Chapter 3220: Millennium Volcano Heart

Chapter 3220: Millennium Volcano Heart

Date: Unspecified

Time: Unspecified

Location: Myriad Realms, Dark Realm, Seven Prince of Hell Territory, Pandemonium City

A Volcano Heart was a naturally occurring elixir formed by the accumulation of a volcano’s essence over a century. If left undisturbed and unharvested, the essence continued to accumulate, and the Volcano Heart grew larger. With every additional century, it gained a ring, not like the rings in a tree trunk, but an actual ring like that of a planet, only ethereal. Each ring increased its nutritional value tenfold.

A millennium-old Volcano Heart could gain ten rings, and over the next century, it would transform into a millennium Volcano Heart. It would then stop accumulating the volcano’s essence and instead use the essence to nourish the volcano and its surrounding area. A lucky few even managed to form a natural array formation.

A millennium Volcano Heart could help those who had entered a devil realm break through a major realm, and those in the noble class break through a minor realm.

When Mommon built Pandemonium City, the volcano already had a millennium-old Volcano Heart with a natural array formation, and since then, it had been one and a half millennia. Turning the Volcano and the surrounding area very attractive for fire and lava type demonic beasts to settle.

So, one would think it wasn’t surprising that there were traces of demonic beasts trying to aim for the Volcano Heart, but a millennium Volcano Heart with a natural array formation protecting it couldn’t be sensed by anyone, which was why Mommon could get his hands on this volcano in the first place. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been his turn to own it, let alone build a city around it.

Since no one can sense it, there was no reason for some many demonic beasts to borrow so many tunnels leading up to the center of the volcano where the millennium Volcano Heart was at unless they were using it to lure demonic beasts to hunt for their ingredients. I wouldn’t put that past Mommon. According to his bio, if there was an opportunity to make money, he would take it, regardless of how small the amount was.

But seeing how I can’t sense the millennium-old Volcano Heart, I’m guessing the hunting season’s over.

However, these tunnels gave me a perfect reason to break into the center of the volcano and get close to Mommon without arousing his suspicion. I.e., I planned to break into the center of the volcano as a stray demonic beast that had coincidentally happened to make it to the area where the heart of the volcano was. Hopefully, that would get Mommon off his guard and give me an opportunity to turn him into my calamity daughter gem before he realized the truth.

I moved into one of the biggest tunnels and began to rush into the center of the volcano like a demonic beast wandering into an area and exploring it. I wasn’t subtle. I made noise like a stupid demonic beast that believed it was alone in the vast tunnel, swimming through the lava. The plan was to attract Mommon to me, as that would save me the trouble of breaking into the natural array formation surrounding the millennium-old Volcano Heart, where Mommon loved to seclude himself.

How do I know Mommon would come himself and not send a subordinate?

The center of the volcano was the core of his wealth. Considering how greedy he was, I didn’t believe he would be satisfied with its safety unless he was the one guarding it. Otherwise, why would he seclude himself here despite having better alternatives he could afford?

I had finally made it to the end of the tunnel, a few hundred yards away from the lava, but seeing the barrier closing off the tunnel exit, I knew why there was still no sign of Mommon. I swam before the barrier like a curious little demonic beast before suddenly burrowing into the walls of the tunnel and then toward the center, until I surfaced in the lava at the center of the volcano.

The barriers were only meant to block the tunnels, not the entire center of the volcano, because that would separate the millennium-old Volcano Heart and its natural array formation from the rest of the volcano and the surrounding area. Because of that, the millennium-old Volcano Heart would not be able to nourish the rest of the volcano and the surrounding area or replenish the mines faster than Mommon’s slaves were mining them.

As soon as my head peeked out, I heard a voice saying, "You are an intelligent one, aren’t you? But no matter what, you are still a demon beast. If you hadn’t made too much of a disturbance, I wouldn’t have realized a demonic beast would burrow past the heathen stone thorns I planted in the tunnel walls. Those thorns are capable of tearing into the scales of a semi-ruler-class lavamite, yet you, a noble-class— What are you?"

The voice was none other than Mommon, one of the seven leaders of the Seven Princes of Hell’s dark faction.

As he had just said, the tunnel walls were lined with big and sharp thorns made from heathen stone. Just the presence of heathen stone would make demonic beasts wary of nearing the ends of the tunnels, let alone burrowing into them and surfacing in the center of the volcano. So, unless a demonic beast had a considerable amount of intelligence matching its realm, it wouldn’t be able to pull off what I had just done, arousing Mommon’s interest and making him approach me instead of using the other machines he had in place to protect the center of the volcano.

"Maworm, a primordial demonic beast that was believed to have gone extinct in the past few millennia. I have to add you to my collection," Mommon said as he laughed aloud.

I pretended to be spooked, sensing his energy signature, before turning around and running for my life.

Now that the fish had taken the bait, I had to reel him in.
