Chapter 2719: Ji Gu Niang Finally Wake Up

Chapter 2719: Chapter 2719: Ji Gu Niang Finally Wake Up

Everyone agreed with his wise words and nodded. The chaotic events of the evening had been far too intense for anyone to handle, and all of them were mentally, emotionally, and physically drained to their absolute limits. After that final agreement, they quietly left the dark underground area together and returned to their respective guest rooms to get some well-deserved rest.

.....

In a well-lit courtyard room upstairs, Sang Yuling finally woke up sometime later in the middle of the night. She abruptly sat upright on her bed and looked around the room frantically, her heart pounding wildly against her ribs like a trapped bird.

After realising that she was already resting in a clean, beautifully decorated bedroom and was no longer trapped inside that terrifying underground chamber, she finally felt a small sense of relief wash over her trembling body.

However, the horrifying memory of the grotesque dark creature that had crawled out during the summoning ritual still lingered vividly in her mind, refusing to fade. The primal fear she had felt at that exact moment remained deeply etched into her heart. Then, like a sudden lightning strike, she remembered her vulnerable daughter.

Sang Yuling immediately threw off the heavy blanket and climbed out of the bed, her legs shaking slightly. Just as she was about to panic and rush outside into the corridors to look for information, she noticed another neatly arranged bed positioned only a few feet away. Her eyes widened in realisation.

Ji Gu Niang was lying peacefully on that very bed, her breathing slow and rhythmic.

"Niang’er!" Sang Yuling gasped out loud, her voice cracking with emotion.

She hurried over to her daughter’s bedside and carefully examined her condition from head to toe, her hands trembling as she hovered over the girl. After confirming that her daughter had not suffered any visible physical injuries or demonic corruption, she finally released a long, shaky breath of relief.

However, a new, suffocating wave of anxiety quickly surfaced to take its place. She still did not know whether the Soul Summoning Ritual had actually succeeded or failed in the end. Looking down at her daughter’s peaceful, unmoving sleeping face, Sang Yuling did not dare attempt to shake her awake. What if disturbing her fragile condition right now caused something terrible to go wrong with her spirit?

In the end, she could only sit quietly on a chair beside the bed and wait for the morning to arrive. Once morning came, she planned to immediately seek out Master Lou Liwei and ask him about the definitive results of the ritual.

If even a master as powerful as Lou Liwei could not successfully wake her daughter this time... Sang Yuling honestly did not know what she should do with her life anymore.

The mere thought of such a tragic and completely hopeless possibility caused her eyes to instantly redden with fresh emotion. Before she even realised what was happening, warm tears had already begun sliding silently down her pale cheeks once again, leaving wet tracks in their wake. She clasped her daughter’s limp, cool hand tightly between her own trembling palms, pressing it gently against her forehead as she prayed over and over in the quiet depths of her heart that everything would be alright when the sun finally rose.

Sang Yuling did not know when she eventually fell asleep again. She had succumbed to slumber while still holding onto Ji Gu Niang’s hand, utterly exhausted both physically and emotionally after everything that had transpired over the course of the harrowing night.

In her hazy, half-conscious state, she suddenly felt a faint sensation. Someone was lightly squeezing her hand back. At first, her exhausted mind did not register the movement, thinking it was merely a trick of a dream. Then, the realisation struck her like a bolt of lightning. She had been holding her daughter’s hand all this time.

Sang Yuling’s eyes flew open instantly. She immediately lifted her head from the edge of the mattress and looked toward the bed with bated breath. At that exact moment, both mother and daughter met each other’s gaze in the morning light. For a brief, breathless second, neither of them spoke a single word. Then, the emotional dam broke, and Sang Yuling burst into a fresh wave of tears.

"My daughter! Niang’er! You’re finally awake! Thank goodness! Thank goodness..." Sang Yuling sobbed uncontrollably, her voice cracking as she threw her arms around her daughter’s fragile frame and hugged her tightly, refusing to let go.

Ji Gu Niang was completely caught off guard by her mother’s sudden, overwhelming reaction. She had never seen her mother cry so bitterly or look so entirely distraught before. At this exact moment, she did not understand what had happened to cause such grief.

However, seeing how incredibly emotional her mother was, she chose not to interrupt with questions. She simply stayed still and allowed her mother to hold her close, absorbing the tears for several long moments.

Eventually, Sang Yuling’s heavy sobs slowly began to taper off, and she calmed down enough to loosen her grip. Only then did Ji Gu Niang finally voice the deep confusion that had been steadily building inside her mind.

"Mom, what on earth is going on? Why are you crying like this? And where exactly are we right now?" Ji Gu Niang asked, her voice raspy as her eyes carefully scanned the unfamiliar, sprawling surroundings.

She did not recognise this grand room at all. The entire space looked as though it had been taken straight out of the set of an ancient historical drama. The heavy wooden furniture, the intricate carved decorations on the pillars, and the traditional architecture were completely different from anything she was familiar with in modern society.
