Shi Ye returned to H City overnight and never contacted Gu Jiao again after that, and even if they happened to run into each other by chance he would deliberately keep his distance and avoid her from afar, completely severing any further involvement with Gu Jiao from that point on.
Gu Jiao’s life otherwise continued as usual, except that she no longer easily tried to make friends.
In addition, as the intensity of her training continued to increase, the frequency with which she lost control grew higher and higher.
She needed to learn how to restrain the stimulation that blood brought to her, and her Godfather decided to let her study medicine.
At sixteen, while she was still in her second year of senior high school, she was admitted to Didu Medical Academy with the score of the top science student in the entire province.
At seventeen, she began taking on missions of D-rank and above.
At eighteen, she accepted her first S-rank mission.
She became the first member other than the Godfather himself to receive an S-rank mission immediately after coming of age, truly worthy of being a child personally trained by her Godfather.
The mission location was in F Continent, where she was to assassinate a drug lord, and Gu Jiao carried it out flawlessly.
During the entire month she spent far away in F Continent, Godfather turned down every single mission assigned by the organization.
Gu Jiao had no idea that he had rejected them all and assumed he was staying comfortably in the country.
The organization, however, noticed something was amiss.
When Gu Jiao and Godfather returned to the organization one after the other, one of the three major bosses, Allen, summoned the godfather to his office.
“You’ve been paying a bit too much attention to Shadow lately.” Allen said bluntly.
“This is my business.” Godfather replied calmly.
Holding a glass of red wine, Allen smiled and said, “I know she’s the one you brought back and that you’ve been carefully nurturing her all this time, but you should understand the rules of the organization. If you only want to sleep with her, that’s fine, just don’t let real feelings get involved.”
Godfather could not be bothered to respond and turned around to leave.
Allen coldly watched his retreating figure, tilted his head back, and took a sip of red wine.
After that, he turned his gaze to the video still playing on his computer and said to the person on the screen, “We’ll take that mission, but I want ten times the commission.”
Not long after Gu Jiao returned to the country, she received another mission.
This time the mission was rather special, as someone wanted to sabotage a political marriage between two major financial clans and had arranged for an assassin to kill the bride during the wedding ceremony.
After negotiations with the groom, it was decided that Gu Jiao would replace the bride and walk into the church, while Leopard and Flying Eagle lay in ambush in the shadows, ready to swiftly kill the assassin the moment he made a move.
It sounded simple, but the assassin had an extraordinary background and was ranked second only to King in the underworld, which meant this was in fact an extremely dangerous mission.
Any slight mistake could cost Gu Jiao her life.
“Leopard and Flying Eagle aren’t a match for him.” Godfather frowned as he sat in his office chair.
The assistant sighed and said, “But the mission has already been issued, there’s no way to call them back now, and you’ve been refusing missions frequently lately, which has already made the higher-ups unhappy, so you really shouldn’t wade into this anymore.”
On the day of the mission.
Godfather still went.
He did not replace Leopard or Flying Eagle, nor did he hide in the shadows, but instead chose to take the groom’s place.
His disguise was so perfect that even Flying Eagle and Leopard failed to recognize him at first glance.
As for Gu Jiao, she did not even properly look at the groom once.
The priest asked, “Sir, do you vow to take the bride beside you as your wife, to stand by her through wealth or poverty, health or illness, and remain faithful to her for all your days?”
He replied, “Yes, I am willing.”
Upon hearing that familiar voice, Gu Jiao’s heart jolted violently, and she lifted her head in shock.
The priest continued, “Madam, do you vow to take the groom beside you as your husband, to stand by him through wealth or poverty, health or illness, and remain faithful to him for all your days?”
“Huh?” She stared blankly at the man in front of her, god… godfather?
Godfather raised his long, jade-like hand, gently brushed her cheek, and looked at her deeply as he asked, “Are you willing?”
“I…” Gu Jiao was so stunned that she could not utter a single word.
At that very moment, the assassin who had disguised himself among the guests fired at Gu Jiao.
Everything happened in the blink of an eye, and before Gu Jiao could react at all, Godfather stepped in front of her and took two bullets to the chest.
At the same time, he fired back at the other man.
The other party was hit, and the scene instantly descended into chaos.
It took Leopard and Flying Eagle quite a while to finally lock onto him, and even then it was only because he had been wounded and could not run very fast.
