Chapter 2974: Preparations Against Faith

Location: Myriad Realms, Card World, Southern Region, Blossom District, Sky Blossom City
Veerott nodded back at Jaya, but as he stepped back to rejoin Seraphina and Aqualas, his gaze lingered intently on Saintess Catherina and the Demigod Redfall.
Aqualas and Seraphina were still visibly reeling, utterly shocked to learn that another purebred Viltronian had just materialized right here in the city. But Veerott barely noticed their surprise. His focus was entirely locked on the Saintess and Redfall.
His senses tingled. He could feel it in the air—the resonant thrum of their biology. They too were part Viltronian.
The revelation struck him like a thunderbolt, throwing his mind into a whirlwind of confusion. What on earth was going on in this corner of the world? There were too many of them gathered in one place for it to be a mere coincidence. Pondering the bizarre anomaly, the only logical conclusion his warrior mind could construct was nothing short of inspiring: some legendary, incredibly powerful Viltronian survivors had not only escaped the destruction of their old world but were currently out there in the cosmos, working tirelessly to do their part in keeping their grand race alive.
A proud, silent warmth swelled in his chest at the thought. They weren’t extinct. They were rebuilding.
Veerott decided not to bring up the topic for now. The sheer number of anomalies demanded a complete reassessment; he needed to reconsider his entire approach from scratch.
First and foremost, he had to figure out the underlying reason for why so many hybrid Viltronians were suddenly turning up in this specific part of the world. Once he uncovered the source of this sudden demographic explosion, only then could he formulate the most optimal, strategic way to approach the issue.
Unbeknownst to him, his intense, brooding silence didn’t go unnoticed. I watched him quietly slip back into his thoughts, his eyes darting between my calamity daughter gems as his hunter brain clearly tried to solve a cosmic puzzle that didn’t actually exist. It was amusing, but we had a schedule to keep.
Breaking the sudden quiet of the teleportation hub, I stepped forward and clapped my hands together to draw everyone’s attention back to the matter at hand.
"Alright, reunion time is over," I announced, gesturing toward the massive cargo block. "Let’s talk about these frozen demigods. Aurelia, throw them into the criminal rehabilitation and reintegration camp. Oh, and bring out the demigods from the capital—hand them over to Seraphina."
Aurelia darted a quick, calculating look at Seraphina before nodding. With a flick of her wrist, she summoned her grimoire and used her Frosling Corpse Puppet Card Spirit. The pale, spectral entity materialized instantly, effortlessly lifting the colossal block of ice to transport the frozen prisoners toward the Sin Tower.
"Wyatt, I need to go and meet my squad," Seraphina said, stepping forward.
She watched me closely, only turning to follow Aurelia once I gave her a firm nod of approval. Seraphina was a practical leader; she knew that even though her squad understood the lethal risks of their line of work—and that she didn’t technically owe them a single explanation—some things simply had to be faced head-on.
"Umm..."
Seeing Seraphina walk away with Aurelia, Aqualas hesitated. She stood torn for a split second, caught between staying by Veerott’s side or following her commander. But having intimately felt the turbulent storm of emotions rolling off Seraphina, her loyalty won out. She turned and hurried after her.
"Boss, do you have any orders for me?" Jaya asked, stepping forward when she realized she hadn’t been dismissed alongside Aurelia.
"First of all, good job with the demigods. I’m happy to see you and your card spirit are getting along so well," I praised her, offering a rare smile.
Jaya practically beamed, the validation immediately washing away her previous frustration. But I didn’t let her bask in it for too long. Turning my attention to the Saintess and Redfall, I got straight to the matter at hand.
"You two, clear your schedules for this week," I commanded smoothly, locking eyes with them before gesturing toward Veerott and Jaya. "I need you to train these two."
"Training?" Veerott and Jaya blurted out in unison, their voices echoing off the polished walls of the teleportation hub.
"Yes, you two will undergo intensive training under the guidance of Redfall and Catherine," I confirmed calmly, crossing my arms.
"Boss, if I may ask... what kind of training?" Veerott asked.
He didn’t mask the skepticism in his voice as his eyes drifted over the Saintess and Redfall. I could practically see the calculations running through his brain. To him, even though they were part Viltronian and possessed demigod-level power, he genuinely believed he could take them both on at the same time with ease.
He was, without a doubt, sorely mistaken.
If this were a contest of purely physical might, his assessment might have carried some weight. But it wasn’t. Compared to the esoteric means of my Bloodkins, his straightforward Viltronian physical strength would only prove severely lacking.
"You will train your immunity to Faith," I answered.
Seeing the blank, bewildered looks that immediately crossed their faces, I shook my head. "No need to look so tense just to mask your confusion and lack of knowledge. Catherine and Redfall will fill you in on the details. Just make sure that by the end of the week, you guys have built a functional immunity to Faith. I will be counting on you two to fight a couple of exceptionally strong enemies for me soon. So, don’t you dare slack off."
"We wouldn’t dare to slack off, Master. Rest assured," Veerott said immediately, bowing his head. I could tell he was deliberately seizing the opportunity to try and claw his way into my good graces.
Meanwhile, Jaya was practically vibrating with excitement. The fact that her beloved boss was already assigning her special, highly specific missions was the ultimate validation. Thoroughly pumped, she spun around and barked excitedly at Redfall and Catherine, "You heard the boss! Let’s get started right now. We are wasting precious time, people!"
