Chapter 3222: Effect: Burning Damage

Chapter 3222: Effect: Burning Damage

Date: Unspecified

Time: Unspecified

Location: Myriad Realms, Dark Realm, Seven Prince of Hell Territory, Pandemonium City

A skin that converts any kind of damage into explosive, eternal flames that protect the user was why I wasn’t shooting a calamity daughter gem at Mommon and getting it over with. Instead, I was role-playing a noble-class realm Maworm that had wandered into the wrong place and was now running and fighting for its life.

Just to put what would happen if I were to shoot a calamity daughter gem at Mommon into words, upon coming into contact with his body, the gem would try to dissolve into his body, only for the explosive flames produced by his skin to blow it away. At best, Mommon would not notice. At worst, he would realize that he was actually the one who had walked into a trap, making it harder for me to turn him into my calamity daughter gem subtly.

"You have nowhere to run, little Maworm," Mommon said, seeing me backed into the barrier closing off the end of the tunnel leading into the center of the volcano. I opened my tri-petaled mouth and hissed at him, showing my endless rows of teeth and acting like an animal going into a panicked, aggressive frenzy when backed into a corner.

I grew confident in my acting as I saw Mommon, who had been standing at a respectable distance, close in while summoning a long staff with a harpoon head. It was a false relic capable of petrifying anything it pierced. As a semi-ruler-class devil, he could easily use it to petrify an average noble-class demonic beast. He wanted me to pounce on him out of my fight-or-flight instinct, making it easier for him to pierce my serpentine body with his false relic harpoon staff.

Meanwhile, I was wondering how I could deliver my calamity daughter gems into his orifices without triggering the burn damage effect of his skin or him realizing what was actually going on. There were his ear and nose holes, and his mouth. My choice was obviously his mouth since he couldn’t stop talking to himself and it was also big and remained hung open.

Now it was showtime. My serpentine body coiled and pressed against the barrier like a compressing spring while slowly nearing Mommon, who paused in his tracks, taking a trained stance and holding the harpoon staff. I could see a primal excitement in his beady eyes as he patiently waited for me to strike.

My serpentine body sprang off the barrier, and while my cloaked tri-petal head tore through the lava like a torpedo in the sea, Mommon thrust his spear at me as I neared him, aiming for my midsection. It appeared he didn’t want to damage the merchandise unnecessarily.

I let the harpoon land precisely where Mommon intended. Grinning, he excitedly raised the harpoon staff high, lifting my body, still stuck on its head, into the air as the false relic’s power crept across my body and began to petrify it.

Just when Mommon was least expecting it, my body began to grow faster than his false relic could petrify it, fresh growth bursting through the stone as quickly as it formed. My head, crying in pain, swung around, then suddenly moved with a single intent. In one swift motion, I opened my tri-petaled mouth wide and chomped down on his head like a death trap, my petals snapping shut around his skull.

His skin’s burn damage triggered, but it was instantly negated by celestial force, just as I had planned, and I planted a calamity daughter gem into his head as he regretted getting

Letting go of his head, I discarded the petrified and pierced part of my body. After reconstructing it, I switched back to my human form while Mommon bowed to me, showing that he had successfully become my calamity daughter gem.

I mentally instructed him to lead me out of the lava and somewhere we could talk. Nodding his head, he led me into the center of the volcano through the barrier. Then, closing the small tunnel I had dug as a Maworm in the large tunnel walls, he led me into the natural array formation of the Millennium Volcano Heart.

There was an entirely new sub-dimension within the natural array, an island surrounded by lava with a Millennium Volcano Heart acting like a miniature sun. The island was filled with many rare and exotic herbs that were surprisingly being tended to by powerful demonic beasts. I thought he was hunting the demonic beasts, but instead, he was taming them to look after his herb garden. All the demonic beasts’ bodies were etched with a slave array. I guess it was to ensure they didn’t end up eating the Millennium Volcano Heart, unable to resist the temptation.

We soon landed on a stone arena at the edge of the island. Surprisingly, the temperature here was normal. I guess even Mommon, who had the winged lava-fiend Wulroc bloodline, couldn’t get used to living in a volcano.

"Master, would you like some herbal tea?" Mommon offered as I looked around the herbal garden, noticing that each of these herbs was worth a fortune, especially in their current condition. Mommon was earning more than the entire Seven Princes of Hell’s dark faction through this herbal garden.

The faction members and leaders were entitled to a life and income outside of the dark faction, but this was like being a billionaire and working a daily salary job. It seemed the Seven Princes of Hell was more about power and authority than wealth. Having a big and successful faction did come with a lot of perks that wealth simply couldn’t buy.

’Well, all of this and the mind behind it are mine now. So, yay me!’ I cheered in my mind before turning to lock eyes with Mommon and asking, "No, thank you. But I would like to know the identity of this mysterious ruler-class buyer that wants to buy the Demon Merchant Code’s transportation rights to the Card World."
