Chapter 2718: Chapter 2718: The Missing Half-Soul Return To The Body
Ji Gu Niang accepted the bottle without any hesitation and greedily drank several large mouthfuls. After feeling slightly better and more grounded, she immediately turned back toward Yu Qi with a confused, questioning expression.
"Ms Tang, what in the world happened to me?" Ji Gu Niang asked, looking around at the broken stone surroundings.
"You should rest properly first. Once you wake up naturally later on, we will explain everything to you in full detail." Yu Qi stated gently, brushing a stray hair from the girl’s face.
"Oh..." Ji Gu Niang murmured softly, accepting the advice.
Almost immediately afterwards, as her soul began the heavy work of binding, she could feel her eyelids growing heavier and heavier. Eventually, unable to fight the spiritual exhaustion, Ji Gu Niang drifted peacefully back into a deep sleep.
"She needs plenty of deep sleep right now to ensure that both halves of her soul can merge together completely and stabilise properly within her meridian system." Lou Liwei explained, letting out a sigh of relief.
"So, it’s finally over?" Yu Qi asked, looking back at Long Hui.
"Yes, the crisis is resolved." Lou Liwei nodded firmly.
Yu Qi nodded in response before turning back toward Xiaohua and Xiaoliu, who were standing patiently.
"Both of you did a truly wonderful job tonight. You can return to rest now." Yu Qi said while patting both children on the head with a fond smile.
"Okay, Master! I am actually very happy and full after eating that dark thing anyway. Right, Xiaoliu?" Xiaohua said while swinging Xiaoliu’s hand back and forth excitedly.
"Hmm..." Xiaoliu responded with a small, compliant nod.
With a brief flash of light, Xiaohua and Xiaoliu disappeared from everyone’s sight, returning safely into the Sere.
Lou Liwei wanted to ask Yu Qi about the true identities of those two miraculous children immediately, but he wisely restrained himself for the moment. There were still far more pressing matters that needed to be addressed regarding the safety of the room first.
"Weizhe, call a few trusted people inside. We need to safely move Mrs Ji and Ms Ji to a much more comfortable room upstairs." Lou Liwei ordered his disciple.
"Yes, Master," Lou Weizhe nodded quickly.
He left the immediate area and went up the tunnel to summon several trusted disciples.
Not long afterwards, a small, disciplined group of disciples entered the cave. The young disciples were visibly surprised and shaken when they saw the current condition of the restricted area. Broken arrays, shattered stone flooring, and lingering traces of volatile spiritual energy were scattered everywhere. However, true to their sect training, none of them asked a single question. It was obvious that they had been trained well enough to know exactly when to remain silent.
The disciples carefully lifted Sang Yuling and Ji Gu Niang out of the cave and escorted them away to the upper pavilion. Soon, only Lou Liwei, Lou Weizhe, Yu Qi, and Long Hui remained inside the quiet underground room.
"Ms Tang, there is something I would deeply like to ask you. If it is not something you can legally or comfortably answer, then please feel free to ignore my question entirely." Lou Liwei stated politely, turning to face her.
"Go ahead and ask, Master Lou. If it is within my ability to answer it, then I will." Yu Qi replied calmly, standing beside her fiancé.
"Who exactly are those two children? And where did they disappear to just now?" Lou Liwei finally asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.
Lou Weizhe was equally curious about the magical matter and immediately shifted his gaze toward Yu Qi as well, waiting for her response.
Yu Qi smiled softly, a knowing look passing through her beautiful eyes. She had already fully expected that both of them would become deeply curious about Xiaohua and Xiaoliu sooner or later, especially after witnessing their extraordinary, boundary-defying abilities with their own eyes.
"Well, as you can probably guess, they are not human beings at all. They are monsters, plant monsters, to be precise." Yu Qi stated calmly, her tone completely casual as she delivered the shocking revelation.
"Plant monsters?" Lou Liwei exclaimed in sheer surprise, his eyes widening as he repeated the words.
"Yes. They are ancient plant monsters that have been cultivated diligently for many years, accumulating enough spiritual energy to eventually manage to transform into human forms." Yu Qi explained while nodding to confirm her words.
Both Lou Weizhe and Lou Liwei appeared completely fascinated by what they had just heard. Even though they belonged to an esteemed sect and had encountered countless evil spirits, resentful ghosts, and strange supernatural phenomena throughout their lives, they had never once seen a true plant monster before. What surprised them even more was the fact that these non-human entities appeared to share such a close, loyal, and harmonious relationship with human beings.
"Are they not dangerous to keep around?" Lou Weizhe asked, unable to suppress the protective question that had been lingering heavily in his mind.
"No, they are not dangerous at all." Yu Qi replied with absolute confidence. "They have already formed deep, binding spiritual contracts with us, so they would never harm us under any circumstances. Besides, they are not malicious by nature. They simply protect those they care about."
Lou Weizhe and Lou Liwei nodded in deep understanding after hearing her thorough explanation, their initial apprehension fading away into respect.
"I see..." Lou Weizhe murmured thoughtfully, stroking his beard as he looked at the spot where the children had vanished.
"Well, let’s talk more about this tomorrow after the sun rises. I believe everyone here is completely exhausted after everything that transpired tonight." Lou Liwei stated after a brief pause, feeling the heavy ache in his own injured chest.
