Chapter 3807: A Formal Invite
Alex and Bladedance arrived at the Sky God’s palace and met her inside the hall. She was already seated, waiting for them to arrive, so she simply gestured for them to sit.
"Has anyone told you what your disciple has done yet?" the Sky God asked.
Bladedance narrowed her eyes slightly, side-eyeing Alex with a curious look. "What did he do now?"
Alex was quite curious himself. Was this about working under the Artifact God?
"He defeated a Divine realm cultivator in a battle inside of the secret realm," she said. "The Luo family, whose Divinity he beat up, are asking to meet him."
Alex blinked in surprise. "Oh. Right, that was a while ago."
"It wasn’t even 2 years ago," the Sky God said.
That took Alex by more surprise than everything else the Sky God could have said in that moment.
"Right..."
He had cultivated for over 20 years inside of the formation, so to him, it felt like a long time had passed.
Bladedance raised an eyebrow for a moment. "That’s the first I’m hearing of it. But... considering what he did to your soldier back in the Sacred Lotus Dominion, I am not so surprised."
"I wouldn’t have been surprised either if it were not for the fact that he had apparently not done anything else besides just use a sword," she said. "As far as I’m aware, during the last time, there were many beasts of blood involved, and he himself had grown wings or something. The reports aren’t very clear."
Bladedance did find that a little surprising. "Was he weak?" she asked.
Alex shrugged. "I would say I won more so because of him underestimating me."
"The fight lasted nearly 10 minutes," the Sky God said. "I don’t think he underestimated you after the first few exchanges. Not to mention, I heard he used his Creation from the start."
Alex nodded. "I did eat a pill to consolidate my spiritual energy and make it stronger. I really mostly won because of that."
"And where did you get the power for the final attack?" the Sky God asked. "I hear it had the strength of a Divine Manifestation realm cultivator."
Alex was taken aback. "Was it?"
"I don’t know. You tell me."
"I don’t know either," Alex said. "I was poisoned, but my body can break down poison into Qi. Since it was a Divine poison, it was too much energy for me, and I had to concentrate it as much as I could before throwing it out. I couldn’t even use a technique."
Both Bladedance and the Sky God held varying levels of intrigue in their looks.
"I never taught you how to do that," Bladedance said.
"No one did," Alex said. "Well, I suppose Senior Yang did."
He turned toward the Sky God. "He told me how he formed Immortal and Divine spirit stones while in the lower realm, and I simply applied that logic to the Qi."
The Sky God let out a sigh as she shook her head in defeat. "That sounds a lot easier than it really is. Commanding Qi, especially Qi that you haven’t refined, is impossibly difficult, and yet..."
She didn’t even bother finishing the sentence.
Alex only smiled a little, saying nothing.
Bladedance shook her head, not even that surprised anymore. "Anyway, when are the baldies coming?"
The Sky God gave a sharp look before saying, "The members of the Nine Yang Court have been notified of your arrival. They should be coming any minute now. Before they come, however, I have something I need to discuss with you."
She turned toward Alex. "I suppose there has been an unspoken decision made in regards to your presence during this peace meeting with the Demons. But in case you weren’t entirely certain yet, I would like to formally invite you to this meeting."
Alex grew more serious. "Really?"
"Yes. They have a Moon Goddess of their own, so we require a Sun God of our own. You are also acquainted with the Moon Goddess, so that should help us a lot more in the conversation," she said.
Alex nodded vigorously. "I will absolutely go, Senior. Do you know when it will be happening?"
The Sky God shook her head. "I can’t be entirely sure, but it should take less than 2 centuries," she said.
"2 centuries?" Alex asked with a rather surprised look. "I thought it would be sooner."
"We hoped it would, but with the Godkiller’s Tomb coming to an end in a little over a decade, many of the gods will finally start leaving. After that, it will be a few decades before they come. Then we will have the meeting to decide on what to do, and then we’ll send an envoy to set up the time for the actual meeting. That should take a couple of decades on its own. And so, at the earliest, it will take a century."
Alex listened to her words and nodded slowly. He hadn’t realized just how much time it all took. A single meeting between gods took centuries to happen.
To gods, it was no different from a few days passing, so it made sense that they weren’t too stressed about all the years that would pass.
"200 years," Alex said slowly, musing to himself.
"Could just be 100," the Sky God repeated. "Could be less if the gods come faster."
Alex nodded. "There are shortcuts with the Voidgates, right?"
The Sky God nodded with a surprised look on her face. She hadn’t thought he would know of them.
Alex thought for a moment longer before slowly nodding to himself. He wanted to keep his promise to the Blue Silk Sect, so even if things went on for too long, he would be able to make it in time to return to the Myriad Spirit Realm.
"That works for me," he said in the end.
The Sky God and Bladedance’s expressions changed at the exact same moment. And then, Alex heard the footsteps of the people who entered.
The Nine Yang Court was there.
