Chapter 2897: E-Rank Block Card

Date: Unspecified

Time: Unspecified

Location: Myriad Realms, Card World, Western Region, Berg District, Scarlet Berg, Guild Association Mall

"Who are you calling boss? You’re not a member. If you dare say it again, I’ll kill you for impersonating a Bright Lion," Jonas shouted at Kirk after seeing the slimy bastard trying to butter up his leaders and worm his way into their ranks.

The guy really had no shame, jumping ships the moment the tide changed. Unfortunately for Kirk, that was not happening under Jonas’s watch.

However, when Jonas glanced at Zora standing behind Jaya, his resolve immediately faltered a little.

"By now, they should’ve already learned we’re here, so I doubt they’ll personally attend the upcoming trade," Aurelia said, ignoring the argument between Jonas and Kirk.

"No, they were never personally present at the trades to begin with," Jaya replied, dismissing Aurelia’s speculation. "Ada has a terrifying Origin Card related to creating multiple clones using innocent people. She can create numerous copies of herself. Back then, she tried to bomb Wyatt by using those clones as suicide bombers and even sacrificed a few to summon demons.

"As far as I can tell, none of these people have actually met Ex-Prince Abel or the real Ada. They were most likely dealing with Ada’s clones disguised with transformation cards.

"Think about it. The southern stretch of the Western Region contains numerous districts and cities, yet these trades happen every single month across the entire territory. Even if the trades are spread across different dates in different districts, there’s still no way just two people could personally handle transactions in every city unless they had a way to be in multiple places at once."

Her explanation immediately made sense to everyone present, including the Seven Knights in Red.

"Things get more complicated the more we learn." Aurelia took a deep breath in frustration, before cussing, "Damn it, we need to call an assembly."

Her frustration stemmed from the fact that she had already clashed with Luna over this during the last assembly. If she called another assembly now...

Aurelia didn’t mind losing face. She liked to believe there wasn’t anyone more shameless than herself. But something about Luna always ticked her off. That smug look in the woman’s eyes, as if she already knew what you were thinking and how everything would turn out in the end— freaking know-it-all.

Aurelia would have loved to beat that expression right off her face.

But for now, she had no choice but to swallow her rare sense of pride and call an assembly. This matter took priority. Their lord had given them a timeline, and any delay was unacceptable.

Aurelia then exchanged a glance with Jaya, silently conveying that if she had nothing else to ask, they should leave immediately.

"One more thing. Are you guys not on VR-Universe? When I arrived, I didn’t notice anyone using VR-Slime cards," Jaya asked.

This was the thing bothering her the most. Back in Sky Blossom City, if kids weren’t in school, they were usually inside VR-Slime pods. They had even been worried that the upcoming year would have the lowest recruitment numbers in history.

But judging from the situation in Scarlet Berg City, things were completely different here.

"Well, almost all of us sold our free VR-Slime cards to the royal family and noble families in the Western Capital. They offered so much money that nobody could refuse. Most of our members already own house and vehicle cards now.

"These days, we just head into the mountains once or twice a month to scavenge. Whatever we find, we trade with the prince, and that’s enough to cover our expenses while still leaving us with some savings. We spend the rest of the time lying flat and partying whenever we land a big haul. That’s basically our routine now."

Kirk explained all this with a hint of pride, as if they had discovered some hidden cheat code for life while others were slaving around.

"That’s impossible. Once a card is registered to someone, nobody else should be able to use it."

"Well, we never equipped the VR-Slime cards in the first place. We just sold them directly to whoever offered the highest price."

"How? The distributors were specifically instructed to make sure every card apprentice equipped their VR-Slime card before leaving."

"Well..." Kirk scratched his cheek awkwardly. "I created an E-Rank Block Card. Even after equipping a card, the slot still appears empty, so another card can be placed over it technically appearing equipped."

"You’re a card creationist? Wait, then how come we’ve never heard of this E-Rank Block Card?"

"Well... that’s because I kind of created it by accident," Kirk admitted awkwardly. "I was trying to make a completely different card when it happened. After that, I kept trying to recreate the same accident and eventually managed to produce a few more."

"In total, there are only a couple dozen of them, and we kept them circulating among ourselves so we could bypass the free VR-Slime card registration and sell those cards to the highest bidders instead. Even our families don’t know about this. If they did, they’d probably force us to hand the cards over for cheap or just take them outright."

"Fuck, an entire generation of card apprentices ruined," Jaya muttered with a bitter sigh, feeling genuine pity for all the kids Kirk had dragged down with his Block Cards.

Meanwhile, Aurelia, Jonas, and the others looked at Kirk as if he were some kind of hero. Unlike Jaya, who had grown up rich and ambitious, most of them had never truly known peace. People like them craved stability far more than ambition.

Because of that, they couldn’t help but see Kirk, someone who had secured a comfortable life for his gang members, as a hero. In their eyes, his gang members seemed ungrateful for abandoning such a leader so quickly.

Still, Aurelia felt something was off. Ezekiel Cross didn’t strike her as the ungrateful type.
