Chapter 3768: Ronron’s Challenge
Ronron’s stars dwindled at a steady rate as well, and within just 2 years, she was close to being completely without them. After a challenge where she had to fight against someone with only artifacts and weapons and nothing else, she had ended up losing one more star.
"That makes it 13," she said as she landed next to Alex after the battle. "At this rate, we’re probably going to have to leave this place tomorrow or the day after tomorrow."
Alex thought so as well. "Then we’ll leave this place tomorrow," he told her.
Ronron didn’t particularly like how nonchalant he was being about it all.
"You have so many stars, over 900 thousand of them. Why do you want to leave so early? There are still over 20 years remaining."
Alex shrugged. "What reason do I really have to stay here? I only came here for you, so I might as well leave at this point."
Ronron didn’t quite like that. "I think you should stay. Take part in the secret realm and enjoy your time here. All you’ve done is look after us all this time. So for the next 20 years, you should stay here for yourself."
Alex gave a light nod. "I will think about it."
"Don’t think about it. Just do it," Ronron said. "Here, how about this? Since you gave us so many challenges throughout the past decades to help us get stronger, I’ve been thinking of a challenge for you as well."
Alex looked toward her. "Go on. I’m interested now."
"Your challenge is that you have to gather 5000 stars in total," Ronron said.
Alex paused for a moment, narrowing his eyes. "Only 5000? That doesn’t sound right. What’s the catch here?" he asked. "Am I to do it entirely with my Intent or what?"
Ronron gave a slightly surprised look. "That wasn’t what I had in mind, but that’s not bad either."
"Oh! Then what is it?"
"It’s this. You have to collect 5000 stars, but the stars only count if the people you are collecting from call you the Sun God first."
Alex blinked for a moment, very much taken aback by Ronron’s words. "You want me to win against others and ask them to call me the Sun God?"
"Kind of, yes. You can introduce yourself as such, or force them to call you that. Whatever the case, so long as you earn 5000 stars and they call you the Sun God, you can finally leave this place," Ronron said.
Alex considered her words. "I’ll think about it," he said.
"Think about it fast," Ronron said. "I won’t be here for long, after all. And while you’re at it, you might as well try and earn the most amount of stars in the entire place. Make your name here, you know."
Alex did think about it, just as he promised. And the more he thought about it, the more he realized that it might actually be a good idea.
For a long time now, the concept of having to hide the fact that he was the Sun God had been contradicted by the requirement for a Half-God to be known by others as that very god. For many years, he hadn’t been able to think of much on what he could do.
However, now that he gave it some thought, he didn’t see any negatives to announcing himself as the Sun God.
The only negative was the fact that the Fire God would know about him and come for him, but at this point, the Fire God’s arrival was more of an inevitability, so he might as well not hold back at all.
"Alright, I’ll do it. 5000 people will lose to me and call me a god," Alex said. "And God, are they going to think I’m being pretentious with it."
Ronron could only laugh.
By the time night fell, Ronron had to fight twice more. But none of those people challenged Alex at all. Unlike early on, people were extremely wary of challenging others, mostly because the news that one could increase the bet during the challenge had long since spread.
If Alex were to suddenly raise the number of stars, there was a high chance they would lose. So, as soon as they won against Ronron, they left.
"5000 people is going to be difficult if they keep leaving like this," Alex told Ronron.
"Not really," Ronron said. "You just have to be the one to challenge others."
No one challenged Ronron overnight, and when the next day started, Ronron went about the area in search of others to get her stars from. As she did, she came across two travelers. Her eyes widened slightly, and she let out a short gasp upon seeing the other people.
She turned toward Alex. "Father, it’s them."
Alex had noticed them as well.
The people who came wore the robes of the Han family. Even from a distance, Alex recognized the two as the people he had once been in a trial with. It was the trial when he had first met someone who could’ve been a Sentinel.
It was Han Zhaofeng and the woman who had beaten Alex in the suppression formation. Now, he was certain she was in fact a Sentinel.
"She’s in the Divine realm, right, Father?" Ronron asked.
Alex nodded. In fact, he could already sense her Divine sense surrounding them. That woman had noticed them long before they had even noticed her. If she wasn’t a Divinity, he wouldn’t know who was.
Alex’s interest in the woman had vanished as soon as he learned she wasn’t anything unique and only just a hidden Divinity.
In fact, looking at her now, he could actually tell that she was much weaker than most of the other Sentinels he had seen. She was weak enough that should there be a serious battle, Alex had ways to become strong enough to defeat her.
’Well, she wouldn’t need to be stronger than that, I suppose,’ he thought.
Han Zhaofeng’s eyes turned toward them before they even reached each other, and once they were close enough, he immediately pinpointed Ronron and challenged her.
