivate. What he did do was let the people know that they would no longer be blocking anyone from coming over to the Marker.
If they did, he would make the region around the Marker unapproachable and make their lives hell. That threat was enough for the people to be generous with the Marker.
Zi Mengyao’s group was happy when they learned about the change. And a few days later, many more people made their way to the Marker at a constant rate. The number of people gathered in the area continued to grow, despite it not officially being a community.
Because of Alex, in essence, it had become one.
Alex was not the central pillar that held the whole thing together, but he was strong enough that his presence alone caused everyone to work together. They began fighting in friendly matches, and the women soon joined them.
Su Nian left at some point, no longer wanting to stay there. No one really knew where he had gone. Firefang stayed behind and became the core figure handling everyone and everything. She tried to handle the community again, just like she had done for Su Nian.
Alex didn’t mind.
He was more focused on his own cultivation, and to not be disturbed, he went so far as to spend thousands of stars to get undisturbed sessions of cultivation. At the same time, he was also adding to his Origin, which he filled at a quicker rate now.
Having a stronger cultivation base meant stronger Qi, which meant more aura could be added to the Origin at a faster pace. It sped up rapidly for someone later in the Immortal Transcendent realm.
Every so often, Alex would stop cultivating and go around for a few weeks improving his Intent. The progress on that had slowed down, but he would rather his cultivation base improve than this anyway.
Time slowly passed, and before he knew it, close to 5 years had passed. In that time, he had hardly done anything more than cultivate.
And the fruit of all that labor had finally appeared.
Alex broke through to the Immortal Transcendent 6th realm. Now, only 3 more realms remained before he reached the Immortal Spirit realm.
His Body and Spirit improved along with the improvement in his cultivation base, but there was hardly enough of a change for it to be noticeable. He already had Divine realm strength with them, after all.
After breaking through and then spending a few more days consolidating his Qi, Alex finally got out of his secluded cultivation.
Everyone congratulated him for having broken through. By now, the community around the Marker had grown by at least ten thousand more.
Alex met up with the women and checked on their progress. They were doing well in the 5 years they had been here.
Both Helen and Liz had learned their weapon Qi, although Liz was slightly annoyed that she had been second despite starting earlier. That wasn’t much of a surprise considering Helen’s talent. She wasn’t as good when it came to improving her cultivation base, but when it came to comprehending different things, she was nearly untouchable.
Ronron had improved as well, getting better at handling fighters in battle. This was exactly what the Sky God wanted anyway.
"How many days do you guys have remaining?" Alex asked, looking back at the Marker that constantly had a line these days.
"23 days until the next cycle of stars," Liz answered. "Why do you ask?"
"23 days," Alex repeated with a subtle nod. "23 days, and then we leave this place."
Liz’s eyes narrowed. "We’re going to leave this place? But you get free stars for just being here," she said. "I’ve already earned close to 4000 stars just by being here. That’s like 20% of my original total."
"Congratulations, but we’re leaving," Alex said. "You guys won’t learn much if you continue to fight the same group of people over and over. Most of these people don’t even fight you seriously, which is what you need. So, once you’re done with this cycle, we’ll leave this place."
The women could only nod once Alex was done.
Alex understood that the three women hadn’t really earned any stars these past 5 years at all. It was just that they had lost less with the Marker nearby. If they were to leave it, their loss would increase, and they would be kicked out of the place very soon.
Alex did not care if that truly happened or not. The only thing he wanted was to teach them, and teach them he did.
The next few weeks passed by in a flash, and before anyone knew it, the days had passed and the group got their final set of stars. The moment they registered, they got their 500 extra stars.
People had heard that they were going to leave soon, so many came to say their farewells. Alex greeted them all and wished them all the best of luck. The women had become closer friends with many of the people around, including Firefang, so their goodbyes were a little longer and more personal.
Once they had said it all, they finally had the chance to walk away.
They soon left the South End Marker far behind them and went in search of more people and places around the secret realm.
