Chapter 3895: Crimsonstar’s Demand

Chapter 3895: Crimsonstar’s Demand

Alex sighed in relief as he watched the Mind God leave. There was no chance that he was ever going to engage in a private chat with someone who could read him like a book. It was one thing if he could only distinguish truth from lies based on what a person said.

But what if, secretly, he could also distinguish them based on how the person reacted as well? He was the Mind God. It wouldn’t be too far of a jump to consider him able to read minds, in a way.

Alex was more than happy to refuse this person.

As he let out a sigh, the final person among that group, the Blood God, walked up to him. Instead of leaving, she stopped before him.

Alex waited for her to speak, but the woman chose to remain silent for a long few seconds, slowly looking over his body as if she had his permission.

"Senior?" Alex called out. "What are you doing?"

"Your Blood aura," she said in a soft voice. "How is it so strong?"

Alex kept an expressionless face. It wasn’t too far-fetched to imagine that the Blood God could tell just how strong his Blood aura was. In fact, it would’ve been more surprising if she didn’t notice it.

"I got lucky," he answered in the end.

"Lucky how?" the woman asked. "Could you tell me?"

"Um, I would rather not go into detail on how my Blood aura became this strong," he said. "Everyone has their own secrets, senior, and I would appreciate it if you would allow me to keep mine."

The Blood God smiled, her ruby-red lips parting to show a row of rather sharp, beast-like teeth that took Alex by surprise.

"Secret, huh?" she asked as a suppressed giggle escaped her throat. "Let me guess. This secret wouldn’t happen to be the Blood God’s Manual, would it?"

Alex held his expression the same throughout. "What is the Blood God’s Manual?"

"Oh, it’s an interesting book that belongs to the previous Blood God. It’s his treasure, you see. There are a bunch of things it allows you to do, but most of them aren’t that important. The most important one is that it allows the owner to use their blood to create beasts out of beast cores."

"Beasts out of beast cores?" Alex asked. "That’s a strange ability."

"It is," the woman said, getting slightly excited. "And guess where these Blood Beasts were last seen?"

Alex shrugged. "I wouldn’t know."

"Of course you do," she said. "They appeared in the Sacred Lotus Dominion. And guess who was fighting there when they appeared?"

Alex shrugged. "Your guess is as good as mine."

"Of course it is," she said. "Because for you, it’s not a guess at all, is it?"

Alex held a strange look. "Sounds like you’re accusing me of something, senior. I would appreciate it if you came out and said it openly."

"Fine." The woman’s smile vanished. "Give me the Blood God’s Manual. I know you have it. There’s no point in playing these games."

"Let’s assume I do have it for a second, senior," Alex said. "What if I don’t want to give it to you?"

"Well, then there will be consequences, of course," the Blood God said.

"Hmm," Bladedance let out a small sound from the side. "Newheaven, did you hear someone say something just now? It was a strange sound that shouldn’t exist here. I don’t know what it was, but I know damn sure it was not a threat against my disciple."

Her eyes turned toward the Blood God.

The Blood God’s face froze for a second, but she dared not look back.

"Give me my book."

Alex waited for a moment and brought the Blood God’s Manual out. "Is this what you’re asking for?"

The Blood God’s eyes widened. She desired the book so much that she reached out for it immediately. Before she could take it, however, he pulled it back.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

Alex flipped open the front cover and looked inside. "Just checking something. You claim that this is your book, but I don’t see your name in it, senior. Are you sure this belongs to you?"

"That’s my book. It belonged to my predecessor, so it belongs to me," she said.

"You say that, but from what I remember reading, the previous Blood God did not have a disciple. You have no relation to him, do you?" he asked. "This book was never with you. Before you, it was with a Blood Sage. And he didn’t have any relation to you either. You may demand it, but the only way you’re going to get this book is by taking it by force. You have no other choice."

The Blood aura around Crimsonstar began to increase while a subtle red aura took over the entire room.

The air smelled like iron.

"So you do not wish to give that book to me," Crimsonstar said. "That means you wish to make an enemy out of me."

Alex shrugged. "I would be happy if you didn’t consider me an enemy, senior. But if you really want to, go right ahead. But I must warn you, it will take some time for you to get to me. I have several other Gods who want to kill me before you do."

The Blood God couldn’t help but laugh at that. "Well, you talk big. But we’ll see how many more jokes you can crack two decades later," she said. "I look forward to your duel now."

Alex smiled. "Good day, senior."

The Blood God walked past him, hitting him with her shoulder as she left.

Alex watched her walk out of the palace before letting out a small sigh. "Did I go too far?"

"A little," Bladedance said. "But I’m not mad at how you handled it. Stern words are needed sometimes."

Alex nodded and then turned to the Sky God before remembering something.

"I’m sorry, senior, but it seems your plan of luring her to your side will no longer work."
