Chapter 3797: Something Needed
Alex wanted to get back to cultivating as quickly as he could, but even he understood that it wasn’t feasible in the way he hoped.
Considering just how much he would have to cultivate to be ready for when the Fire God finally learned about him and visited, he simply did not have that sort of time. Closed cultivation was required, but if he wanted to spend any amount of time with the Artifact God and learn from her as well, then he couldn’t fully invest himself into closed cultivation either.
So, the dilemma caused him no small amount of confusion.
Just what could he do? He needed to cultivate for a long time, but he had to do it in the limited time he had. That was when Alex thought to make use of the opportunity that everyone else but him had been using for such a long time now.
He needed to cultivate in accelerated time as well.
Alex found his aunt and told her what it was he wanted.
"Aunt Liz, can you help use your Time Dao to help me cultivate?" he asked her. "I need to be able to break through the next few realms as quickly as I can."
Liz was happy to help.
"I will do what I can. How long are we talking about?" she asked.
"I’m not sure," Alex said. "Maybe a couple dozen years. Maybe nearly a century? Only time will tell, really."
Liz hesitated slightly. "That’s... that’s not possible, I’m afraid."
Alex narrowed his eyes. "Why not?" he asked. "I thought you could do it easily."
"I can do it if it’s for a short period of time, but for years and years, it will be hard," she said. "It will also mean that I will need time to rest and cultivate for myself, which isn’t going to work for you."
Alex frowned. That was the only thing he could think of though. What else could he do?
"How about I ask my master instead?" Liz said. "He would be much better at this than I am anyway."
Alex’s eyes widened slightly. "Do you think the Divination God would help me?" he asked.
Liz shrugged. "Wouldn’t hurt to ask."
Alex nodded. "Yeah, we should at least try to ask. Can you do that for me?"
"Of course," Liz said. "Just cultivate for a while on your own. I’ll get the answer back for you."
Liz contacted her master, although she couldn’t go meet him right away. It wasn’t until a few days later that she could finally contact him and get the answer back.
"How was it?" Alex asked with both worry and expectation in his voice. "What did he say?"
"Well, we have both good news and bad news," she said.
Alex narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"
"Good news is, he is willing to help you. Bad news is, he doesn’t really have the time to sit around for a century, since there are gods coming over here every few years going forward," Liz said.
Alex frowned. "I was hoping it could be a little more permanent, but I should accept whatever I’m given, right?"
Liz nodded. "Though he said something about that. He mentioned that there is a much better method out there that he can help you with. It will likely not be as effective as him helping you directly, especially since he can practically make time come to a stop. But it can be useful."
Alex grew a little curious. "What is it that he thinks I should do?"
"Master said that you need to prepare an environment where time is already being slowed down for you," she said. "It can be weak, but it just needs to exist."
"Okay..." Alex said, not really understanding what that would do.
"Master would then come afterward and do something to make it work faster on its own," she said. "It will apparently work even if both he and I are absent, so that might be the way to go."
Listening to Liz’s words, Alex thought for a bit as he decided that perhaps that was the way to go. But then, where was he supposed to find such an artifact?
"The Artifact God is busy as far as I can tell. It will take a long time before she comes out of her closed cultivation. I could ask her to help make some sort of artifact, but then that would take some more time as well. Time I do not have."
Liz raised her hand as she remembered more. "It doesn’t have to be an artifact. It’s more so about the environment, so formations should work too. We can do that, right?"
Alex narrowed his eyes. "Formations?"
Liz nodded.
Alex nodded as well. "Yes. We can do that."
He knew exactly who he needed for that. Unfortunately, Battlesage was still roaming the Sky God’s Realm after leaving the Red Heaven Realm, so it would take some time for him to come over as well.
Alex first tried to work with his mother and Whisker since they had both learned from the old man, but neither of them had the knowledge and practice that man had. Even if they could make what Alex wanted, it wouldn’t be fast enough.
So, the old man himself needed to be called.
Alex contacted the old man and told him that he was needed. The old man accepted his request and told Alex that he would be coming over soon. Soon could end up meaning nearly a month or more, though the old man promised that he would have the idea ready by the time he was back, so the time wouldn’t be wasted.
Alex was happy with that.
Alex cultivated slowly throughout the rest of the month without ever entering closed cultivation. He didn’t make much improvement at all, not that he intended to.
During this time, his father and Long Huan returned as well. They came back from another tournament.
