Also, many thanks to everyone who bought me coffee (*≧∀≦*)
On the other side, Godfather was preparing to move.
Tonight’s mission was to intercept a batch of goods, and the reason it had only been rated as E-level was that the other party didn’t have a particularly powerful background and their armed forces weren’t strong.
According to the initial intelligence, the operation should have taken place in the afternoon when there were fewer people around, but the other side had arrived late, and now the number of people in the beach area had surged, making things rather tricky.
Even more troublesome was that the organization’s intelligence had been wrong: it wasn’t ten pounds of goods, but fifty pounds, and they had been taken over by another major player.
Things had become complicated.
Godfather descended from the rooftop on a grappling line in a single leap, entered the room where the transaction was taking place, raised his silenced gun, and with one shot per person, took down a whole group.
At that very moment, two accomplices who had just returned from outside pushed open the door.
The instant they saw the corpses on the floor, they slammed the door shut and turned to flee!
“Do they still have goods on them?” Godfather asked coldly as he looked at the financier kneeling on the ground.
The financier nodded, trembling.
Godfather cautiously pulled the door open while slipping the silenced gun back into the holster at his waist, concealing it beneath his trench coat.
At this time, Gu Jiao had just finished barbecue with Shi Ye and gone to a snack stand, where Shi Ye bought her an ice cream.
She lowered her head and took a lick, cream smearing around her lips.
Shi Ye smiled and reached out to wipe her mouth for her, but she suddenly turned her head and stared at a fleeting figure passing through the darkness of the night, calling out uncertainly, “Godfather?”
“What?” Shi Ye didn’t quite catch what she said and thought she was deliberately avoiding his touch, so he hurriedly fumbled in his pocket and awkwardly handed her a tissue.
Gu Jiao didn’t take it; instead, she stuffed the ice cream into his hand and walked away!
“Gu Jiao! Gu Jiao!”
Shi Ye called out twice without managing to stop her, clutching the ice cream as he chased after her.
Gu Jiao didn’t manage to catch up to her Godfather, but when she turned her head, she saw a man in a silver suit emerging from behind a nearby flowerbed, holding a knife to Shi Ye’s neck as he dragged him forward.
Shi Ye was just an ordinary high school student, and faced with such a situation, it was inevitable that a trace of fear showed on his face.
What shocked Shi Ye, however, was that Gu Jiao’s eyes were utterly calm.
The man in the suit shouted harshly, “Don’t move! Don’t come any closer! Or I’ll kill him!”
Gu Jiao’s aura changed in an instant, a bone-chilling killing intent radiating from her entire body as she said coldly, “Let him go.”
The man’s gaze flickered, the blade pressing tighter against Shi Ye’s neck and cutting open a thin line of blood as he snarled in a low voice, “Don’t make a sound, or I’ll kill you!”
But Shi Ye didn’t listen to him; forcing down his fear, he trembled as he shouted, “Watch out behind you!”
No one saw clearly how Gu Jiao did it, but in a single turn of her body, the spike in her hand pierced straight through the attacker’s throat!
Blood splashed all over her face!
The man collapsed to the ground in disbelief, dying without ever managing to close his terror-filled eyes.
Gu Jiao kicked his handgun up with one foot, caught it steadily in her hand, then turned around and fired a shot straight into the thigh of the man in the silver suit.
The gun was fitted with a silencer, so the sound was not loud.
Gu Jiao had originally intended to blow his head off, but in order not to frighten Shi Ye, she chose to shoot his thigh instead.
The man cried out in pain and released Shi Ye, collapsing to the ground.
He hurriedly tried to draw his own gun, only for Gu Jiao to shatter his right wrist with another shot.
After confirming that he no longer had the ability to resist, Gu Jiao walked up to Shi Ye, frowned slightly at the blood on his neck, and reached out with her fingertips.
Shi Ye instinctively stepped back.
Gu Jiao’s hand froze in midair.
She tilted her head and stared at him blankly, unable to understand what he was afraid of.
Shi Ye looked at Gu Jiao in horror, then glanced down at the ice cream in his hand that had already melted halfway.
He had been willing to risk his life to protect her.
But he had also been frightened by her…
How could she… how could she…
Gu Jiao couldn’t read his emotions; after thinking seriously for a moment, she pointed the gun at the man in the suit on the ground and said, “Are you afraid he’ll hurt you again? Then I’ll kill him.”
“Stop!” Shi Ye roared.
Gu Jiao lifted her head in a daze and looked into his fiercely reddened eyes, swollen with emotion, asking in confusion, “You… what’s wrong with you?”
Shi Ye looked at this junior schoolmate who could kill without blinking and still remain so calm, and suddenly felt as though he could barely breathe.
He retreated step by step until he turned around, and whether out of fear or revulsion, he left the spot quickly without looking back.
Gu Jiao watched his departing figure and murmured softly, “I just wanted to protect you.”
