Chapter 3805: A Request

Alex was a little surprised to learn what he learned about the Flood Dragon.

He would have to check the other two Primordial corpses he had as well, but if this was true of all of the Primordials, then was the thing that one had to do to focus on a single element instead of all 7? Was he perhaps making a mistake?

He wasn’t sure if he wanted to do that. In the first place, with the God realm impossible to reach in this day and age, there was no point for him to even try and get an answer to this question of his.

The Artifact God nodded slowly to the side and turned toward Alex. "Your incredible understanding of Alchemy may just end up helping you with artifacts as well. Why don’t you go ahead and continue learning for a bit?"

Alex nodded and returned to the corner.

The blue scale remained in his mind for some time, but quickly, he forgot about it as he continuously trained with hundreds of different materials that the Artifact God had provided him with.

Over the next week and a half, Alex continued learning everything he could and gained a decent understanding of how all the materials and their properties worked. He needed to learn how their interactions worked as well, but that would be at a later date.

For now, only learning this was enough.

The Artifact God seemed to finally be done with understanding the scale, at which point she sat next to it in deep meditation. Alex didn’t have to wonder what she was doing. Through Godslayer’s memories, he could tell that she was doing something similar to what he did for pill simulations in his mind, where he mixed and matched various ingredients to see what sort of return they produced.

The Artifact God was no doubt attempting to find the right type of materials that she could work with to turn this scale into a proper artifact.

Alex continued on his task for another week or two while watching the woman meditate the entire time. He had come to an end with his lessons, and even then she was entirely focused. Finally, after a few more days, she opened her eyes.

"How did it go?" Alex asked. "Do you know what you are going to make?"

She nodded. "I have a general idea, but I do not have the right ingredients. I will need to go and see if someone has them, or if I can buy them from somewhere."

Alex grew interested. "What did you decide to make?"

"A shield," she answered. "After considering everything, I decided that the best thing I could make here was a shield."

She turned around and let her fingers run over the surface of the scale. "With how much water energy is packed in this thing, I could make use of the Softness Dao as well as the Refraction Dao to greatly enhance the defensive aspect of the shield, easily making it one of the best defensive weapons out there. Although, I am curious who will use it. It makes sense for someone with Water affinity to use it, but I don’t think I know of anyone besides the Winter God and the Ocean God."

"I will use it," Alex said almost immediately. He had actually planned to give it to his mother, or maybe Hannah, who also had a Water root, but he didn’t think the Artifact God would be happy about giving such an incredible treasure to just anyone.

So he decided to name himself for now.

"You?" she asked. "Aren’t you the Sun God? The god of Yang and Fire?"

"For now, yes," Alex said. "Who knows what I will be in the future. Maybe this scale will help me keep that title even should the Fire God come and fight me."

The Artifact God couldn’t help but laugh a little before her laughter vanished. "Are you serious?"

Alex nodded. "I obviously don’t want to die."

"Not that," she said. "If you’re ever going to fight the Fire God, especially for a duel to determine who gets to keep the title, you will be fighting entirely with your flames and fire techniques. You won’t be allowed to use any artifacts unless they add to your fire abilities."

Alex frowned. "So I can’t use this defensive shield if it gets made in time?" he asked.

"No," the Artifact God said. "And worse, he will get to use his."

Alex’s eyes widened slightly. "Shit! The crown."

Godslayer’s one and only artifact he had made with the Nine-Headed Phoenix’s body part, the Fire God’s crown, was an artifact that the current Fire God had. So he would be free to use it, while Alex would have nothing.

"That sucks, unless I can get you to make something else soon," Alex said as he thought out loud.

"I’m not looking to be commissioned right now," the Artifact God said.

"Not a commission," Alex said. "A request."

"I am not making anything," she said.

Alex blinked. "Even if I told you that you would be working with the corpse of the Three-Legged Crow?" he asked.

It didn’t take even half a second for the woman’s expression to change from a lack of enthusiasm to pure surprise and disbelief. "You have something of the Three-Legged Crow? A feather? Bones? What?"

Alex shook his head slightly. "Not parts. I have the entire thing."

The woman remained silent for several seconds, as that took much longer for her to understand. "You have the entirety of the Three-Legged Crow’s corpse?"

Alex nodded. "It is one of the greatest things I own at the moment. The complete body of a Primordial. Tell me, Artifact God, what could you make from the entirety of a Primordial?"

Alex didn’t even have to wait now. He could see the gears turning inside the woman’s head. She could already think of all the artifacts she could make from a single corpse.

And Alex, for one, could not wait to see what she could create.
