Chapter 3864: Requesting Resources
The Sky God had no idea just how fast Alex could cultivate and how quickly he could take Qi from the surroundings to refine it inside his body. So, from that perspective, it made sense for her to give him what she did.
For a regular cultivator, what she had given might have helped them cultivate for over 50 years easily. Perhaps even a century. For Alex, it would last maybe 20 years at best, which, when he cultivated inside the formation, was just a single year.
He would definitely need a lot more of this if he wanted to cultivate for a couple of years.
Since the Artifact God was already inside his Soul Space, he asked her for some help. The Artifact God did have some, which she was willing to give him in exchange for some more feathers of the Three-Legged Crow.
After considering it for a bit, he accepted it. And still, it wasn’t enough.
The Artifact God held materials that didn’t necessarily hold a lot of energy. The materials she had were treasures, but they couldn’t be used in the same way Alex wanted to use them. She did have some poison that he could use for some time longer, but that would add a couple of years to his cultivation session at best.
Alex frowned once again, realizing 2 years of ingredients wasn’t something he should go into closed cultivation with. He wondered who else would be willing to help him, but he couldn’t think of many people who would have what he wanted.
In fact, going through every possible name in his head, Alex landed on one single option. Now, he could only hope that option was available.
The next morning, Alex arrived at the courtyard where Whitesong, the Alchemy God, was staying.
The Alchemy God wasn’t surprised to see him come, but it wasn’t as though he had fully expected it either. It just made sense for Alex to come meet him again, given how their talk had gone.
"Are you here to tell me about what you’ve received from the inheritance?" the Alchemy God asked.
Alex blinked. "Oh, I’m afraid not," he said. "I’ve come for something else, actually."
The Alchemy God raised an eyebrow. "I see. Then, can I assume that you’re here for your reward?"
"My reward?" Alex narrowed his eyes. "Do you perhaps mean my rewards for winning the tournament? It’s been so long that I put that thought out of my mind."
"I am a man of my word. You still have yet to make use of your two rewards, both of which I’m willing to provide to you right now," he said.
Alex nodded slowly. "One of my rewards was that I get to use the Book of Endless Recipes, wasn’t it?"
"That is correct," the Alchemy God said. "You can make use of it for an entire decade right now should you choose to use it."
Alex was tempted, very much so. However, it just didn’t make sense for him to take the artifact right now. He didn’t have the time to use it the way he wanted to.
"I’m sorry, but that will have to wait for later. I currently do not have the opportunity to treat it the way it deserves to be treated," Alex said.
The Alchemy God gave him a long look before slowly nodding. "I see. You must be in a lot of stressful situations at the moment. I’ve heard about your potential bout with the Fire God coming up. Do not worry. I’ll try to put in a good word. That way, should the fight even happen, he will not kill you."
Alex could only give a faint smile and thank the man for it. That no doubt came from good intent, considering no one in their right mind was expecting Alex to win. Alex himself didn’t expect to win either. His only hope was to survive.
However, even with his thoughts being on survival, he was going to do whatever he could not to lose. He might not be a match for a Celestial, but that did not mean he was any less of a God.
"Then are you here to make use of your other reward?" the Alchemy God asked. "You can wish for whatever you want. Should it be within my power, I shall deliver it to you."
Alex smiled slightly. After so long, he had put this reward out of his mind as well. But that didn’t mean that he had no idea what he wanted. In fact, he even thought of speaking his demand right away.
But it was better if he waited. That was always the better choice here.
Alex shook his head in the end. "While I do appreciate you trying to remind me of the rewards, senior, I unfortunately cannot make use of either of those at the moment," he said. "The thing is, I need cultivation treasures. I am about to enter a closed cultivation session for many years, and I do not have the resources for it. I would buy them outside, but the Sky God has asked that I not leave the palace. So I am forced to resort to trading with anyone who might have some."
The Alchemy God raised an eyebrow.
"You came all this way to ask for some treasures?"
"Not ask. Trade. I would rather not owe someone if I can afford it," Alex said.
Whitesong raised an eyebrow. "I have nothing to trade with you in that case. There is nothing you can give me that I couldn’t get myself."
Alex thought of telling the man just how wrong he was, but decided against it at the last moment. "It sounds like you wish for me to owe you, senior."
"In a way, yes," the Alchemy God said.
Alex took a deep breath. "I am willing to hear it, at least," he said. "Please go ahead."
The Alchemy God smiled. "I need nothing but a promise. Should the war start, I need you by my side so we may make pills together to save our people."
