Also, many thanks to everyone who bought me coffee (*≧∀≦*)

The two people’s fist and palm passed each other mid-air, simultaneously hitting the ambushers behind them.

Those two were the swordsmen Liao Chen had just blasted away with a shockwave; now struck once more, no matter how formidable they were, they could no longer withstand the assault. With a final kick, they exhaled their last breath.

Taoist Qingfeng glared coldly at Liao Chen and said, “Next, it’s your turn...”

Before he could finish his sentence, Liao Chen suddenly stepped forward, his left arm hooking around Taoist Qingfeng’s waist, pulling him behind his back, while his other palm struck the last remaining swordsman squarely in the chest!

With that, all five swordsmen lay dead.

From the city tower, Yue Liuyi stomped in frustration, shouting angrily, “Useless trash! You lot can’t even handle one Taoist and one Xuanyuan member! What good are you all for? I told you to call the Sword Lodge’s protectors! What’s the use of a few disciples showing off their skills?”

These were not ordinary disciples. They were the most talented swordsmen from the Sword Lodge; otherwise, Elder Lu would not have summoned them all the way to Pucheng.

The only fault lay with Liao Chen and Taoist Qingfeng being overwhelmingly powerful.

After finishing off the last swordsman, Liao Chen immediately released Taoist Qingfeng’s waist, then used his qinggong to leap gracefully onto the rooftop.

Taoist Qingfeng frowned and said, “Trying to run?”

Liao Chen curled the corner of his mouth into a faint smile, his tone calm and indifferent as he replied, “I’m going to kill someone first; after that, we’ll settle the score between us. Oh, and by the way, that child is in your care now.”

With that, he pointed toward the alleyway and vanished like smoke.

Taoist Qingfeng glanced toward the alley where the frightened child was too scared even to cry. He furrowed his brows but ultimately chose not to chase after Liao Chen.

Instead, he walked over and gently took the child’s small hand.

Outside the city gate, the Black Wind Cavalry, the Shadow Division, and the Han Family’s Black Cavalry were locked in fierce combat.

Fifth Master Han was being helped to the side by a servant.

He sat with his back against the cold city wall, watching helplessly as the Han Family’s Black Cavalry fell one after another, a wave of powerlessness surging up inside him.

Was all his years of persistence truly in vain?

Had all his efforts been wasted for nothing?

Why, despite having superior strength, could they still not defeat the Black Wind Cavalry?

The Han Family’s warhorses were indeed physically stronger than the Black Wind Cavalry’s mounts; their pain tolerance far surpassed the latter’s. Yet, the Black Wind Cavalry possessed an indomitable will deep in their bones.

They could endure pain, they could face death, but they would never retreat!

He had believed that owning the strongest warhorses would forge an unrivaled cavalry force.

But only now did he realize that strength alone did not equal true power. The Han Family’s Black Cavalry... might really be losing this battle.

Wait. There was still the Black Demon Horse!

There was still a chance!

The Black Demon Horse was one of the few Black Cavalry steeds not yet weakened by the battle. In the prime of its life, young and strong, it refused to lose to any old horse.

It was determined to reclaim its position as the king of horses.

It launched the fiercest assault on the Black Wind King!

With its speed and explosive power, it was determined to maim the Black Wind King severely.

Everyone nearby broke out in cold sweat, but unfortunately, they were engaged in fighting and could not rush to rescue the Black Wind King——

The Black Wind King gasped weakly, looking at the charging warhorse; it no longer had the strength to withstand the collision.

Its body trembled slightly before collapsing helplessly to the ground.

Li Shen’s face turned pale, shouting, “Black Wind King——”

The Black Demon Horse vaulted over the fallen Black Wind King with pride and excitement, returning triumphantly to its place. It had defeated the old warhorse!

It was the true warhorse king!

Raising its front hoof high, it declared its absolute dominion over the battlefield!

At that very moment, just when it seemed the Black Wind King had already fallen to the ground, it suddenly sprang back up with a fierce burst of strength and sank its teeth deep into the neck of the Black Demon Horse!