The night wind blew past.
Her figure looked a little lonely.
She drooped her small head and walked back slowly.
As she walked, she saw a human shadow cast on the ground, and instinctively followed it upward with her gaze, only to see her Godfather sitting on the edge of the flowerbed, dressed in black trousers and a white shirt, both hands tucked into his pockets.
The flowerbed was quite tall, but his legs were longer still.
Gu Jiao neither spoke nor continued walking forward.
“You like him that much?” Godfather asked calmly.
Gu Jiao said in a low voice, “It was my first time making a friend.”
Godfather relaxed slightly in expression, then rose gracefully and coolly to his feet, picked up the trench coat beside him, and with a casual sweep of his arm draped it over Gu Jiao.
Her cool little body was instantly wrapped in his warmth and scent, and what had not really been all that upsetting before suddenly turned into a quiet, heavy ache in her chest.
But at this moment, she suddenly felt wronged.
Her forehead bumped softly against his solid chest with a light thud.
Godfather lifted his long, jade-like hand and gently patted her head.
“My legs are numb.” Gu Jiao said.
Godfather sighed helplessly, hoisted her up onto his shoulder, and strode toward the hotel with his long legs.
As they passed the man in the silver suit whose right hand and right leg Gu Jiao had already shot, the man hurriedly pulled out a gun with his left hand.
Godfather didn’t even glance at him, merely fired a shot backward, the bullet hitting him squarely in the heart!
……
After returning to the presidential suite, Godfather called for room service.
Gu Jiao looked at the ice cream in front of her, which was clearly several levels more upscale than before, swallowed reflexively, and asked, “Is this for me?”
While checking the goods, Godfather replied indifferently, “Didn’t you fail to eat it earlier?”
Gu Jiao’s eyes sparkled as she asked eagerly, “Then how many can I eat?”
“Half.” Godfather said.
Gu Jiao’s little face instantly darkened.
She sat cross-legged on the sofa, taking small bites as she slowly sucked on the cone in her hand.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
It was room service again.
Gu Jiao thought more tasty food had arrived and called out happily, “Come in!”
The door opened, and a whole row of sexy bikinis that had been delayed all afternoon was delivered in by the attendant.
Gu Jiao was completely dumbfounded.

Summary:
Xuan Zhi transmigrated into a world where the cultivation of “Supernatural Talismans” was a central practice. In this world, Talisman Masters could use talismans to summon gods, exorcise ghosts, command demons, and control the five elements, making this profession universally acknowledged as the No.1 most promising career in the cultivation world.
When she arrived, she was dressed in red bridal clothes, sitting in a bridal carriage, holding her ancestral “Celestial Talisman,” and preparing to form a marriage alliance with the Yun Clan of Eastern Zhou.
According to the original plot, after marrying into the Yun family, she would be restrained and effectively placed under house arrest in the name of the “three obediences and four virtues,” her husband would change from the Second Young Master Yun on the marriage contract to the abusive Third Young Master Yun, and she would eventually be tormented to death.
Meanwhile, the Yun family would seize her “Celestial Talisman,” summon wind and rain with it, and leap to become the number one great clan in Eastern Zhou.
Xuan Zhi: “Wouldn’t it be better for me to summon gods myself? Why should I give good things to others?”
***
Xuan Zhi: “Great Sage, I’ve been your fan since I was little!”
The “Celestial Talisman” rumbled, releasing a swirling cloud that carried her one hundred and eight thousand li before she plummeted headfirst straight into the main villain's bath.
Xuan Zhi: “I beseech True Lord Erlang to save my life!!”
The next moment, a dog paw suddenly struck her face, barking fiercely as it tore apart every malevolent spirit and sinister creature that surrounded her.
Xuan Zhi: “I may not be able to summon the great gods themselves, but I can summon their little pets and treasures.” (Forced smile.jpg)
Other characters in the book: “Just what kind of gods is she summoning?!!”
Xuan Zhi: “Sorry, my mythology runs on different lore.”
***
One day, Xuan Zhi finally summoned a god everyone recognized.
The Northern Abyss Ghost Emperor emerged amid countless evil spirit followers, clad in a black flame-edged robe with dancing sashes, his dark red eyes radiating a commanding, kingly aura, so imposing it seemed he was a different person from the one chased and bitten by a dog naked that day.
He held a divorce letter in his hand and sneered. “Part ways amicably, and live our own lives in peace?”
His sinister gaze locked onto Xuan Zhi. She snatched the letter, tore it to pieces, then shyly threw herself into his arms and squeezed out tears. “Boohoo, you devil, why did you come so late? Look, they all bullied me!”
Shentu Tao: “……”
Everyone she pointed at backed away in panic. “Good heavens, who is bullying who?!”

Summary:
In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.
When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.
The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.
From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.
***
Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.
After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"
Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"
Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”
Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
