Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3769: Qi-less Battle

Chapter 3769: Qi-less Battle

Ronron hadn’t expected to be challenged, but only because someone challenged got the opportunity to set the rules of the trial.

As someone who could teleport, she gave the most obvious test she could. They started in one location and had to arrive at the next location as quickly as possible. That was enough for Ronron to get a star. But only if the other person chose to accept the challenge.

Han Zhaofeng didn’t.

"We’ll be changing it," he told Ronron.

The man was confident in himself enough to risk betting a lot of stars for it. Ronron didn’t know how many more stars he had bet. Only the man did. But considering that she was nearly out, he had to have realized that if she won this somehow, he would have to give her his entire collection of stars.

Ronron was weirdly excited about it, as always. And she grew even more excited when she heard the random challenge that was set between the two of them.

They would be fighting a Qi-less battle.

With her body cultivation base at the Immortal Transcendent realm, it was very unlikely that she would lose to someone who wasn’t allowed to use his Qi. That should very much mean that the person couldn’t even use their Qi to reinforce their body.

Ronron looked at the man. "Before we start, may I ask for a clarification on something regarding your clan?" she asked.

Han Zhaofeng appeared serious in the way he looked at her for a brief moment before nodding. "Ask what you want to know."

"Is it true you guys are body cultivators?" she asked.

"Not all of us," Han Zhaofeng answered. "At least, I for one am not."

Ronron had simply been curious at first, but the man’s truthful answer made her happier than she ought to have been.

"You’re not?" she asked, unable to hide her grin. She got into a fighting stance. "Alright, let us begin then."

Han Zhaofeng reached out to the side, and something flew out of his Soul Space. It landed on his palm, immediately extending upward and downward, stopping only when it struck the ground.

Ronron stared at what the man had taken out.

A red and gold metallic staff.

When the staff began glowing with outlines of white, Ronron understood she was going to lose one more star.

"How could I have been so stupid?" she asked herself. "Just because we’re not using Qi doesn’t mean there aren’t other methods."

Han Zhaofeng was showing the alternative method, which was to use his weapon. While one could argue that weapon Qi was also Qi, if he kept it to just Staff Intent, it wouldn’t violate the premise of the fight, while at the same time, allowing him strength that Ronron just couldn’t produce.

In just 3 exchanges, Ronron gave up. It was clear that she couldn’t win this one.

After defeating Ronron, Han Zhaofeng turned toward Alex. However, before he could challenge him, the woman called out.

"Zhaofeng, come here."

The young man stopped and quickly walked back to where the woman was.

Ronron returned to her father with a dejected look on her face. "I thought I could win, but I ended up failing in the end."

"That’s fine. You did well enough," Alex said, his eyes focused on the woman and the young man. The difference in their cultivation bases, especially because Zhaofeng was close to becoming a Divinity as well, wasn’t low at all. However, the young man appeared very respectful of the woman. Almost like she was an important aunt in the family.

"Do you have any idea who that woman could be?" Alex asked while watching the woman whisper something into the young man’s ears. He couldn’t hear anything at all, but he saw the young man’s face change suddenly.

Ronron turned around and shrugged. "I don’t know. I don’t know much about the members of the Han family except for the people we got to meet today. And well, one more, but I don’t think it’s fair to count them as part of the family, even though they very much are."

Alex turned. "Who are you talking about?" he asked.

"It’s—"

Both Ronron and Alex’s eyes immediately focused as they sensed something in their surroundings. The sky went black all of a sudden, with nothing being visible at all. Even Alex couldn’t see a single pinprick of light in the blackness that covered them.

It wasn’t just the light that had gone, but even his senses were covered.

Alex grabbed Ronron and pulled her closer, keeping her safe. It wasn’t clear if this was someone’s malevolent doing, but just in case it was, he had to defend her.

The thought of attacking the black barrier came to Alex just moments before he heard a voice speak inside the giant blackness.

"I’m sure you were expecting this," the voice said. "But expectations hardly matter when real life is a mess all on its own."

Alex listened to the voice, slightly confused. Was he expecting this? What had he or Ronron done to have this happen to them? Who was this man exactly?

"You can’t get away from us this easily. Not when you’ve killed one of our own," another new voice said.

Alex’s eyes held genuine confusion at this point. Just who could it be?

"I did," Zhaofeng answered silently. "So what?"

Alex turned in the direction where the young man had to have been. Something about the entire exchange made him see everything in a new light. The darkness placed here wasn’t a random thing but a dedicated event by someone who wanted revenge.

And the target was none other than Han Zhaofeng.

"Laugh all you want," a voice in the darkness said. "Because soon, we will be silencing you, as that is what you deserve for killing our core disciple."

Ronron pulled on Alex’s robe the moment she heard that. "Father, we need to be careful here on out."

Alex turned to her in the darkness. "You know who they are?"

Ronron nodded before answering. "Yes. These are people from the Silent Night Hall."