The Black Demon Horse howled in agony, throwing its head back and screaming loudly as it struggled desperately, using every ounce of strength it had left to try to shake off the relentless Black Wind King’s grip!

But the Black Wind King refused to let go, clinging with unyielding tenacity!

It was a fight to the death. Either the Black Demon Horse would submit, or it would perish!

Finally, the Black Demon Horse exhausted the last of its energy, letting out a pitiful whimper as it knelt down on one knee before the Black Wind King, surrendering in defeat.

Fifth Master Han closed his eyes heavily, his heart sinking with grief and despair.

The Han Family had lost.

Han Ye was no match for Gu Jiao and called upon the Han Family’s elite death warriors to launch a joint assault.

Gu Jiao struck down each opponent with ruthless efficiency, one spear thrust after another, swift and merciless!

Han Ye was wounded and was escorted away by the Han Family’s guards.

Gu Jiao chuckled coldly, “Trying to run? It’s not going to be that easy!”

Fifth Master Han was allowed to be taken away because Liao Chen wanted to spare his life, but who did Han Ye think he was?

Just now, he even tried to kill her Black Wind King!

Gripping her red-tasseled spear, Gu Jiao vaulted onto her horse, shouting, “Big Boss! After them!”

Just then, Yue Liuyi leapt down and unleashed a volley of flying flower darts at Gu Jiao!

Gu Jiao snorted, “You’ve got hidden weapons? Do I not?”

In one swift motion, she pulled out a mechanical box and hurled it into the dense cluster of incoming darts!

Master Lu had given Gu Yan and Gu Xiaoshun each a life-saving mechanical box, and both had passed theirs to her.

She had never tested their power until now.

First came a faint, crisp snap, as if one of Yue Liuyi’s silver needles had struck the mechanical box. Then came the sound of spinning gears clicking into motion.

The next moment, the mechanical box suddenly burst open, releasing a shower of hidden weapons like petals scattering from a celestial maiden’s hand!

Not only did it intercept every silver needle and dart Yue Liuyi had thrown, but it also knocked down a swath of Han Family soldiers standing nearby.

Even Yue Liuyi herself was hit by one nearly invisible silver needle!

“Ah——” Yue Liuyi let out a sharp cry of pain.

The silver needle was poisoned, and the left shoulder and entire left arm that it pierced instantly lost all sensation.

Clutching her numb left arm, she glared viciously at Gu Jiao, “You… you dared to injure me!”

Gu Jiao sneered arrogantly, “And what if I did? I’m planning to kill you anyway!”

Among Gongsun Yu’s four famed generals, Yue Liuyi was the most ruthless and merciless; nine years later, she would become a formidable and troublesome enemy, but Gu Jiao had no intention of allowing her to grow any stronger.

Gu Jiao lunged forward with her spear aimed straight at Yue Liuyi!

This was one of the last two moves she had been forced to perfect back in the Ghost Mountain under Xuanyuan Qi’s pressure. If even Xuanyuan Qi could be pushed back by it, then certainly Yue Liuyi could be!

Yue Liuyi’s abdomen was slashed by the spear, and her face twisted with fury as she screamed, “Who exactly are you?”

Gu Jiao answered coldly, “Why do you care who I am?”

Refusing to become a sacrifice on the Han Family’s battlefield, Yue Liuyi gritted her teeth and tossed out a black fire bead, which exploded into a thick cloud of smoke, allowing her to vanish into the chaos and escape!

Gu Jiao watched her fleeing figure without giving chase and said calmly, “You probably still don’t realize that Pucheng is already surrounded on all sides. Even if you escape into the city, you’re nothing but a trapped turtle in a jar.”

The morale of the Han Family troops had long since collapsed, and Gu Jiao seized the opportunity to lead the Shadow Division in storming the city walls!

With a single thrust of her spear, she severed the State of Jin’s banner and boldly planted the Great Yan’s flag atop the towering city gate, proclaiming their triumphant dominance!

Description:

In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.

When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.

The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.

From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.

***

Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.

After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"

Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"

Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”

Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
