Chapter 489: Deceived
“Hey, isn’t this cheating?” Rael complained with a scoff. “I thought it was my turn.”
“You thought wrong.” Evelyn’s voice echoed. “Where exactly did it say I used Mental Integrity? Did you think just because the surroundings changed, I must have used something? For someone like you, perception should be your strong suit, dear Rael.”
Hearing that, his brows furrowed.
The blanket he had planned on manifesting didn’t appear. He had literally just wasted 500 Mental Integrity in the blink of an eye. It was especially terrible because he was in the last stages of the game.
However, with his transformation still present .and with Evelyn only applying this strange domain on him, he was sure the difference wasn’t that severe.
Or that was his expectation, when in the very last moment, just as her turn was about to end, Evelyn used her Mental Integrity.
<Evelyn ???’s Mental Integrity: 3,000% → 2,000%>
1,000? Just what did she… Oh.
He soon spotted what she had made. After all, it was hard to miss a large magnifying glass hovering above him.
The sun was on the other side, and as expected, when the sun’s rays made their way through the magnifying glass, what came out on the other side was a scorching pain that Rael didn’t know he could feel.
But not only that, it seemed like Evelyn could freely aim the magnifying glass. So with that in mind, she pointed it straight at the hoverboard, destroying it in an instant.
He fell from it, and as expected, he crushed a few people under his foot. Despite that, Rael didn’t hesitate for even a moment and decided to go with the simpler route.
<Mental Integrity: 2,674% → 1,674%>
Enhancing his perception severalfold, Rael soon spotted Evelyn. She was relaxing atop the magnifying glass, eating some kind of apple she had picked up from Gaia’s forest.
Yet when she spotted him, she flashed him a smile. It was clear she was treating this entire situation as a joke, and no matter how much he thought about it, Rael wasn’t sure how he could turn this around.
It’s over… Rael sighed, and in a last-ditch effort, decided to put his all into the next counter.
However, Evelyn didn’t really care. She simply went ahead and adjusted the magnifying glass to aim it at his feet. He tried to suffer through it, but the scorching feeling was getting too out of hand, and eventually, he had no choice but to move out of the way.
In turn, his Mental Integrity went down.
<Mental Integrity: 1,674% → 1,669%>
She stalled for time, draining his Mental Integrity even more. But in the end, once the 10 seconds passed, Rael was down nearly 100 Mental Integrity.
<Mental Integrity: 1,669% → 1,574%>
And now, it was once again his turn, so Rael did the one thing that, while it might not guarantee victory, he had to do anyway.
With a single thought, Rael made the oxygen disappear from the atmosphere. To make sure she couldn’t use some tricks like a space helmet or an oxygen mask, he made sure to also compress her lungs as well.
He was surprised it worked in the same turn, but of course, the drain was significant.
<Mental Integrity: 1,574% → 574%>
Sharp pain shot throughout his lungs as they compressed. Even so, Even so, Rael didn’t back down in the slightest.
She glanced down at him with a calm look before finally making a move of her own.
<Evelyn ???’s Mental Integrity: 2,000% → 1,000%>
All of a sudden, instead of suffocating, Evelyn’s expression beamed. It only took him a moment to realize she had inverted her breathing. Instead of actually needing air, she thrived on suffocation.
It was the perfect ability for masochists, but in Rael’s current case, he wasn’t left with many choices. His Mental Integrity was at rock bottom, and Evelyn had double his.
So with nothing left to lose, Rael proceeded to focus on his Supreme Beast transformation. Then, with a thought, he directed all of his power into a single attack. The most update n0vels are published on noveⅼfire.net
But it wasn’t a direct attack. In fact, it was a mental attack, one that likely wouldn’t work against Evelyn.
Then again, he was already fucked, so he didn’t hesitate to use it.
Just before undoing his transformation, he transferred the effects into a single mental attack. It cost him nearly every bit of Mental Integrity he had.
<Mental Integrity: 574% → 74%>
However, when he returned to his human form, a transparent black wave of energy suddenly shot out from his body. It flew several times faster than light, and within moments, it made contact with Evelyn, shattering her magnifying glass and knocking her over.
She fell from the sky, and it seemed like she was bleeding from her eyes. Yet despite all that damage, her Mental Integrity hadn’t gone down one bit. It was confusing how that was the case, but when she finally splattered down on the ground, Rael spotted something off.
The body’s hair was slightly shorter, and her eyes were completely unfocused. Sure, he had hit her with a powerful attack, but this was Evelyn. She wouldn’t go down with just a single attack.
When he walked up to her and inspected her, he realized this wasn’t actually Evelyn. And then, he felt a tap on his shoulder. Upon turning around, he saw the actual Evelyn, who took effortless breaths, almost as if his earlier suffocation hadn’t affected her.
“Cute trick, you almost got me… Well, not really, but at least you tried, isn’t that right?” Evelyn giggled, her expression brightening by the second.
Seeing that, Rael couldn’t help but let out a sigh. Deep down he had a hope that maybe, just maybe, despite her experience, he would be able to win. But it seemed like at some point during the fight, she must’ve created a copy of herself.
Did she do it when she created a domain…? She did spend a lot of Mental Integrity… Rael thought, then shook his head.
He had already made up his mind, and going further he would just embarrass himself.
Therefore…
“I forfeit.”
