Chapter 2896: Zora Ali, Kirk Bale
Date: Unspecified
Time: Unspecified
Location: Myriad Realms, Card World, Western Region, Berg District, Scarlet Berg, Guild Association Mall
Aurelia understood that the situation in the southern part of the Western Region was only possible because Abel was royalty. To the outside world, he had been excommunicated for murdering his sibling, abandoning his post in the Double Gate Dungeon City, and associating with a wanted criminal and devil worshiper like Ada. But to the Chase royal family, he was merely the black sheep of the family, especially one that continued to bring in enormous profits.
If it had been Ada alone, there was no way she could have pulled something like this off at such a large scale. At best, she would have been forced to remain in the shadows, trading through the black market for the rest of her life.
Aurelia’s assumptions were sharp and largely correct, but she still couldn’t see the full picture because she didn’t truly know Abel or Ada. Jaya knew more about Ada due to her attacks on Sky Blossom City, yet even she didn’t realize how much this situation concerned their lord.
"I know it’s not my place to say this, but you guys should leave while you still can because Abel and Ada are not exactly your biggest fans. Apart from the royal family’s decree, they’ve placed their own bounty on Southern Hope and all his known associates."
Zora suddenly spoke up, warning Aurelia and the others. Deep down, she believed that if anyone could bring Abel and Ada to justice for killing her beloved Chris Chase, it would be Southern Hope and his forces. That was why she went out of her way to warn them.
The irony of the situation wasn’t lost on her. To seek justice for her idol, she had to rely on his rival, while Chris Chase’s own family had buried his death and moved on as if nothing had happened.
"I’m beginning to like you more and more. How about it? Want to join the Bright Lions?" Jaya asked, clearly enjoying the crazy in Zora Ali.
People like her were low-maintenance and high-yield. With the right direction, Jaya felt Zora could accomplish great things for her.
"If you promise to bring justice to Chris Chase, I will give you my life," Zora Ali boldly declared.
Her words surprised Aurelia. She knew Chris Chase had been popular, but not to this extent. To think some foolish young girl was willing to devote her life just to avenge his death.
That kind of devotion was downright insane.
"I don’t know about that, but Ada tried to kill Wyatt and Her Highness Anna once. The moment she dares to show her face again, she’s dead. As for Abel, he’s guilty by association and will most likely meet the same fate as Ada."
Jaya answered honestly, knowing the relationship between Chris Chase and her lord went far deeper than the simple rivalry the world had been led to believe.
"Wait, when did that happen?" Aurelia asked, certain she would have heard about something that serious if it had happened recently.
"Well, it happened back when Wyatt was still known as the Silver Milk Fraudster. Back then, even we were kind of rivals, which is why it doesn’t get brought up much anymore."
"Excuse me, if the offer is still on the table, I’m willing to join the Bright Lions," Zora Ali quickly cut in after noticing Jaya getting sidetracked by Aurelia. She was afraid the opportunity to avenge her idol might slip away if the conversation continued drifting elsewhere.
"Great. Welcome to the Bright Lions Security Agency. You’ll be my secretary," Jaya said excitedly while eyeing Zora’s captivating curves. They were absolutely massive, more than enough to distract from her face. Not that Zora was ugly, but her sharp, angular features clashed terribly with her hairstyle. The girl clearly had no idea her hair was doing her no favors. Once Jaya gave her a makeover, she would make for some excellent eye candy.
"Yes, boss," Zora saluted before hurriedly getting to her feet and moving to stand behind Jaya, already acting the part of her secretary.
"Hey, I’m the leader and I still don’t have a secretary," Aurelia complained, feigning anger.
The moment the words left her mouth, Kirk and Jonas both seized the opportunity at the same time.
"I can be your secretary, boss."
Both their heads snapped toward each other in an instant.
Jonas was the first to bark, "What about your family? They’re still aligned with..."
"Fuck my family! They’ve always looked down on me while propping up that bastard Nory. It’s about time I went my own way," Kirk cut him off, shouting as he glared at the bloodied Nory, who was barely managing to stay kneeling after the beating Jaya had given him.
He didn’t even dare drink a healing potion. Deep down, he feared that if he healed himself, Jaya would simply slap him right back to the brink of death again.
Listening to them bicker, Aurelia immediately regretted her words. Even if she wanted a secretary of her own, she would rather hire someone far more handsome and with a calmer presence than these two shameless ass-kissers.
"Enough!" Jaya barked, stepping in after noticing Aurelia was too embarrassed to stop them herself.
"Let’s get back to the matter at hand. Do any of you know where Abel and Ada are? Their base of operations? Don’t worry. If your answers satisfy us, we’ll not only guarantee your safety but also that of your loved ones..."
Kirk hurriedly spoke up, afraid Zora or someone else might steal his chance to earn points with Jaya and Aurelia.
"Boss, that’s the big mystery. They come and go whenever they please. Ada seems to possess an extremely powerful teleportation card. It can even bypass spatial disturbances and distortions.
"A lot of people believe they’re holed up somewhere inside the Way Beyond and only show themselves during trade meetings. Luckily for you, this month’s trade is happening in two days. They’ll definitely show up then."
