Chapter 3863: Can’t Leave

Alex found it incredibly easy to recognize the answer. He pointed at the crystal in less than 5 minutes before looking up at the Artifact God.

The woman showed a genuine look of surprise.

"That was fast."

"It was easy," Alex said.

"You’re correct," she said, taking back the crystals. She brought out a piece of glass and a metal ore next. "What about this?"

She gave him a couple more choices.

It took a slightly longer time with this one, but Alex easily picked the correct one this time too. The Artifact God couldn’t help but be surprised.

After a few more tests, she was certain that Alex had in fact mastered it all.

"It hasn’t even been 2 months," she said, her eyes wide in shock. "How did you do it?"

"I just did," Alex said, not knowing what else to say. "It’s all thanks to my Alchemy knowledge."

"I suppose it is," she said. "Well, you’ve passed, then."

Alex smiled. "Are we moving on to the next test, then?" he asked.

"Well, the next lesson would be to make actual artifacts, but we will have to push that for later," she said. "I need time to convert all of these into threads. Lots and lots of time."

Alex frowned. "How long?" he asked.

"A few decades at least. I need to work at it properly. Despite the Reduction aura, it’s still a difficult material to manipulate," she said.

Alex wasn’t sure if he could accept that. "By that time, the council would have ended, wouldn’t it?" he asked. "The Fire God will have come, and I will have to fight him."

The Artifact God nodded along. "I didn’t say I was going to do it outside," she said. "I’ll do it inside your Soul Space. I’ll be using the time there. So only a year should pass for you, right?"

Alex blinked. "Oh. Would you not need to use your Qi?" he asked.

"If I did, I could do it in two decades, but without it, it will take a few more. But that’s fine since it will be inside your Soul Space," she said.

Alex nodded. "If you’re just going to exert physical strength, then I should be more or less fine. There will be a slight increase in the mental duress I will feel, but that is better than going into a fight with the Fire God without the robe."

The Artifact God nodded. "Yeah, so let’s not waste any time. Send me in."

Alex nodded and took her into his Soul Space. The Artifact God arrived in the world of fog and sighed a little. "Where’s the medallion? Give it to me already."

Alex was about to, but he paused. "Actually, I don’t think you’ll need it, senior."

Shen Yaojia raised an eyebrow. "Why?" she asked.

"Because I’m going to close the formation," he explained.

"Huh? Why would you?" she asked. "Don’t you want me to complete this faster?"

"I do, but I also need to cultivate. For that, I need to shut this down," Alex said. "Don’t worry. Instead of a year, it will take you 5 at best. That should be okay, right?"

The Artifact God thought for a moment and nodded. "That’s fine with me if it’s fine with you," she said.

Alex smiled. "Thank you. I’ll keep it active for now. Once I start cultivating, the fog should lift."

"Do it soon."

Alex left the workshop afterward and found Sunflare.

"Are we returning to your courtyard?" the bald Celestial asked.

"Not yet," Alex answered. "I need to go to the market and buy a few things. You will be accompanying me, right, senior?"

"Of course," Sunflare said. "Let’s go."

Alex made his way out of the Sky God’s palace, but before he could leave, he was stopped at the gates.

"I’m sorry, young brother. But we’re under strict orders not to let you leave," one of the soldiers there said.

"Huh?" Alex looked at the guards. "Why can’t I leave?"

"We do not know. We are just following orders," the guards said.

Alex frowned.

Sunflare stepped up. "What if I want to take him outside?" he asked.

The guards trembled slightly before the Celestial, but they held their ground. "I’m sorry, senior. You are free to leave, but he must stay. Even if you take him away from here, no one will activate the teleportation formation if he is on it."

"Why not?" Sunflare asked.

"We do not know, senior," the guards answered despite their fear.

"Senior, that’s fine," Alex said, pulling Sunflare back. He frowned slightly, realizing that he was being kept a prisoner here.

There was only one person who could get these people to stop him from leaving, so Alex contacted her right away.

"Sky God," Alex sent a message directly. "I am being told that I cannot leave the premises. May I ask why that is the case?"

The answer came a while later. "It is for your own safety," she answered. "With more Gods arriving, I cannot let you leave now. There is a danger of the Storm God kidnapping you or worse. So, until the Gods are all here and we can account for them, you must stay hidden for your own safety."

Alex frowned slightly. It felt like more than just safety, but he couldn’t exactly tell that to the Sky God.

"I needed to buy some treasures for cultivating. Could you have someone help me with that?" he asked.

"I can send some treasures with Ronron to aid you in your cultivation. That much I can help you with," she answered.

Alex sighed in relief. "Thank you."

He turned toward Sunflare. "Let us return to the courtyard, senior. It seems I won’t be leaving for now."

Sunflare hardly minded whatever was happening. He simply followed Alex back to the courtyard.

Alex waited for half a day before Ronron returned to the courtyard as well and gave him the materials. The moment Alex saw what he received, he frowned.

"This isn’t nearly enough."