If Godfather had not appeared, Gu Jiao would have died that day, and the killer would have escaped.
“Godfather!” Gu Jiao caught him as he staggered.
The blood pouring from his chest stained her pristine white wedding dress red.
Forcing himself to stay conscious, he said, “Take me back to the medical bay.”
The medical bay existed in another space, and its current entrance was located inside a villa registered under his name.
Gu Jiao sped the entire way, running who knew how many red lights, and finally managed to get him back to the medical bay just before he lost consciousness.
He personally removed the bullets and lay down inside the treatment chamber.
Every time he was injured, a massive amount of energy within his body would dissipate.
Before long, he grew so weak that he fell into a deep sleep.
When he opened his eyes again, he discovered that Gu Jiao was also lying inside the treatment chamber, motionless as she nestled beside him.
The chamber sensed his awakening and lit up with a gentle, warm glow.
By the light, he clearly saw what was happening inside the medical bay, as Gu Jiao’s blood was continuously being transfused into his body.
No one knew how long the transfusion had been going on, but her once fair and rosy little face had turned deathly pale, and even her lips had lost all their former color.
“What are you doing?” He asked in a hoarse voice, frowning.
Gu Jiao’s eyelids trembled slightly, but she did not open them, still lying on her side beside him, obedient and quiet like a small kitten.
“Wasn’t it… my blood that you needed?”
She spoke softly.
The words came without context, and at first glance it might have seemed like delirious rambling from extreme weakness.
But Godfather understood.
She knew everything.
He had brought her back, nurtured her with painstaking care, and spared no cost to make her stronger, all for the sake of one day using her blood to prolong his own life.
“I’m willing.” She said quietly, her forehead resting against his firm shoulder, “I’m willing to give you my life.”

Summary:
Xuan Zhi transmigrated into a world where the cultivation of “Supernatural Talismans” was a central practice. In this world, Talisman Masters could use talismans to summon gods, exorcise ghosts, command demons, and control the five elements, making this profession universally acknowledged as the No.1 most promising career in the cultivation world.
When she arrived, she was dressed in red bridal clothes, sitting in a bridal carriage, holding her ancestral “Celestial Talisman,” and preparing to form a marriage alliance with the Yun Clan of Eastern Zhou.
According to the original plot, after marrying into the Yun family, she would be restrained and effectively placed under house arrest in the name of the “three obediences and four virtues,” her husband would change from the Second Young Master Yun on the marriage contract to the abusive Third Young Master Yun, and she would eventually be tormented to death.
Meanwhile, the Yun family would seize her “Celestial Talisman,” summon wind and rain with it, and leap to become the number one great clan in Eastern Zhou.
Xuan Zhi: “Wouldn’t it be better for me to summon gods myself? Why should I give good things to others?”
***
Xuan Zhi: “Great Sage, I’ve been your fan since I was little!”
The “Celestial Talisman” rumbled, releasing a swirling cloud that carried her one hundred and eight thousand li before she plummeted headfirst straight into the main villain's bath.
Xuan Zhi: “I beseech True Lord Erlang to save my life!!”
The next moment, a dog paw suddenly struck her face, barking fiercely as it tore apart every malevolent spirit and sinister creature that surrounded her.
Xuan Zhi: “I may not be able to summon the great gods themselves, but I can summon their little pets and treasures.” (Forced smile.jpg)
Other characters in the book: “Just what kind of gods is she summoning?!!”
Xuan Zhi: “Sorry, my mythology runs on different lore.”
***
One day, Xuan Zhi finally summoned a god everyone recognized.
The Northern Abyss Ghost Emperor emerged amid countless evil spirit followers, clad in a black flame-edged robe with dancing sashes, his dark red eyes radiating a commanding, kingly aura, so imposing it seemed he was a different person from the one chased and bitten by a dog naked that day.
He held a divorce letter in his hand and sneered. “Part ways amicably, and live our own lives in peace?”
His sinister gaze locked onto Xuan Zhi. She snatched the letter, tore it to pieces, then shyly threw herself into his arms and squeezed out tears. “Boohoo, you devil, why did you come so late? Look, they all bullied me!”
Shentu Tao: “……”
Everyone she pointed at backed away in panic. “Good heavens, who is bullying who?!”

Summary:
In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.
When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.
The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.
From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.
***
Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.
After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"
Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"
Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”
Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
