Chapter 3921: Taunting
The clash of a Creation and a creation of Sword Intent was much more violent than Alex could have expected.
Both he and the Fire Sage were blasted backward, sent enough paces away that they were separated once more.
Alex looked at his cheek where the first arrow had grazed past, then at his shoulder where the arrow had cleanly pierced through.
Neither of those wounds was so bad that he had to stop.
All he really felt was pain, but pain could hardly stop him at all.
The Fire Sage held a pained look on her face, which was to be expected considering she had taken a direct hit to her Creation that was not defended in any way other than by the strength of the Creation itself, which wasn’t enough to block the damage from Alex’s attack.
Alex wasted no time and formed his Domain again, surrounding the Fire Sage.
At the same time, he spoke up.
"Come on. Try and see if you can win using a coward’s tactics," he said.
He lifted his arms to the sides, presenting an open chest.
"Do it. Riddle me with holes if you need to. We’ll see who will be standing at the end of it."
The Fire Sage did not react to his words, but she very much felt the shame of what she had done earlier, all just to fail at practically everything.
Her arrow had struck the target, but what had that done?
Nothing.
Here he was, humiliating her again.
And she did not like that.
The constant Sword Domain around her bow made her even more annoyed than she already was, to the point that she had to put it away once again.
The moment she did, Alex burst out laughing.
"Coward! This is you fighting in a weapons tournament? Hiding your weapon each time you have to confront me? If this is what everyone under the Fire God is like, then maybe I do not need to be so worried at all."
"Don’t you dare speak about my God."
Alex could see that his taunting was working.
If only she got angry enough to bring her bow back out, he could continue attacking.
"I will speak about your God all I want. You came to this battle, sent by your God. You had to bribe your way through. Is that how your God does his work? He can’t get anywhere on his own merit and has to bribe his way in? Or is it just you who does that and is a shame to everyone who understands the element of Fire?"
The woman smoldered with anger.
Alex scoffed out loud.
"You do not deserve to be a Fire Sage. You are far too big a cowa—"
"I’ll show you why I am the Fire Sage!"
Blazelight’s bow appeared in her hand again, only this time it glowed bright red.
An arrow formed within it, but instead of being a regular arrow made of Bow Qi, it was an arrow formed entirely of flames.
Alex blinked.
This was not the result he had been expecting at all.
It seemed he had pushed the woman a little too far.
Before he could say anything, the Fire Sage let go of her arrow.
And between the time she released it and the time it hit something, it was practically instantaneous.
A massive flame explosion erupted inside the arena, with enough strength that the entire barrier surrounding the arena wobbled and glowed with golden light.
In fact, one side of the barrier was completely blasted through, intense heat spilling outside and nearly reaching some of the audience members.
Thankfully, more defenses had been placed outside as a precaution, protecting the audience.
Everyone rose from their seats, trying to see what was happening.
Inside the hall, everyone watching was left staring at the screen with aghast expressions.
"Ironbrawn, your son!"
The others looked toward him, unsure of what to say or even think at that moment.
However, when they saw Graham, they were surprised.
There was no expression of shock or surprise on Graham’s face at all.
It was the calmness of a man who knew a truth that no one else did.
Only, Graham didn’t know any truths at all.
All he had was trust.
Trust that Alex would not let himself die like this.
And as long as he didn’t die, his son was as healthy as ever.
Inside the arena, Alex hid behind the referee.
He peeked out from behind him, looking at the state of the arena.
He really had pushed the woman further than he had intended.
’This bitch really wanted me dead,’ he thought.
Had he not decided to teleport away from the attack, he likely would have died just now.
It was possible enough of him could have survived for him to return to life, but given that it was an attack from a Fire Sage in the Divine Domain realm, he would rather not take that sort of risk.
The only logical choice at that point had been to teleport to the referee and hide behind him.
The man was strong enough anyway.
Instantly, many other referees arrived on top of the stage, immediately taking hold of the situation.
A few of them gathered around the Fire Sage, while a few gathered around Alex.
When the arena calmed down, the referee quickly took the stage and announced what everyone had likely been waiting for.
"Both participants have violated the fundamental rules against using any Qi or techniques during the battle," he said, immediately catching everyone’s attention.
People wondered what that meant for the battle and the tournament as a whole. After all, this was the final match.
"However," he continued, "Blazelight violated the rules first, thus being instantly disqualified. At that moment, Dawnblade was the sole remaining fighter on the stage, thus making his violation an exception."
"As such, Dawnblade is the victor of this battle, and thus the overall winner of the Weapon Tournament of Group 38."
