Chapter 3896: A Strange Choice

Chapter 3896: A Strange Choice

The Sky God had mentioned to Alex a while ago that the Blood God was on the fence about how she viewed the upcoming war. She didn’t look forward to it as much as the others, but she wasn’t completely against it either. She was on the fence, though very much leaning toward the side of war.

So, the Sky God wanted to buy her out using the Blood God’s Manual. Even though the Manual itself had never belonged to her or the Blood Cult, they viewed it as a sacred artifact of their cult since it came from the predecessor of their God, the previous Blood God.

The two Blood Gods had no connection at all. It was one formed solely based on them sharing the same name. And yet, they demanded the Manual be returned to them, as though it belonged to them.

The Sky God had held back until now, but with more and more people joining the idea of bringing on a new war, the Sky God was ready to buy at least one of them over to her side.

Unfortunately, Alex’s actions had sealed that fate just now. With him refusing to hand back the Blood God’s Manual, unless the Sky God herself took it forcefully from Alex and handed it to Crimsonstar, her vote on the upcoming war had already been cast.

The decision was made, and it was not in the Sky God’s favor.

The Sky God sat back on her couch, hands to her head, as a troubled look filled her face. She sighed deeply before looking up at Alex with some level of emotion on her face. Though, she quickly let that emotion vanish and leaned back on the couch.

"There was never a guarantee she would’ve accepted the offer anyway," she said with a disgruntled look.

She didn’t want to believe what she said, but at this point, the only way to not feel annoyed was to think just that.

"I, for one, am happy with how you dealt with the situation," Bladedance said, appearing quite proud. "You give these people an inch, and they’ll take a mile. It’s better to nip it all in the bud. Better to gain their animosity than be victims of their greed."

Alex smiled slightly, but he didn’t feel as good as his master seemed to. Adding another God to his list of enemies wasn’t the smartest thing he had done today, but considering everything else he had done, it wasn’t even third on the list of issues he had created for himself.

"Brother Sunflare, would you kindly leave us alone for a moment?" the Sky God asked. "We have much to discuss here."

Sunflare looked at the Sky God. "Is it something that I cannot be privy to?"

The Sky God’s eyes narrowed. "Do you care to join in the business of us Gods? If you want to, I’ll have to ask you to refer to us as such."

Sunflare let out a harrumph and turned toward Alex. "I’ll be waiting for you outside. I need to see my God as soon as I can."

Alex nodded. "Thank you for your help today, senior."

The Celestial waved his hand and walked away.

"What was that about?" the Sky God asked. "What’s wrong with the tree?"

"Nothing," Alex said. "Though he’s worried slightly that I might have done something to it when I made my sword. He thinks the tree is where all that Yang aura came from."

The Sky God’s eyes narrowed. "It really didn’t come from the tree, then?"

"No, it came from the Three-Legged Crow. We were telling the truth," Alex said. "Except not in how it was used."

"I see," the Sky God said. "So you did use the feathers."

"Well... not exactly," Alex said. "The Artifact God is using the feathers to make a robe for me. But for the sword, I had to use the Three-Legged Crow’s heart to provide the aura for my sword."

The Sky God’s eyes widened slightly. "The Primordial’s heart?" she asked.

Alex nodded.

The woman took a deep breath, as though preparing herself. "So you had more than just a few parts of the corpse."

Alex nodded. "I had the entire corpse. I still have nearly all of it, minus half the feathers and the heart."

The Sky God could hardly believe it. "That’s the third Primordial Bird that’s been converted into an Artifact," she said. "Would have been great if there was somehow one for the last bird as well."

She eyed Alex, as if waiting for him to magically bring up the corpse of the final bird.

"Well, I’m afraid the body of the Midnight Phoenix is truly gone forever. Along with the body of the Flying Raindragon. Nothing of them remains anymore," Alex said.

That was the truth in more ways than one. The bodies of those two beasts had been gone since long ago, but their beast cores had at least survived. However, now that Pearl and Scarlet had each converted one of those into their Creations, it was all completely gone.

"I assume you have the Roc’s armor," Alex said. "And the Fire God should have his crown. Funny, if I recall correctly, his crown was made from the heart of the Nine-Headed Phoenix. Though, I suppose it is a lot better than my own sword."

"For now," Bladedance added. "Just cultivate with the sword for some time and form a proper sword spirit. Then your sword too will become a proper Primordial Artifact."

Alex smiled. "I plan on doing just that."

The Sky God looked between the two of them and began going into the reason why she had asked Sunflare to leave.

"It was strange, wasn’t it?" she asked.

"What was?" Alex asked.

"The Fire God choosing to delay," she said. "It just doesn’t make any sense at all."

Alex frowned slightly. "It made sense to me. He just wants the biggest audience he can gather to witness when I lose."

The Sky God shook her head. "No, that’s way too simple. He’s planning something."
